PVP cheating question...

So... my wife and I are just getting into PVP... and I have this very important question. Is cheating (ie, stealing the scroll on a different faction to take it to your friends to take) allowed, or is it ban-worthy??

You see, this kind of behaviour REALLY puts both of us off PVP. It seems almost pointless if this kind of thing is considered "ok". We watched it happen tonight, video footage... will submit a ticket if its deemed against TOS... and shut off the game to play a different MMO. We both purposely stopped playing Diablo 3 on console because of cheating and modding... and I've no doubt we'll do the same here if that's what it comes to.

Would like to see an answer on this, because it appears from Zone messages that this kind of thing is the "norm"... which begs the question - "What are bothering for?"

So this has been going on since launch and as far as I know no one has been banned for such behavior.

Scroll stealing is like taking the good stuff out of nodes and chests and leaving garbage behind. It's not strictly against the rules AFAIK, but it's still a *** move.

This is sad... Zenimax failing to show any strong hand against this behaviour is more than a little disappointing... I know now why I never played PVP ... won't be returning to it either. I'll get my PVPing fix from For Honor...

You should try playing on a pop-locked campaign. This type of stuff seems to never happen there. Maybe because people are having fun doing 100v100 fights.

PvP ain't about winning some arbitrary goal though. It's about the fight.

To you maybe... but I play to win.. simple.

If it wasn't about factions - then we should just scrub factions.

There's not much of a point in giving up completely just because there are some people who occasionally exploit to their own gain. News flash: every other mmo I've seen so far has been exploited one way or another, that doesn't mean it can't still be fun the rest of the time.

Would be nice to see this lead to a temporary PvP for the account. Just goes to show that there will always be a few pathetic individuals who are happy to ruin things for others so long as they entertain themselves.

This might sound strange at first, but sometimes, maybe even a lot of the time, it's strategically better if your opponents have each others scrolls, and your team only has their own. This way both of your opponents focus each other to get their scrolls back, while our team relaxes and just holds keeps/resources for campaign points. The bonuses from having opponents scrolls aren't especially strong, and over time, holding more keeps/resources wins the campaign.

There are going to be exploiters and cheaters in ever game. If you are going to grant them that much power over your enjoyment of the game, perhaps you may want to look into single player or co-op games instead of online multiplayer. It sucks that they are there, companies do take action against them, but they usually don't make disciplinary actions puplic.

It should be, but it is not, it is poor game play ethics at best, I think it is a form of griefing and should be treated as such, but zos is pretty lame when it comes to it's handling of cheaters and exploiters, seems like they don't have the kohonies to do anything about it.

Yeah on console (XB1) we've had problems like that but usually since our faction (DC) is pretty tightly close even though a large portion consistently berates one another (Which is amusing in chat) we don't tolerate that at all. Usually we'll have one of our factions just kill the person doing it by logging into their enemy faction.

It would be nice if the report player option on ESO actually well I don't know record 30 seconds of gameplay or take a screenshot (multiple) of what was done which would make it feel as though the cheater will get caught because let's face it, sending a report about player doing X most likely doesn't ban them. For example I reported someone before for scamming players before tempering alloys had their own design (citrine use to look like it); A player would go around attempting to scam people and would be successful in doing so but even after people reported him.... well he was still playing.

Maybe they're trying to farm the scroll? Most new players won't know what that is.

This thinking is why campaigns are lost.
It is about the fight while winning the campaign not farming ap just by fighting at the bridge or farming a resource tower.

@Rittings I completely agree but will also have to say that Cavedog makes an excellent point. On TF that'd make sense, on "ganking innocent newbies campaign" (Haderus - never go there it is the only pointless campaign) it certainly wouldn't.

The question we should ask ourselves. Why are we all able to take the Scrolls. From the very faction you're currently serving? Why does the Scroll has an (x) (PS4.) On the very faction your serving, if taking the scroll was not actually an attended game mechanic?

Thus. Maybe ZOS actually wants us to take the Scrolls on same alliance? If ZOS didn't want scrolls to be picked up by our very alliance we are serving. Then there should not be an (X) (PS4) on the Scroll. However though. I like the old fashion way better and honest way.

Probably this. I've had enemy players offer to give me one of my faction's scrolls they were farming after their farm dried up in lieu of dumping it in lava or slaughterfish. The scroll resets after a while anyway.

YOU play to win, but many people don't care about the map or the campaign score, and you have to share with them whether you like it or not. And some players are doing things that may seem to have no relevance to the campaign, but actually does. If a group takes an objective deep in enemy territory ("farming") and pulls a large number of enemies, it can help objectives elsewhere.

The upcoming battlegrounds do, in fact, scrub faction identity altogether, and a lot of the people playing for the fun of the fight will probably spend a good portion of their time there instead of in open world Cyro.

But in most mmo's people are banned for it, or atleast I think that is what op is really upset about. It is rather annoying when those people get the scrolls and give it to the other faction. Or when they get the scroll and just run and hide in some random place.
