A little more flame damage on the Dunmer and a little more sustain on the Altmer. Since you will be most likely using a flame staff, force pulse, and blockade you want the elemental buffs.

You have Breton on your damage list but not dunmer?
I don't think you need the sustain on a Nightblade. Every other Magicka DPS setup, absolutely. But Nightblade is the only one that doesn't have sustain problems, so it doesn't make as much sense to lose the Dunmer's damage there.cpuScientist wrote: »Go altmer. While it's true dunmer will give a sliver a TINY sliver more DPS. Just go for the added sustain. The only really good reason to go Dunmer is if you plan on being vampire. It does make the fire damage at max rank easier to deal with.
Dunmer actually has 9% increased Magicka; 6% from the Dynamic passive and 3% from the Resist Fire passive.Tommy_The_Gun wrote: »TotallyNotVos wrote: »Tommy_The_Gun wrote: »Depends on what you are going for...

Depends from a build
Dunmer has +6% max magicka & + 7% Flame Damage and + 2% Frost / Shock dmg
Breton on the other hand has + 10% Max Magicka.
So i depends on your build.. one can have more dmg on Dunmer the other on Breton & vice versa.

To answer your actual question, roll a Dunmer. Don't be a N'wah fetcher.

Why would you think magblades suck? They're fun to play and dish out strong damage if done right and on top of that they are very survivable.
Altmer, no question.
Mag NBs can easily get 45k max mag and the max mag passive helps a lot.
Recovery passive too and you get 3% flame damage too.
The 7% flame damage from dunmer is definitely not enough I compete at all.
Pve and pvp is altmer
PVP
Gank build single target firestaff = Dunmer
Zerg Busting AOE Bomber lighting staff = Altmer
Hardly any difference especially in cyrodill . Pick what u like between any of the 3 mentioned and you will be happy.

OK let's just ignore that all of the top magblade dps are dunmer for a second. Do you honestly think that 1% magicka can compete with 3% flame damage?

The best magicka NB is probably kena and guess what? He's a high elf
It's not just 1% max magicka it's 9% extra recovery.
Most nb skills aren't even flame damage apart from the light and heavy attacks which can work without 3% extra lmao
You're points are so invalid btw "all the best players do it so it's correct" no. Mathematically a altmer IS better and even with that stupid point most people are actually high elfs anyway
