You're missing the point... when you go out farming... you collect several hundred Ruby Ash and that equates to 50 to 100 Heartwood, which is what I've found as well, and is the amount I tend to sell after each farming run. I've actually made quite a bit of gold since Homestead by spending a couple hours, two or three nights a week, farming mats.

As of last night, I had processed all Ruby Ash in my bag the day before, I had gathered 280 Ruby Ash.
For which I got 15 Heartwood.

Yes I have Master Heartwood gatherer, and all other Furnishing Material gathering achievements.

The drop rate for Heartwood is too low... ...end of.

Heartwood only goes for around 200 gold each at this point, so I just buy it from a guildtrader.

    Nope. Certainly not on PS4.

Had to farm 25 nodes to get 1 single f* heartwood

I'd say I get maybe 3 or 4 Heartwood for 25 nodes. Sometimes I get 2 a node so it adds up.

Last night my drop rate on Heartwood; with roughly 350 Ruby Ash I had 30 Heartwood... which seems to be about average... and it took me less than two hours to achieve that. Makes me wonder if the people complaining are the ones who don't like farming, thus they equate not getting what they want to mean that the RNG system doesn't work. However, for those of us that SELL Heartwood, the current RNG rate means that we do really well in sales! ;)

Sold 150, get them fairly often, drop rate seems fine to me, or maybe I've been lucky

I've just done a short (for me) farming run around part of my crag circuit, getting every type of node I see.

bearing in mind there are a lot of other farmers there, some who appear to be just going for the wood, and I would say I got at least 2 ore nodes for every one wood node, if not more, and there were loads more alchemy nodes than anything else, I got the following nice things :)

    14 Heartwood
    19 Mundane runes
    14 Bast
    13 Regulus
    27 Alchemical Resin
    1 Decrative Wax
    1 Kuta
    3 Fortified Nirn

This implies Heartwood is twice as frequent as Regulus, but lifes never that simple.

I THINK they are all fairly balanced (in that each type of node has same chance of giving furniture mat) , it's just you tend to find less wood than say ore.

But the RNG comes into play, I was about to log and decided to kill two wasps near me, and got the decorative wax, The first few ore nodes all gave me regulus but I harvested loads after and got very few, , the first 15 wood nodes gave me no heartwood, if I'd have logged off 10 mins earlier than I did, I would have had 8 Heartwood, I found the rest in the last 10 mins. I didn't suddenly farm more wood nodes, it was a steady pace throughout.

I know it's not like this, but it often feels like to me there are certain time frames when nodes pay out :) The RNG can say go 3 hrs without giving me any nirn, then another time I will get say 5 fortified and 2 potent in about 15 mins.

    TLDR

I think the drop rate is fine and me selling them is helping me save up for my manor :)

I've gotten the master gatherer achievements for bast, heartwood, and regulus almost back to back, so for me their drop rates are roughly the same: around 1 per 6-7 nodes. The furnishing materials that I find dropping the most are alchemical resin and mundane rune (1 per ~4 nodes), and the rarest are pelt and decorative wax. Although that may be due to the fact that I don't come across the sources that drop these as often (or if I do come across beetles for eg, I don't always bother killing them), so that's probably why I don't have as many of these as the other rare materials.

I find that if you aren't actively looking for them, it won't feel so slow. I'm doing the story for an alt, and gathering every node I find, even though I don't expect to invest any crafting skills on that character. I've got bast, resin, regulus, heartwood, and mundanes up the wazoo.

    Hmmm... point...

My achieves list my gathering at...
    regulus 29
    mundane rune 30
    decowax 31
    bast 40
    heartwood 42
    pelts 57
    alche 100+

no idea how much of this is driven by my casual harvest looks or drop rates etc. But i do not farm/grind so...it is whatr it is. i will confess to giving alchemy nodes a higher priority but i usually stop for everything though my crates/bags/sacks/packs is less than the others cuz they dont steam brightly.

One of the things that annoys me on these forums is when somebody reports a problem with RNG there is an immediate tendency for people to say "there's no issue cos I'm getting loads of stuff!!"
I happen to be one of these people who is getting very little heartwood (approx 1 heartwood per 10 nodes) Now, every single player could come along and tell me it's raining heartwood on them.... but that doesn't alter my problem one bit.
Bottom line - there IS an issue with low drop rate of heartwood. Please don't be so eager to dismiss the problems many players are having just because it's not an issue for you.

Think my usual is every dozen nodes or so. The double harvest perk helps.

Update: I'm still hardly getting any heartwood drops. I'd say I'm at a 1/60 drop ratio. I am however getting more regulus; 1/15 drop ratio I'd estimate. So "happy" for all the folks getting better heartwood drops--however, doesn't mean those of us that aren't seeing more plentiful heartwood drops are any less miserable.

1 heartwood? Congrats, you can now craft a single chair for your house...

No actually I usually get 2 to 3 heartwood everytime I get it. Very rarely do I only get 1 of the rare materiel when they drop.

I haven't done any farming, but I know I have already sold some. I don't really know one mat from the next as I am not into decorating.

Ok so the thing is this... take this as a thing to consider... the vast majority of software bugs are not deliberately targetted at you, the person, specifically. They don't look and say "hey, Josephine Baker is online so RNG screw her over." Most of the time a bug or flaw will hit lots and lots and lotys of folks or if it is a very small number then its because of some odd interaction with what they are doing, where they are going etc. That isn't to say its your fault but its a by-product of your choices.

So when someone says there are bugs in system used by lotsa folks, whether or not others are getting the same bugs in the same way or not is - how shall i put this - not a personal attack against you but rather a needed bit of info.

Now, maybe, one can choose to simply let that be something that "annoys" them or one can listen and look for ideas.

one of the things thats pretty obvious from this thread and others is that there are "i mostly get x and rarely see Y" all over the place on these mats with X and y varying a lot. there are also several reports from folks who likely grind more than i do that it varies a significant deal in their experience by zone.

look at my gathering list - heartwood is my third most populous gather. That is without dedicated farming but with casual gather while doing dailies.

So from my perspective the line of reasoning that says "Bottom line - there IS an issue with low drop rate of heartwood." is not supported by the evidence. thats not saying any of these mats drop as much as some would like...but it just says that there does seem to be an intersection between "the things you do and where you do them" and "which of these rare mats are most common for you."

Bottom line is you can repeat "Bottom line - there IS an issue with low drop rate of heartwood." all day long and it likely wont help you gather one more heartwood.

On the other hand, you could try and do something about it if you accept that its not just a bug out to get you or whatever victimized perspective you choose to let annoy you and then wait for your fix to come in riding a white horse like a fairy tale prince/princess and look at your typical daily play and see what can be done differently. See if a change of pace or location might help.

1 - Look at where you go, go other places. look at content you run , try some other types.
2 - My favorite - focus a little more on your gold stream and use the gold and guild stores to pick up your slack in acquisition.

#2 is what i have done. then again my typical dailies produce a significant stream of gold anyway and i find it no problem to divert one day's profits a week to "buy slackest gather that i need."

i always look at facets in an MMO as challenges and look to see how to overcome them. When i see i need more of XYZ i look at ways to change that - one of which is look at what i gather instead and can it be used to offset - and with guild stores purchases it can typically.

But for me based on my harvesting in-game tallies heartwood is a solid middle producer.

    regulus 29
    mundane rune 30
    decowax 31
    bast 40
    heartwood 42

    pelts 57
    alche 100+

i suspect that if i were out killing more varmints and animal grinding and less un-delving and doing mage pub-runs the numbers would be different.

meanwhile, now to run off to the guild store cuz i just spotted like four achievements i am within a few recipes of unlocking...

Hm... I'd say that's the third-most frequent furniture material I encounter. The first being Alchemical Resin, and the second being Mundane Rune.
