loot spies

for some inexplicable and weird reason a lot of players are still using addons to see the group loot, and for those who play frequently on group events this is really annoying since we have to constantly deal with intrusive beggars. the only solution i found until now is an addon to mute the players, but i was looking for a better way, a way to prevent the group to see what am i looting. is there any way to do that?

*EDIT*
i noticed that many people thinks that i'm selfish because i'm looking for a way to prevent my loot broadcast. i already explained it, but most people reply only to the main topic without reading the discussion, so, let me explain again that i always traded gear on dungeons, i have no problem with it (why would i?), usually i even give it away if someone ask for some item, in fact, i only reject to trade with people who knew what i have looted before i reveal it.

i'm just looking for an addon or something to prevent the loot spies.

Make note of the Account Name and never group with them again.

Or, go Offline, that will work as they can only communicate with you while grouped, once you leave the group they can't bother you.

Me, I ignore them. Nothing says you have to respond. I link what I am willing to trade in chat, and that is all I will trade.

The whole point of that info being exposed to the group is to help folks get the gear they're trying to farm.

If you need it, keep it, if not don't be selfish and those out that are helping you.

I'd just politely tell them you're not interested in trading.... once. After that they've given you permission to be as big of a jerk as you can possibly be. So next time, just tell them to **** off!

Faking your language is more fun though, after a few "Que? Que? Que?" every time they try to explain what it is they're wanting you to do I guarantee they'll give up and walk away.

This (and faking hard of hearing) also works on telemarketeers, if anyone still has a landline.

i know that we can ignore, mute, don't care or something. but since it's possible to see the group loot it would be nice for the group members who are not interested in revel their loot to have an option to prevent that. it's just it. i'd really use an addon for that :)

There should be a safe space for loot so other people cant see it. The united states supreme court should extend the privacy clause to include loot as a personal privacy right.

I mean when someone else knows I got that coveted training epaulets of the Undaunted Bastion, it really hurts me down to the core of my being.

Or maybe you can just say no if someone offers to buy your loot and you dont want to trade.

Yeah this seems ridiculous to me. What's the problem with people being able to see what loot you got? They might attempt to engage you in conversation to see if you'd be willing to trade the item you got to them - oh the humanity!

Also its your right to keep it no matter what, even if you don't need it.

Don't see the issue here, I'm a bit shocked few offers to trade loot even in guild runs.
In short gear might be trash for you, but do you know the sets all other builds use?
Even en piece with trash trait can be nice as last piece in an set.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I don't have a problem with it. If someone is farming for a particular item, I don't mind they ask me if they see I got that item. If I also want the item I will just tell them... I've never had anyone get upset about it. Most times I already have duplicates of the item or don't want the item so I am happy to give it to them.

The vast majority of the time, other players seem keen to help & give away their spare loot.

You can stop broadcasting your drops when I can stop telegpraphing my stealth attacks, I suppose.

The data that modders are permitted to play with gives away way too much of the game.

well... it's not really a complain since everybody already complained about that even at esoui page. i was just trying to find out if meanwhile someone found a solution or created an addon to fix this. like i said above, i'm "looking for [...] a way to prevent the group to see what am i looting".

The easiest thing to do is to leave the group immediately after looting the body.

the problem is never at the last boss but in the ones before where those players stop to beg for items. i think that the best way is to inform in the beginning about what you need and, if someone gets it and don't need the item, he or she would inform about that if they want to. it's much more interesting and nobody needs to be muted or ignored.

anyway, i already understood that there is no addon to fix this, but... who wouldn't use an addon to prevent the loot spy? i'm curious :)

I like these addons. I'm not always paying attention to my loot. If I pull something that somebody else can use, I'm hoping they will whisper me and see if it's something I'm not interested in. If I don't need it, I'm happy to see it go to someone that can. I don't post up every item I pull from every boss all the time. I'd find that far more obnoxious than people seeing what I loot.
