Gap closer spam is only really a problem if you're running away from something. It definitely forces a more aggressive playstyle, but I'm not really settled on whether or not that's a bad thing.

It's a zerg tool and the unavoidable snare is the cherry on top.

if you have more then 1 person targeting you with a gap closer you cna't even move....all it does is allow people to zerg you down.
in 1.x gap closers worked just fine, and they didn't impede your ability to move. Gap Closers are supposed to close distance, if you hit then thats a bonus....just like if i throw an Overload attack, if it lands great, but there shouldn't be anything in the game that prevents you from moving or semi-holds you in place while i use them.
Gap closers as they are right now just favors superior numbers that already have enough advantages as it is...they already have more people, more healing, more dps, more ultimates, etc...they don't need crappy game mechanics like this helping them too
Sadly, and I can't believe I'm saying this for once, you simply don't know how to PvP.
You know what gives giant groups an advantage? Numbers. Sometimes even coordination.
Now if you think that "kiting" a zerg is a good idea - you are a bad player. You poke an army of tons of people and surprise! they will run you down.
You want to know how to destroy baddie zergballs with stupid EoTF spam? It's not by being a ganker.

A few patches back gap closers had a snare added to prevent lag causing people to fall through the world or get stuck in animation all the time. Sadly, the people arguing for the removal in this thread don't like counters to the one way they like to do things. Most of the comments betray a lack of knowledge of how things were long ago.
