Me personally I would give the game a strong 7/10 stars. Only because lagg, things never getting fixed, loading screens, crashes etc. All we get is a bandaid to "fix" problems, but never permanent fixes. If it wasn't for those problems, the game could easily be a 9! Other than that, I'm hooked and loving this game and will most likely stay with the game for the next 2-3 years!
I actually love the game, which is why I am currently rating it zero because I haven't been able to log in for 10 hours due to server problems. I hate crown crates also. I like the game though.

Epona was a Romano-Celtic goddess dating back to around 1800 to 2000 years before computer games were invented.
6 for Rich Lambert saying it's the cool thing to hate ESO. Obviously as a director he has no idea what extreme ownership is.
6 for 2+ years of Cyrodiil problems
Pros: Elder Scrolls lore and universe.
3 years * lol
Sorry bro, the 2 years is my experience. I played beta and then disappeared until a couple years ago. I remember Cyrodiil working just fine back in the day.
Most of the writing and visuals in this game are absolutely beautifull, some of the shadow usage is absolutely stunning, the writing in this game some of the best I have ever seen in an MMO. It's just the content where it falls apart.
ESO only gets six stars because up until this point it's been good at making overworld zones, not so much at making endgame PVE and balancing it. The game is forever hobbled by the hackneyed dark age of camelot design focus, where the game was built from the ground up to be a PVP experience, then figured out too late not enough people wanted it for it to be profitable.
The current designers dont want to completely overhaul the current system, either dont want to or cant get permission, and the current people choosing content focus are predominantly focused on creating difficult experiences for a hardcore playerbase that will never be satisfied. Everything suffers for it but the overworld, which they slowly repurpose as well.
Bottom line. If this game wants anything more than an above adverage rating the current system needs overhauled and the game needs to be made with PVE in mind. The current system is so bland and stale, so obviously ment to encourage PVP freedom that PVE freedom is nonexistant. You play the way that works or you dont play. For one of the highest ranked MMO's on the market nowadays, it deserves better than the pidgeon holed design it has now.
The game itself is quite good, stability and performance issues (not just today) are the only things preventing me from giving an 8 or 9. And only small or QoL things would hold it back from being outstanding if the performance issues were fixed.
But the show-runners, on the other hand, score very low. Zeni has no integrity, and will undoubtedly continue to make business decisions that either irritate or genuinely disgust me. I've no question that it is the leadership team that will eventually drive me away from the game, rather than the product itself.
Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. ~Friedrich Nietzsche
I thought about my time played more than anything.
Although I'd give it an 8/10 upon more consideration. If bank space wasn't an issue, I'd give them a 9/10.
No game imo can have 10/10, unless you consider it utter perfection and get the big O from just thinking of it. Maybe a bit extreme but you get my point.

8 Flawless conquerors on all class specs (4 stam, 4 magicka)
Doesn't stand in red
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
Balance is a "Bad" thing.
Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.
Balance is a "Bad" thing.
Is the glass half full or half empty?
I say, "Get a smaller glass."
It has the best combat of any MMO for my tastes, except for animation cancelling which I refuse to do. Regular PvE is easy enough that it doesn't matter but competitive content (eg. Cyrodiil) is effectively not there. I'm happy to refuse to AC but inflicting my gimped non-AC play on others in competitive content just wouldn't be fair.
Great story. A lot of quests are very similar in format but I always appreciate the story.
Classes. Why the BLEEP would you in an Elder Scrolls game? Then they thought it was a good idea to drop the nature themed class. That left me not loving any class and I still haven't finished the original game, let alone all the DLC because of that.
We've been told the long-promised spellcrafting probably won't even be as originally advertised, if we ever get it.
Nice that Morrowind will bring the warden back but we were promised spellcrafting (including nature themed spells) and I made characters accordingly. If we don't get the option to change our class to warden for free with Morrowind, I'm not sure if I'll buy it straight away.
The crown store. Uggh. Overpricing, crates etc. etc. I try to ignore them but they have on several occasions sucked a lot of joy out of the game. Eg. I wanted the glow kitty. I wasn't aware of their crown pack sales and overpricing crown store items so their cost is only reasonable if you bought crowns on sale. I was not willing to pay $40 for an MMO mount. So no kitty for me. And I got caught later with the elk costing more than anticipated and have been stuck waiting for the next sale to buy the banker.
Worst inventory management experience of any game. It's only bearable because of addons. They harped on and on and on about how great the crafting bag would be and how everyone would love it.... then restricted it to ESO Plus. Cos that's how ZO rolls.
Housing without storage. Yeah.
The game could easily be a 10. They have solid combat and a huge world. But it's dragged down by the stupid stuff.
5 stars. -4 for lag, and -1 for balamcing bs. Which I can live with as its very back and forth. But the only thing that keeps me from playing is lag, which is a big deal. Not being able to play is a big deal.
At launch I would've given it a 9, even with the bugs.
But, system performance over the last year makes even a 6 a tough call for me.
If it doesn't improve, next year it'll be a 3. If I'm still around
I'm not going to rate eso when I can't login because servers are broke . This one bad day will ruin my memory of the other 300 plus days . I'll rate after its fixed and I've calmed down from withdraws .
I really like the game. I play it on and off, but when I'm on I always have a good time. If I were to rate it objectively, I'd probably lose a couple of points, 7 or and 8. But I (almost certainly mistakenly) read this as more of a personal rating.
At the end of the day the game's aging graphics remain stunningly beautiful, the combat system is simple enough to translate to consoles successfully while still being engaging, and giving (particularly casual) players a great deal of flexibility to play with different builds, the changes introduced in one-tamriel are unparalleled in the industry and allowed for a near perfect transition to a truly vast gameworld, the crafting and story are integrated very well in to the gameplay, could be better, but is almost always so very much worse.
It's a game with a hell of a lot to offer, and no other MMORPGs out there today offer anything near what this game does in terms of creating a virtual fantasy world (there are games outside the fantasy setting that beat it) that's immersive and pleasant to inhabit. It's a great game, and personally, I love it.
I would like to say 10,
but I can't. Some features still missing to me.
I would like to say 1,
but it would not be fair. I'm angry at them because of they screwed up. They lost subscription model, because of the wrong choises and now the crown store :S I will never love it, but the game is very good to try to ignore it, which is not always easy. The last of my favorites are crown crates, and crown crate exlusive items :S
The game is very good and this is the point. I'm proud of them too that they were able to use the second chance.
Just pls, stop use new tricks on crown store. I have been quite so hate to bother me.
I've had friends contact Sony regarding certain PS4 errors they've gotten recently, to which they were told only poorly optimized and very buggy games could cause.

I Star. The game itself isn't bad but the constant crashes, the not being able to login, the atrocious lag make it a 1. Sorry, fix the *** game then we will talk about a higher rank. How good is a game that you can't even play?
Despite everything, never have I, and undoubtedly will I, ever find a better game. And I sure have played a bunch of games! Easy 10 stars! I spend most my time here and wouldn't want it any other way. Sure there are a few latency issues lately and minor other problems but nothing has done what this game has. It has awesome giant scaled PVP, the best homestead system than any other, the best crafting system, the fairness(ie no P2W) with no advantage over the players that can't afford to spend extra. I spend extra because I do like cosmetic items too! Also, most people in here I have met are great too! Nice community and awesome customer support the times I needed to use it. Just everything about this game will keep me playing for as long as it's servers are up! I can go on forever, but I would rather be playing!
