How many houses do most of you own?

    Three.

    1. Rosy Lion Inn - (Free House)
    2. Hammerdeath Bungalow - (For Storage) + Plans to get Humblemud for more storage.
    3. Mournoth Keep - (For real housing, but mostly for teleportation)

Is there any advantages from having more than one house if the one you have is big enough already? I don't see any.

The free teleports in multiple spots are pretty sweet, tbh.

That said, I didn't get my houses for that. I'm a roleplayer who wanted all my characters to have their own home, so I got each of them a small (and one medium) house. But I know that's not enough to appeal to a lot of people, so... :)
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Zero ... haven't even bothered to get the free one ... I'm playing the game and the houses are quite frankly, useless
None. No storage, no reason to have a house.

Same here, without any personal storage, then housing is useless.

None. I saved 1 million but I have already spent 500k upgrading to legendary lich, amberplasm, necropotence and some monster sets for my sorc. I do love to play around with a lot of sets.

13 so far, including all free inns and the apartments and mainly small houses....would like to get all eventually but I'll probably die first as it's very expensive. Furnishing is so extremely expensive I'll probably get old and grey (greyer) before achieving it but it's good...something to keep going at.

I have Kragenhome and Flaming Nix Deluxe Garret. I got Kragenhome first, but missed the convenience of Mournhold, which is why I got the Garret which has been my primary residence since. I plan to get a medium house next, which probably will be Cliffshade.

Zero. It's the biggest rip off in the game, second only to crown crates.
It's not a rip-off if you just buy it in the game with in-game gold. It's totally free that way. :p

Even then still feels like a rip off, Swtor 2.0 houses ftw

Lol, you mean the "Hook-system"? All housing looked the exactly same, absolutely no customibility, and if you wanted to put a deco where there were no hooks, too bad.

You're 100% confirmed troll if you referenced the WORST HOUSING IN MMOs to date.

    Troll detected. Unfollowing post.

No. It's not even about the hook system. He means it's pure VISUAL FLUFF. Except for a VERY FEW exceptions the ONLY use a house is, is visual art. You can't do anything with it. There is seriously no reason to recall to a house rather than your favorite city (ie. Riften) that has everything sitting there for you.

Even if you stupidly bought the merchant and guild bank assisstants, they don't have full functionality. At this point the only reason to have a house is to hold on to it in hopes one day it won't be a big waste of time.

Considering how much stuff can be picked up or crafted in this game, i would have expected something a lot closer to Ultima Online style housing.

    4 in total.

2 are the free rooms (I don't have a character in EP yet.

Mathiisen Manor and Barbed Hook Private Room

I own all the housing in Auridon

That's all I'm buying for now as I'm concentrating on decorating Mathiisen Manor and it's bloody huge.

Not sure what house I'll buy next, but Autumn’s-Gate is a real contender.

This is easily the best housing system I've seen in an MMO since UO. I hated the hook system in LOTRO. The house decorating tool is so powerful and some of the furnishing items are just stunning. I'm genuinely enjoying decorating my house as another aspect of ESO.

Swg was the best housing system to date from what i've played, you could visit players houses anytime you wanted just as long as they left the door open (Unlocked) even while they're offline.

Ultima Online was better. But ONLY because you had more options of interaction items. IE. runebook libraries to port around the world, tons of rewards and collectibles that could buff you.

so far? excluding free rooms and apparentments - 4. though it will probably be 5 in a few days, I've been resisting snugpot, as I don't typicaly like houses with no garden, but its cheap, relatively spacious, but the most important part - convenient. I love Elden root for general stuff, and its where a lot of my quest turn ins are, so.. yeah. (I do own one apartment in skywatch, becasue cheap, convenient and came with candle stick that was cheaper to get that way then from a guild store :P)

for the moment - I have velothi reverie, Black vine VIlla, Cyrodilic jungle house and Humblemud. will be buying Aurumn's gate and Twin arches sometime soon and trying to be patient and save up for Houndings palatial hall. my main issue is decorating. I'm trying not to spend any crowns, and craft majority myself and its proving.... lengthy. mats are pricey on the market right now, and while recipes i can get relatively cheap - crafting them is a whole other story. of the houses I own, only one is fully furnished (though I may still make adjustments in a future), 2 are partially furnished and one only has some of the garden done.

    must... be... patient.

edited to add - why? a house for each character i have, Reverie is for them to get together periodical (its large enough for all of them to stay in at the same time) Houndings as a vacation retreat.

I saw someone mentioning swtor housing in context that its better then ESO. I'm sorry, what? in what world. aside from hook system - vast majority of decorations come from real money purchases. sure you can trade them between players, but the fact still stands that vast VAST majority of them, come from cartel packs (crown crate things) and occasional direct purchase decoration packs. (which they don't even bother selling individually anymore so there's that one or two decorations that everyone wants that costs an arm and a leg, and the rest that are ugly - you cannot give away) and other then starting houses? its very expensive as well. and you have to unlock rooms individually.

honestly, I went back recently to play around with my homes in SWTOR and after relative freedom of decorating in ESO it was just so.... lacking.

    1, Forsaken Stronghold.
It's the best house in my opinion.
Large courtyard, large inside, good looking, defendable fortress with stables and room for siege weapons. Enough room for scenic view and servant quarters plus enough room for a large forge to go with my blacksmithing station.
I honestly don't need any other home given that this one is so perfect. Though I must say I don't enjoy the 3 minute walk to the nearest wayshrine, as scenic as it is.

It's the case with all houses, but I also don't enjoy going out of my house gates and seeing my neighbors about. It's not that I don't enjoy seeing people, I just don't enjoy knowing they have the "same" house as me, it takes away from its uniqueness and feeling of specialty. Would have no problem if lots of people had identical homes around mine. But seeing them use my house gates is just slightly disappointing; but I was prepared for this feeling from the day 1, so it's fine.

I own 3: Mournoth Keep, Twin Arches, and Velothi Reverie.I use Twin Arches as my crafting house. Mournoth has the most effort into landscaping for me, and in Velothi Reverie, I gave my House Dres dunmer her own murder basement, and my Argonian runs the Hist garden in the courtyard :) I want to own the Ebonheart Chateau someday, and the Earth Tear house coming out, if its not too expensive :)

I bought the Cyrodilic Jungle House with my in-game gold, and when I re-subbed (did the 6 month and was surprised I got all the crowns at once instead of monthly), I bought the Goronir Estate. I love them both! Still topping off the Cyrodilic Jungle House, and the Goronir Estate is half filled, so that will keep me busy. I'm always thinking about what I can do with some of the smaller houses though, so I'm sure I'll be buying more in the future as residences for my various alts.

It's exactly the same, except for the hook system yes but you do realize that no one bothers to visit each others houses every day and take the time to visit others right?

Clearly you have no clue about housing guilds then. In mine we are constantly visiting each other's houses. I'm sure other guilds are doing something similar.

I have only one and not willing to buy another. What restrains me from this is the limited amount of furniture items to be placed inside. After the limit is reached the fun is over and I stop visiting my house.
