When I realized that removing quests from my journal greatly improves framerate (at least on consoles, from below 10 to smooth locked 30) when loading new location.

1. When the gamepad UI was added to PC in PTS......then I realized it only offered gamepad support while in the gamepad UI but you still could use a mouse/keyboard
2. Participating in my first scroll run assist and actually making it back to turn it in with a quest.

I literally have those "oh, so that's how that works" moments every day. Been playing off and on since Xbox launch, very casually and I still get overwhelmed at how many different features this game has. Havent played many MMO's but this is by far the largest game I've played to date.

when I pressed shift while mounted and realized my mount can move faster. This was after playing for six months without knowing.

Figuring out Animation canceling for the first time. Though, tbh, I refuse to intentionally do it, I'm pretty bad at it in general, and I hate how it makes combat look all glitchy and broken.

I may never make it into a vet trials group, but I still won't animation cancel.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot but here's some I remember:

1) Not realising you didn't need tools to gather materials until after I accidentally pressed E next to a log and spent a few minutes hunting through my inventory for the axe I'd somehow picked up without knowing it.

2) Feeling like I was taking a huge risk when I went into deep water the first time because I didn't know if you could swim in this game...then realising it was fine and you could swim...then dying from slaughterfish a few minutes later.

3) Spending ages carefully searching every inch of several empty areas because I was convinced this game was more like GW2 and sooner or later I'd find a hidden dungeon or a puzzle or something more complicated than a random treasure chest.

4) Taking off my boots every time I wanted to sneak because I thought it worked like other TES games and you'd make less noise and be harder to spot in bare feet.

Mine was discovering that you could port from one wayshrine to another for free. I must have wasted a lot of money early on porting to a wayshrine when I was within sniffing distance of one.

Well since you asked, when I first started, similarly mentioned above, once i found out how to switch between first and third person i was pretty happy to say the least because, i would switch between them by accident, not realizing it was as simple as scrolling.

I should probably answer for myself as well after being so demanding of poor ZOS employees.

I think one of the most embarrassing ones for me was learning how other Nightblades used Shadow Cloak.
I had always seen the skill and thought "3 seconds, what's the point of that stealth?" and it wasn't until a friend in PvP said about staying in cloak all the time I ask "How it's only 3 seconds?" to which he replayed "you keep casting it?"

I kind of sat there stunned at my own idiocy in not realising I could just cast the skill again and again to stay hidden.

When I figured out that you were supposed to use your skills a ton in combat, rather than just mostly using light and heavy attacks with an occasional skill thrown in here and there as a special powerful move (ie. I was used to Skyrim combat where I was mostly just hacking and slashing while occasionally throwing in a spell).

I think I had about finished with Betnikh and just come back to Glenumbra at about level 8-10 when I figured that one out

While I try to keep the add-ons to a minimum, I too have that sky shard finder add-on installed (my other two installed add-ons being one that adds a mini-map that I keep on the upper left of the screen and one that adds the real-life time that I keep near the upper right of the screen).

Number of times I have looked at map for quest locations while at wayshrine then ported from map mode paying 148 gold

also that quest zone for stuff like the thief guild quests is in the quest description.

the bad ones, realizing how Power Surge changed my sorcerer from having problems with 4 mobs into running trough an public dungeon trying to pull as much as possible.

As a pet sorc, you can command your summons to attack on PC by holding down Y and clicking the target with your mouse.

I found this out last month.

Mine was the moment I finished spending MONTHS and got Master Fisher. I was on VOIP with my buds, and complaining about all the wet gunny sacks I was left with and that I thought they should vendor for more than 1 gold since they take up a whole inventory spot. My sister in law was like "Katie.....you've been OPENING your gunny sacks right?" ....I sat there...looked at my inventory and then right clicked and there it was. You dont even want to KNOW how many I vendored.

Pretty much every time I play I have a moment like that. And I've been playing for considerably more than a year, although mostly as a casual player. I'm definetely not a hard-core gamer, so there's always something. It wasn't until just now, today, in another thread, that I learned there were visual cues during the fights that tell you to block or hit. I feel really stupid about that one!
