First of all: Welcome! *hands out obligatory sweet rolls and skooma welcome package*

Second of all, take your time! I honestly didnt take provisioning like some of the others. I do say YES decon every glyph you find, enchanting is the WORST to level. But if you are going to ever craft armor or weapons of any kind, make sure you are researching a trait at all times.

Also, dont forget to train your horse every 24 hours for speed, stamina, or storage space. Oh and dont forget to have a weapon ability equipped on your bar so you are earning extra weapon XP as those skill lines level too!

Enchanting though, for the love of goodness decon every glyph you find starting last week! It takes FOREVER to level. Like the equipment crafts, you can just decon stuff and level up the craft. No need to put skill points into it yet. Later on the line when you have some skill points to spare you can drop them into crafting, and if you have been deconstructing your crafts will already be half levelled up!

Ugh. Leveling Enchanting is The Worst. D:

A tip there? Find an Enchanting Buddy. Your daughter, for example. Then, spend an hour together every once in a while just making a bunch of the highest level glyphs you can make and passing them back and forth for the other to deconstruct. You get pretty much no experience deconning your own glyphs, but someone else's can get you up decently quickly. The problem is you have to decon in bulk, because individual rune decons are slow as snails. XP

it is quicker, and less painful, to just decon drops.....

I recall, way back when, people were given temporary bans for doing this.

People would craft a bunch of daggers and stuff, then swap them, and deconstructed them. Zenimax said it was some sort of gameplay exploit at the time.

That was 3 years ago, though, so I don't know if they've changed their attitude about it since then.

It is not at all quicker to decon drops. My first enchanter took at least 6 months to level up just on drops, and that's deconing the drops of 9 characters. Leveling was much quicker once I got a second alt in on it and banked glyphs back and forth between them so that each was deconing the other's. It's grindy, but it's much faster.

To everyone who advised me to take my time: That's precisely how I played every other TES game.

Morrowind? Twice through before I ever installed a mod (and I play on PC - and there were so many great mods even then), and that includes Better Faces or Better Bodies. Just pure pixilated Morrowind. The first time through, after I finally defeated Dagoth Ur, I walked down the mountain, all the way back to the Foreign Quarter in Vicec, to the Black Shalk Cornerclub. There I bought a drink from Raril Giral to celebrate my victory.

Oblivion? I made it through the main quest before adding a mod, past that magical moment when every bandit in Cyrodiil suddenly acquired elven armor. :D Just me and my ugly Nord with a round face.

    Skyrim?

PS - Don't ask if/why/why not dragons exist in ESO on the forums. Just.. don't.

I'm probably going to get some heat from this but here goes: I didn't like Skyrim all that much. I mean, I didn't stop me from sinking 400+ hours into the game. But the entire dragon story and that horrible ending ... meh. I liked it for the sandbox gameplay and the stories I made up myself. That was it.

No dragons is probably too many dragons for me. Sorry, old guy here. Even the people riding bears makes me cringe.
Welcome, welcome! My advice: Read The Count of Monte Cristo I bet you'll love it. Absolutely love it.

Hmmm ... sounds familiar. Where have I heard of that book before?

P.S. Thanks to everyone for the very helpful advice.
