I failed at trolling a friend with something like this recently. I started off just switching everything from the state it was already in - if it was off I turned it on, and if it was on I turned it off. Then part way through I decided to just turn everything off, so I went back to the ones I had started with. Then I started to get a sense for just how many lights there were in and around this home and decided it was way too much effort to go and turn them all off, so I just went back to the ones I had already switched and tried to put them back the way they were before I got there (or as close to it as I could remember).

I did this to someone once. wanted to let them know someone had visited.

But then I decided it was a bad idea so stopped doing it.

Either make lights have their own access permissions, or lump it in with decorator status.

Meh. I open my house only to specific people.. If you open it to the general populace of the guild it is expected to have trolls.. Deal with it or be smart..

Sounds like a lot of coding time that could be spent on more dire things to me. Perhaps the OP could just be more stringent on who he/she allows in the house in the first place?

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

You have been the worst kind of trolls I've ever encountered. With this new way to harass people me and many of my guildies have been plauged with serial light extinguishers and it has been a royal pain in my butthole.

Please ZOS add a way for me to switch the lighting permissions so people can't turn them off.

It takes way to long to go around and find all my lights. And ruins the ambiance I have spent so much time creating when random people or friends visit and its all dark.

I've been able to play ESO for years relatively troll free until this awful way to annoy me has been introduced.

I spent a lot on My house with both crowns and gold and have already since console launch but many many hours into decorating. My home is beautiful and I very much enjoy people visiting it! I want them to come and see it! But this new method of trolling makes me lock up my big house take away visitor access and set my tiny house as my main home. Just to keep the trolls away.

Please @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Consider adding a way to stop others from interacting with my lights!!!!

Rather than put the task of making new menu items in the list and add a whole new section to the save file to keep a separate list of approved lighting people...

How about adding one master toggle that turns on all lights in the residence?

You walk in, open housing editor, hit the toggle. All lights turn on. What took them several minutes to do was undone by you in less than 5 seconds.

I started to sink the lights in a bit or put them in very odd ways to prevent this from happening! I actually have been lucky on my house but my friends have been hit by the great-dark-capers.

Yeah if they are in the wall so you need to use "retrieve" to get them back, people can't turn them off. Figured this out as... I was trying to turn off all of @REzRyder 's lights. lol.

Seriously though hopefully everyone gets their kicks and gets over it. I intentionally only did it to friends that I figured would get a good laugh out of it - not just picking randoms from any guilds.

Tbh I thought earlier that there should be an option to turn off and on all the lights with just a single click or button. Now it seems this would be the solution for "events" like this.

So to touch on a few subjects.

    1. My guilds are huge and if I even let one guild in there are trolls lurking everywhere. So being selective may be an option. But the point is I WANT lots of people in my house. So its more lively. We all know the problem of empty dead homes

    2. Even having an option to turn on all the lights instantly dosent stop the ruining of my ambiance. I want the lights always on when people visit not just turned off all day while I'm off line so anyone who visits sees a dark house.

    3. Funny trolling amongst friends is fine but this is happening every day. They are always off. And I only have my main guild have access now. So its obviously a troll amongst the rosters.

    4. I just want to enjoy my home and have it open to the public without trolls thinking they are funny and going through all my hard work and make me go around fixing everything. Its not what I want to spend my time doing.

    3. Funny trolling amongst friends is fine but this is happening every day. They are always off. And I only have my main guild have access now. So its obviously a troll amongst the rosters.

If you've narrowed it down to a single guild, here's what I'd try:
    1. Talk to the leader of that guild. Tell them your situation, and see if they can institute a No Griefing policy, possibly stating in the daily announcements that members of the guild have been reporting Housing-related trolling, and that this is against guild policy. It may not stop the trolls, but it would give the guild justification to kick out these players, once found, on the grounds of harassment.
    2. Then, start watching the guild roster. When you log in and find the lights off, go to the guild roster and see who logged in since you last turned all your lights on. Write down all the names.
    3. Then, do Step 2 again.
    4. Then, again.
    5. Do this for a week or two and figure out what member or members are commonly on when your lights go off. Ban them individually from your house and see if the griefing stops.
    6. You may identify some people unfairly, just because they're active... so when the griefing stops, start unbanning people and see if it starts up again. It may be multiple people, so you might need to do some trial and error to get the list narrowed down enough to be sure.
    7. When you figure out who it is, submit the name(s) to your guild leader because, chances are if you're having an issue with this person, other members are as well. Even if the guild doesn't ban them outright, even a stern warning could be enough to curb this behavior.

It's work to do all this, but as annoying as this is, it'd probably be worth it in the long run.

If your guild leader isn't willing to help out with this, just try steps 2-6. It doesn't nip the problem in the bud, but it at least keeps your lights on.

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Take your house off Visitors-ALL. Manually add the names of the 10 people you know who won't turn off your lights to get a reaction out of you. That's the end of your problem.

So, what you're saying is he should restrict his house to ten people because of a light issue? I don't think you have a house, or at least a large one. His house is one of the largest and is used for target dummy DPS testing, guild events like Hide and Seek. If he has to restrict it to a list of twelve or less than he would be changing it constantly. I believe an "all lights on" option would be an easy fix for this issue, or restrict light toggle for visitors.

I would not restrict the number of people access, that simply allows trolls win.

If you don't have guildies that respect your home and leave the lights as they are, then you need to find new guildes.
