What's up with Master Writs?

I am confused about how the system works. My main crafter has read all motif books (except the newest ones), knows all purple and gold recipes, 9 traits researched, maxed skills but I have still not received a Master Writ.

I have friends who have been rewarded with multiple writs on characters who are just mules.

What gives? Do I need to sacrifice more mudcrabs to RNGesus to catch a break?

It is an RNG thing. I can say, that out of 12 characters, only about 7 of which can do any master writs, and only 5 of which can do all of them, I get between 1-5 master writs a day, and, due not to having any craft completely maxed out, I can actually complete usually 1-3 of them. But that is because I tend to spam my crafting writs. Each of my 12 characters (3 of which are not even veterans), does all 6 normal writs every day. More or less, I end up gaining a decent amount of gold through this, and a chance at better items. Most of my master writs that I've gotten are lower value writs, though I have 2 characters who each have more than 100 master writ tokens on them. It is mostly hit or miss, but having multiple characters doing writs makes a big difference.

Struggling to get master writs too. I've had a grand total of 4 since they were introduced. Two on one char for woodworking & clothing. My alchemy char has also had two.

Thanks for the input. Crossing my fingers I finally get one today.

I have the same issue on my Master crafter.

This could be just a coincidence, but I seem to have better luck doing writs on my secondary crafter first. Then do writs on your main.

I was 0 for 24 until I finally got one.

Thanks for the tip. I just hope when I get one that it is a top tier 1

I suspect that increased chance with the more traits and motifs you have is reflected as 0.1% per each. I was also upset that the Basket of Gours I found was a misspelling of Goirds and not Guars. I thought it was going to be like a basket of puppies.

Yes, it's terrible frustrating having prepared your master crafter for this and not getting any writ the first days. Sadly they chose this system locked behind RNG instead of making a more slow-steady one.
You get a few in the future, too few in my opinion though. :|

I have had similar experiences thus far. I have 3 crafting toons - a tailor/provisioner/enchanter, a smith, and a woodworker/alchemist. All 3 have their respective trades maxed out, all traits learned, with multiple purple motifs under their belts. They do their crafting writs daily. Since the release of Homestead I've not seen one master writ drop as a reward from crafting writ dailies. I've felt like I've been missing some step along the way, but from what I can see in this (and other) threads, it's just a matter of me not having enough faith in RNGesus to believe one day the writs will come.

The increase from having all motifs and traits known seems quite insignificant, in my experience.

My main crafter knows all traits, and all motifs (even the newest) and the drop rate of Master Writs seems to be about the same I'm getting on my other characters, that are level 50 in crafts but learnt no purple motifs, and have only 6/7 traits learnt per item.

So if you really want those writ vouchers, it really pays to have an army of characters, all doing writs, every day (until you run out of materials).

Took me 15 days on 8 chars to get a couple master writs finally, one of which is my main crafter which knows everything but 9 more pages of akaviri, but needs like 15-20 more traits to complete all 9 trait items.

    Same here.

Last time this was discussed, oh it must be all of a week ago, it was suggested that the thing that points to a higher drop rate for master writs is the general crafting achievement bar. The higher your progress on that bar the better your chances. I have a couple of level 50 Provisioners and they have yet to receive a master writ after getting on for 20 tries each, but their general crafting achievement progress is probably only one centimeter across if that so their odds are pretty negligible.

My main crafter who know I think it's 35 ish motifs (could be more) partials of rest. 9 traits All green, all but 3 blue and 5purple recipes ( that's Moved slow, as I have had to farm them) most achievements like the harvest 10000 one. Has got one alchemy writ for two voucher.

My Templar an 8-9 trait crafter who knows 20 styles and bits an pieces here and there ( I learned motifs I farmed, that never sold on her too) she kicked off with a 77 writ reward and got a 7 a 14 I think it was and a few 2s. I've been doing them 4 days.

My sorc and other nb who are just all over the place with traits, but have 50 skill have had at least 2 writs each. Even my tank who is only doing enchanting and alchemy has had 1 so she's in a draw with the master crafter...seems those motifs I've farmed and spent on get me nothing. Yet the half baked crafter ( my Temp ) is doing well.i think surely it's not meant to be like this.

That makes sense. I don't think I'm very far in that bar. I need to look when the XBOX servers come back up.

Yeah I just have a feeling the achievements didn't do anything to improve the chances, might as well make traits / motifs server wide now

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to even get a master writ you need to be level 50 in the skill and with maxed out skill to make the highest level items?

The thing missing in my exposé, is that characters having most crafting achi pts, still are getting very noticably less writs. My main is missing just 3 More formulas to get it at 100%, and yet,she brought me much less writs than my "lesser crafter" chars.

The main downfall of the master writ system is that the vouchers cannot be transferred... I might be in the minority, but I have separate toons that are Master crafters in Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking respectively... Does not make sense that vouchers are not account wide...

Just do not open them, put them in your bank and withdraw to the one character.

I have three characters doing writs, my master crafter (all traits all but the new motifs) has had two or three alchemy and two provisioner writs totaling about 15 vouchers, the remaineder of my 142 total came from my alt crafters with only about a third of the traits and only the books of motifs.
