Are you still selling well? Open market flaw?

If you're still selling well, it most likely won't be long.
The amount of the house spending outweighs the rate of our earnings from NPCs by far.
The economy is going to eat everyone poor, dragging prices low and still not enough earnings.
    In the long run.

And we don't want to be dirt poor when morrowind hits, I'll be spending in that land for housing etc, we really need cash flow back in the economy where we can in some way earn them back from NPCs.

The cash flow coming into the economy hasn't changed. They haven't reduced the amount of gold entering, just the total amount that is sitting in peoples banks or being passed between players.

And since gold is still entering the economy at the same rate it did there's no reason to think everyone is going to have trouble making back the gold they spent on housing. Yes those who make most of their money from trading might have to adjust which items they buy and sell, at least in the short term, but that's normal and can happen even without any kind of update.

The rich folks who are able to spend 45k on the paintings, can no longer buy anymore, cos they're spent.
Prices dropped to 35k in a day and still not selling.
With more people able to supply them cos farming, and price is just gonna drop sharply. And still nobody can afford to buy cos all spent.
When nobody is buying, the economy is dead.

I disagree, Akl77. Sure, there's going to be a dip where people aren't selling or buying much, but soon enough people will have bought everything for their house and will go back to dailies and questing, and gold will again flow back into the economy.

Remember, 4k every day, per character - for writs alone. That's 6k that's added to the economy out of thin air. A lot of people did writs before housing patch, and a lot will do them well after housing.

That's 28,000 a week, per character - if you only do writs.

Most people do a lot more than just writs. It might take a little while, but crying that it's the end of the economy as we know it strikes me as a tad alarmist.

I agree, I do all 6 writs daily and dungeons daily as well. I have steady small income, but that's no where of how I got my millions.
I farm and sell motifs way much more. Now in a while who's going to buy that rare motif from you? The rich people no longer exists, who are you going to make riches from?

As usual, new update cause large market changes, something (including tempers this time which is unusual but very predictable) goes down, something up. But generally as usual first weeks of update are the best for sellers, I am doing about 5 times more than average, but on completely different staff.

I don't really see us not being able to charge an arm and a leg for a motif to be a bad thing, to be honest. Everyone having less gold means that gold is worth more.

@Soella - not exactly the same, honestly. Never has there been this large a gold sink introduced to the game, is (I believe) What they mean. The gold isn't going from player to player with a percentage taken out, it's being taken out of the economy completely.

Definitely huge gold sink was introduced, and I really appreciate it. But we fill it in longer perspective. For example, I would not be surprise to see gold tempers at half of current price or even less in three months, most of gear the same. But at the start of new update always there are people who wants target dummy or this painting right now. And people had tons of gold to spend on it, because there is no gear update this time.

Sellers probably should be more creative (and more prepared, I had 1K+ bones for example) to make money this time.

The issue is, that ZOS introduced gold sink, but kept trade system which favor sellers, not buyers. Plus huge number of new items added, I fear to think how people on consoles without addons gonna survive

I have no gold and the economy is dead.

I'm making more now then ever and the economy is great.

This thread is cracking me up.

Me personally, I've spent millions and still have millions. My recommendation: Stop fiddling with things that earn you nothing and farm like a boss. Grind dat sheet. My gold didn't come from NPC's it came from massive hours grinding the content and farming up the desirable stuff. Alternatively, spend your time fiddling with things that earn you nothing, but are fun for you and don't complain that you're broke.

Not everyone has hours to grind. Some have to play smart and earn millions within few hours/week. Is it challenge? Yes. Same as it is challenge to bit VMA best time or dominate in PVP.

I'm guessing most people would have spent 80% of their in game gold to purchase their home, that's a lot of money gone out of the in game economy and into ZOS's hands.

Where would those money flow back into the economy from ZOS?
I mean we're basically all poor now.

No, those golds are deleted from the game. They didn't "go into ZOS's hands", ZOS doesn't have them, they are straight-up deleted. Golds are created again through raw gold that you get from killing mobs, doing quests, writs, selling junks.

I think what people want to buy has changed a bit. Market is in flux. Why would it not be? Many changes are hitting it. It will all get smoother in the months to come. Just ride it out. The very best thing that can be done for the Trade Market in this game lands on the guild leaders. Kick out the players that do not log in. Invest in the newcomers and teach them how to play and make money. Encourage people and don't spread fear. The sky is not falling.

Sales dwindled mid week onward, not just materials for homesteads. Perhaps with all the farming going on in general, there is little requirement for players to shop at traders.

I am in 4 large trade guilds - pretty good statistics. I just checked - alltogether 4 guilds have been selling last 4 weeks about 30% more than before update. It is pretty volatile now - one guild doubled volume, another went up one week, went down next week, but altogether seems to be statistically meaningful.

A lot of people spend lot of gold on houses, but now they are furnishing them - which require a lot of grind/stealing/questing - and as for now I think the market is pretty vivid. As I wrote, effect of additional gold sink shows itself mainly of previous bestsellers, not on the market as whole yet.

I am number 1 in sales in a popular trading guild (500 members) with trader in mournhold pc na. Over 1million in sales this past week. Mostly stacks of alchemy raw materials that I purchased with about 350000 telvar from telvar merchant. Also some motifs from drops in mazzaturn. Would not agree sales are slowing. The only product I have had trouble movingly fast is columbine. It seems the price has dropped a lot of people don't want it as much or something. Hard to even move a stack of 200 for 42k gold. It was at like 65k gold for 200 not long ago and 330g each. Can spend that gold on a house just waiting on next expansion to see what is available.

Any time something new comes to the game you have players that must have it right now. Some players grind like crazy to get it and some are willing to pay the high prices. The players willing to pay the high prices were sitting on all that gold. It might as well not have been in the game. The people that did the grinding and put the paintings up for sale now have that gold. They could in turn spend it or they could sit on it waiting for something else. The gold is still there just somebody else has it now.

Price naturally come down on items after they have been in the game for a while. The rarity of the items determines how long the high prices will continue. There will come a point where the people who want paintings will have them and the prices will drop to a point it isn't worth grinding for them any longer. Happens with everything. As an example when first introduce the mud ball pouch was selling for a lot of gold. Now you can't give them away. The people that want them got them.

Looking at the purchasing of houses that is gold leaving the game. For the most part though it was gold not being used. A few people might have spent all the gold they had because they had to have the biggest and best right now but many had more than enough gold anyway and now finally have something to spend it on. I know some who were short on funds planned ahead and started grinding to earn gold for the house they wanted. had housing not come out that gold would not have been in the game to start.

The amount of gold in the game isn't zero sum.

There was an issue in last weeks update to PS4 which caused listed guild trader items to stop appearing in the item search.

I had to de-list everything I had for sale in my guilds and re-list them before they would show up in an item search. Once I did that I sold about 80k of stuff in an hour. When I listed my sealed master writs that I could not do, they were snapped up quick smart.

Yeah everything seems to lose value in time, except for motifs / mats it seems, just a recession of housing atm not alot of other things selling besides furniture atm. I got tired of trying to sell my master writs I got, so I just used them got around 250 then bought a 50 one to use and grabbed the ebony motif (full one to use).
