Zos, Plz stop duplicating costumes

Merchant Lords Formal Disguise.
Majestic "Dune Rider" ensemble.
Are of the 2 costumes that are nearly exact same. Just gold & white schemed. I had just noticed this & now I cant refund Majestic.
& this happened to blacksmith & chef too right?
& then recently. Pirate disguise & drifting sand tunic & sash. Are the same just without a belt along the chest.

Now, I don't know if there are more duplicated costumes out there or not.
It just needs to be stopped & We get excited to see new costumes come each month then bummed to see it's the same as another costume just very slightly different.

Agree to stop this & get different looks instead of exact / simular ones.

Or disagree and let it continue

    Technically... They aren't duplicates...

Like the wedding gown and evening dress. Obviously one was made off the other, but they changed a bit of the dress to be able to say it's different.

I disagree as I don't care much about them duplicating items with a slight aesthetic differences. I care more about dying and serious lack in exotic costumes.
Dragonborn, huh? Was it your ma or your pa that was the dragon?

We all know they take the shortest route to produce new things that they think will generate income. They want to save themselves money and time and already know from past experience it will sell. Just like the new crown crates, the mounts in them are a simple edit of the storm mounts. Costumes are no different. Housing was all made with pre-existing models. Even racial passives between two different races, with different descriptions, can share the same icon.. it's just laziness on their part.

ZOS, if you are going to put so much focus on generating revenue from the crown store at least put some serious effort into the items you are selling.

There used to be a use for the the same clothes different colours but that was removed with the introduction of costume dyes.

I would rather see new original costumes over new colours of the same costumes. I am a little more accepting of this with mounts because there is no way to change their look and some people prefer specific colours for their mounts.

    Agreed.

And I really don't see the problem here... if two costumes come out based on another so they get two sales for the price of one design, just buy the one you like better.
    There, problem solved.
Its not like we otherwise would get two different designs - we'd just get one, peroid.

But then, you buy a costune you later find out you already own another one. That looks just like it.

Or just remove costumes all together, 99% of them are lame anyway, all this victorian look makes me wanna puke, it has nothing to do with TES setting + there is no player effort to actually craft/get something that looks okish. Changing costume animation on players is annoying aswell :P

Zenimax needs to be able to have stuff to sell in the crown store
    Removing costumes would lower profit.
Which they need to make money by selling crowns & the game to try and keep the game online. The game isn't a subscriber required anymore but sure they do still make good amount of money.
They just need to make the costumes not look the same & call it something else.

The terrible design of the motif armors and the monster helmets requires a costume to cover up your shame in public... especially the monster helmets...

these costumes are so poorly detailed lately- i feel like an NPC walking around. compared to drop sets and easier pieces- with detail, texture , different types of fabric- too man of the costumes look shoddy.

I would like more options for robes. We have 1 robe in the game, the Dark Brotherhood one. What about some cool crown store robes for magicians? Or are they not skimpy enough?

Well for robes there is quite a few for disguises.
But costumes, think I seen a couple but they should work on more costume types.
    -Bandit
    -Mages
    -Knights
    And many more types.
    People love costumes on ESO
But I think Zenimax could benefit alot off this if they put more time or designers or whatever into costumes.
The more costume types there are, the more different looks in costumes. The better.

Personally I find 90% of the costumes to be dull and bland anyway. The only one I remotely like is the Black Hand Robe, other than that, no costumes interest me in the slightest bit.

Polymorphs are nice, I do like the Xyvkin polymorphs and the pumpkin spectre polymorph. Besides that, everything else looks very lame. I'm no artists but I could probably do a better job than most of the artwork put on the costumes list.

To answer OP's curiousity, there are indeed more duplicate costumes with different colours.

More paying attention, less regrets paying crowns! ;)

I know what costumes I have. I have yet to buy one I regret having... of course, I do on occasion buy both versions even though they do look pretty similar because I want the flexibility for some roleplay, but that IS my decision, each can make their own choice about this.

It not the costumes you should be worried about its the mounts, who are literally just pallet swapped version of each other with all the tigers, horses, wolves, guars, camels and bears and each costing like 2.5k crowns or even higher.

Still in the end if you have one don't buy the duplicate, easy.

They are pushing so hard for insane motif grind, I'm surprised they are offering any costumes at all. More and better costumes will allow people to more easily skip the motif grind.
