My friend has an account that states Active - Trial but he has a product key on his box, when he tries to activate the key that is on his account but it says invalid code
He has played the game before he was part of Alpha and Beta, and played it after with that account and that code..

If that's the case obviously the code will not work now ... since it worked for a specific set of dates in the past.
Seems like your friend is simply averse to ponying up real money for the regular game ... which can be found at a discount now at a lot of outlets.0
