SO. after about a month of restarting my main as Nightblade. i finally made it to the coveted 50 !!!

i notice there isnt a whole lot of info or tutorial prompts for explain what exactly Champion Points are and Im sure there are already a millions threads discussing this topic but im lazy. and excited. and finally going to go back and try to beat the bosses I was stuck on at lvl 43.

i guess my real questions are
  • what should i spend my points on?
  • What does it all mean?
  • How long roughly till i get to the even more Coveted CP160
  • What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen African swallow
  • Whats going to be the best avenue for me, in terms of my build and such?

any help would be appreciated.

Won't take long to get to 160, a random normal dungeon should give you like 20 cp straight up

    one month to reach lv50?
then probably 2 weeks to reach cp160. or faster than that.because everyday you get 100,000 points of inspiration, which means you gain xp at 400% rate for the first 100k points (ie, you get 400k xp). the maximum limit of inspiration point you can save up is 1,200,000 (12 days). since you played for 1 months, your inspiration is already maxed.

you can play random normal dungeon for easy fast xp and to further familiarize yourself with the dungeons. you can try some easier veteran dungeons like Fungal Grotto I too.

it's cheap to reset champion points, so put them anywhere you like.

for red points, reduce physical damage received and reduce magical/elemental damage received are important. reduce damage from light attack and heavy attack is helpful. increase healing received is useful. increase critical hit resistance is only useful for pvp (mobs don't crit).

for green points, reduce stamina/magicka cost, increase stamina/magicka recovery, reduce breakfree/roll dodge cost

for blue points, increase physical/magical damage, increase critical hit damage, improve damage over time skill (many skills are consider damage over time)

when you hit cp160, you can get your guild to help you get started with one or two crafted sets first. then you play dungeons a bit to farm the other sets you want.

Or the even more coveted point cap, which in Homestead is 600. I feel for you.

But dont stress on it, just keep playing the game, keep questing, do every delve you find, try a normal difficulty group dungeon or two, just busy your mind with tasks and the CP will roll in as you go along.

As for spending, look for the passives under the three blue groups and spend them on increasing your damage done, depending on if youre a stamina character or a magic one.

When enlightened: took me a few weeks i think just questing on an easy pace. When grinding should not take you more than a few days. For the last 10 points i got impatient and i grinded, took me about 40 minutes i think to get from 150-160 that way (join some dolmen grind group somewhere like Alikr' desert).

If you want to min/max your build look up some builds online. If you are very stubborn like me.. my nightblade is a stam saptank xD

What should I spend my points on?

What you should spend your champion points on depends if you want to do pve or pvp. I would say you can just spend all attriute points in stamina as you are a khajiit.

    What does it all mean?

Champion points are a bit simular to those you had in Skyrim if you played that. You can spend up to 200 in each color (red, blue and green) and they each have different perks. Everything from better spell penetration to reduce cost of block and break free. I suggest you read all of the perks and find a build online as this is your first char I guess.

How long roughly till I get to the even more Coveted CP160?

Getting to CP160 depends how much you play, but it doesn't take long. Try the group finder for random dungeon plus the dailies and gain a good amount of xp. Maybe do main questline through all alliances for some extra skillpoints and xp.

Whats going to be the best avenue for me, in terms of my build and such?

It all depends on what build you choose, where you play (pvp/pve), your playstyle and personal preferences. Sure you can copy a build, but I always suggest people to find a build that fits for them. If you don't understand the rotation of a certain build, try another or do some small changes to make it fit YOU.

Now this is just my advice, feel free to disagree or message me :d

Yeah now you pretty much build out your character. Think of what you will be playing. Player verse player or pve? Are you a magic nightblade or a stamina nightblade? Try too focus mainly on one of these stats and a bit of health. My stamina nightblade focuses on physical damage and critical chance. So I run my points 50/50 ish between stamina and health with just 2-3 in magic(for shadowy disuise). What weapon types at you using? I run duel weild on my front bar and bow on my back. A good setup for armor too start with is 5pc hundings rage and 4pc night mothers. These are both fairly powerful combined and work well in pvp and pve. Your champ points are pretty complicated as they depend on your build. I'd recommend looking up builds on YouTube. For pvp id recommend fengrush or sypher ok and for pve id look up alchast or deltia. Another tip is if you're comfortable doing so post your gamer tag or account name on the forums and many people will be willing too walk you through it in game. Hope this helps

Seriously though... now the grind starts.. buckle up, put on your helm and googles, keep your arms inside the ride at all times, and try not to kill yourself. On the upside, the harder content is now more feasible if you are into PvE, but expect cp and gear grinding, it is an MMO after all..

In terms of builds, it all depends on what flavour you are into, do you like DPS (and then magicka or stamina based) or Healer or Tank? Personally I'd recommend trying stamina dps with a nightblade, although magicka can also be quite fun.

yeah ive been trying to build a stamina nightblade dread assassin.

i like sneaky rogues, but also want survivability and damage output

so far i dont seem to have that, more so now than ever. i cant get through a single story quest.

how much fun is a game you have to grind just to play. by the time im at any level i might survive at, ill be so exhausted, beating the quest wont even be fun.
but no lie, right now i have 4 open quests that ive all but abandoned cuz i cant face the final boss and i rage quit before i run out of grand soul gems.

First and foremost huge congrats on reaching Lv.50. Well done, and may you have many more Lv.50 characters in your future. As for what's next...? Veteran content. And naturally after gathering what you need from that, Veteran Maelstrom Arena. Upon beating VMA, VMoL awaits you. From there? Freedom.

I haven't gotten that far in db yet so I cantsay much there. What system are you on? PC x1 ps4? The way the game works generally is the higher you work for damage output the more you take away from health sustainability and overall survivability. I'm on Xbox 1 so if your on the console pm me your gt and ill try too help. Nightblades are the class I know best as I run them mainly and have a magic build and stamina build.

    Next step vmol.

    LOL vMA first then vMOL

vMA is completely single player. vMOL is completely aimed at coöperation in a team. Really the only thing they have in common is a requirement for high DPS and some situational awareness, but most people are even running different sets & skills or even builds for both. The craglorn veteran trials will prepare you a lot more, as well as good knowledge of nMOL. Barely played vMA myself, yet I'm able to complete vMOL easily with our guild. For some classes and builds you'll need to grind the weapons perhaps, but that's the only thing on vMA which helps vMOL really.

However all of this end-game content simply can't be done until you've mastered your class and character pve-wise. On lvl 50 but without CP you're still far away from endgame pve levels, as you've just started playing there. First start hitting 160, get some decent gear after that, and work on normal/veteran dungeons and normal trials if that's what you like, or join azura's star for non CP-pvp content. Get yourself some nice pve or pvp guilds and play with them together and work on your build.

You dont, unless you copy pretty much exactly what the other trial runners do, not to mention have full CP and maybe a Maelstrom weapon. I dont have the skin and frankly its not enticing enough to put yourself through that much effort.

Here is my concern and what other people seem to be glossing over when giving you approximate times to reach CP160... the fact that it took you a month to reach level 50 when most people do that in a couple of days. So it is really tough to give an estimate if you aren't a player playing several hours per day; you get out of it what you put into it. It is relatively easy to gain CP160 because of the catch-up mechanic, but it all depends on how much time you spend in the game as well.

Well I don't play every day, but when I do I play through several hours. I started playing less because they harder it got, I couldn't complete quests. I couldn't level up. That's the only reason. I have the Litany of Blood and Kari's Girlish finished. Because I needed a walk. (Leveled up once entirely on map locations and wayshrines.)
