ESO Playerbase - bigger on PC or PS4?

Howdy, guys

My wife and I would like to start playing ESO. We actually own both the PS4 and PC versions, but we haven't played either one since they released. Does anyone know if there is a bigger playerbase on PC or PS4? I am traditionally a PC player. I have played WoW for 12 years now, among many other PC games. However, I was wondering if this game is doing better on the PS4, due to having limited MMOs on the consoles.

I'm pretty sure the PC world is a lot bigger, but that doesn't mean PS4 is lacking people

I'm sure both are well populated. The only advantage PC has is add-ons. It really depends on personal preference.

I saw a few people saying the exact opposite, about PS4 being bigger than PC. Haha. May I ask which version that you play?

I play both PS4 and PC and find both player bases to be about equal.
I do believe PvP is slightly more populated on PS4 however.

Somehow i doubt that. On PC EU we have 2 fully pop locked campaigns on daily basis. And on weekends almost all campaigns are pop locked. Dont know about NA.

Our campaigns are pop locked also NA servers.
Do you actually play on PS4 or just basing this on doubts?
I actually play on both and find much more PvP activity on PS4 which is natural on consoles.
In any event OP go with what you are comfortable with as there is plenty of population on both platforms.

PC NA is the smallest of the megaservers in population. You only see a single pop locked campaign at prime time, in terms of PvP. Console populations tend to dwarf PC populations, at least in NA.

Welcome to Tamriel, whichever platform you both choose! I play on PC and find it booming. I think you have many more options with PC than you will have with console. Enjoy!

Hello, and welcome to ESO. From the perspective of playing on both Mac and PS4 (NA servers), I can honestly say that the console version appears to be more populated by a long shot. This is assuming you meant on a consistent/regular basis. In fact, I'd say the player base has grew dramatically since the 1T launch on console more so. And I can only imagine how big it's going to get once Homestead goes live on PS4.

If you want to lay back on a bigger screen, friendlier community, less cheaters/exploiters, less glitches, less lag, no constant updates to your system and so on

Traditionally, when games are available on PC and consoles, the console market tends to be overwhelmingly dominant. It's why there's so much pressure for developers to release on consoles these days as well as PC.

It could be different with MMO's, but on most multiplayer games it's not unusual to see console player populations of 4x the PC population or higher (usually split between the Xbox One and PS4).

I played on PS4 for almost a year, switching to PC in October / November. Though One Tamriel seems to have increased numbers in general (which is a good thing), I get the impression that there are slightly more players on PC than PS4 (EU server). This isn't based on anything other than my general PvE observations. I could be completely wrong of course!

I loved playing on PS4, but similar to you i'm a PC gamer at heart - and have been for decades. There are some great people out there on PC and my experiences with other players has been much more 'positive' since the switch from console.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have as much fun playing the game as I have.

Last I heard, Xbox is by far the biggest population. But it has a very healthy population on all platforms. I play on PC NA, and it's great

You'll only end up wanting to switch to PC if you have access to both platforms and start on a console, so start on PC.

Population wise you honestly cant go wrong with any of the 3 options. Game is universally healthy, despite the frequent "people still play this?" comment that you often come across on a websites or message boards that arent the official forums, reddit, or massively.

Nonsense. Increased frame rate and camera movement via mouse make for incredibly fluid gameplay in both pvp and pve. And while not exactly advantages per se, potential faster load times and graphical fidelity are awesome things to have.

Couple that with addon like buff tracking, real time dps meters, gear / skill loadout presets and the ability to clean up the ui, and you have thr best version of eso available.

Personal preference is one thing. But pc is objectively the superior platform.

Doesn't PC have the least amount of campaign servers? Isn't that based on population? The only sales numbers we've seen PS4 about doubled PC, maybe not reliable but only info we actually have.
