What ZOS is going to do is release new items in CP170, but you will not be able to craft any items above CP160. So all your crafted sets will be fine. But if you want to get that slight edge, you will grind the new CP170 sets from wherever they drop.

I wish I could read this as a great joke and not the ominous shape of things to come. But the more I dive into crafting, the more I feel like the joke is on me. It is such a cool system, with some wonderfully robust options, and it is a part of the game that I will continue to enjoy up until the (as of yet completely undecided) "day I quit ESO will be..." moment. But...

    - Jewelry crafting, so that we can run 2x crafted sets. They can build in whatever scarcity-protection metric they have to in order to prevent people from self-golding dropped jewelry to preserve the vet-grind population. One possible solution would be to avoid an "improvement" skill (white->green->blue, etc) and make it more like Glyph crafting, where the color of the jewelry is related to the color of an ingredient required to make it.
    - At least a handful of candidates for BiS gear from crafting at any given time, even as the ebb and flow of meta- and balance-patch factors affect particular crafted sets. As it stands, crafted sets just seem to be sliding further down the list, from viable to sub-par to obscure to auto-kick.
    - Style changing on existing items, so that Motif knowledge actually gains an ounce of relevance. Grinding for weeks to get the pieces of a style - no matter how cool it looks - only really serves to help the (already minuscule) Master Writ drops. You can only wear a single crafted set, meaning that the other half of your gear is going to drop in a random assortment of a limited number of scripted styles, and if those aren't your preferred style, so be it. But if we could convert gear (dropped or otherwise) to a style we know, motifs would actually be worth hunting.

Meh. I didn't mean to rant, but this is relevant to me right now because I've been crafting like a madman to prepare for Homestead, and only really recently noticed how limiting the system is once you reach the highest tiers. I'd love to see it carve out a viable place at all stages of the game.

But yeah, the long-term good of the game will hinge on keeping players engaged in the hunt, so I will be here long after the OP if ESO is going the distance. Higher gear level? Bring it. Higher crafting passive/material levels? Bring it (and some more Skyshards for the specs, please). More traits to research, recipes to decipher, materials to compile, etc? My boots are laced. Let's dance.

Or... when you quit the game, please don't come back and keep posting. There's nothing worse than a disgruntled player who continues to claim to have quit the game while constantly posting negative comments. If you're going to leave, then leave, and close the ESO door behind you please.

    This please...

In all the MMOs I have played since 2003 I have never heard someone complain about game devs adding the ability for players to become more powerful or better equipped. This is a very special day indeed :0

I would be upset also if they only increase gear level 10 points. It's irritating enough being stuck at 160. It should go straight to 200 IMO.

What would that accomplish? Since the game scales, your DPS will remain 100% unchanged. You won't become any "stronger" which is what people seem to think will happen when they raise the gear cap.

The idea of having again to grind for months all over to get all the bis gear for all 3 roles again, would me make so sick. I would leave instantly. 100% serious.

Unless they allow to upgrade your gear for a small fee, or for raw materials like ancestor silk etc...

If they do this, then what exactly is the point of raising the equipment level anyway? There would be none.

Now I'm not saying they won't let you upgrade your equipment. I am saying if you think it will be for a 'small fee' you will probably be far far off the mark.

The reason would be to give some kind of progression, so as you spend more time in the game, you become more powerful.

You won't become more powerful due to scaling. Your DPS won't change one bit.

Gear cap increases only make sense in games like WoW or pre-One Tamriel ESO. Scaling completely negates the need for a cap increase.

Agreed. No good thing would come out of it. And to be honest it would be actually quite pointless. Someone else made a huge post about it explaining why it would be pointless in some other thread asking if this pointless change would become a pointless reality. Pointless.

You don't need a huge post to explain why it's pointless.

Scaling ensures that nothing will change after a gear cap increase.

If you increase your damage and resistance by X amount while also increasing the same stats for your enemy, you arrive at the exact same spot you started at.

It started out as a petty complaint, but it's gotten totally out of control with all the new content releases; storage capacity and inventory management has become such an issue for vet players that it's inhibiting our ability to play/develop our toons.

I can't believe it, but I am so frustrated with inventory management in game that I'm thinking about taking a break if not finding another game to play until ZOS addresses this issue.

We need mule storage, more bank storage, more character carrying capacity, and storage expansion ability to our homes. We need ALL of these options to properly address the inventory management issues in ESO.

Well, in every MMO I've ever been in, gear upgrades have always been part of the game. I actually am looking forward to a gear upgrade. My guess is it will be about 3 or so months after Morrowind and the upgrade will be 175-180 CP (I think).

I can't speak for others, but I like the sense of progression I personally get from gear upgrading. To me, if a game goes too long with no changes in gear, it starts to feel like I'm doing nothing in the game to really improve my character. So, I know you're not happy about the idea of gear upgrades, and I'm sorry about that.. but I would brace yourself if I were you, because I believe it's coming.

I will likely continue to log in a few times a month for as long as the game has servers. I will play any new DLC that isn't dungeons. Maybe at some point I will take dungeons on trials seriously. Even just finishing them all once would be enough for me.

I already detest all the rebalancing they regularly do, but that has never been enough to make me want to leave the game. I don't think I will ever be a daily player because time is limited and I don't want to use it to repeat content like dungeons or PvP.

I've already moved back to FF14 but, against my better judgement, I still browse the forums in the slight chance ZOS does something drastic enough to draw me back to ESO.

For them to have me stop even that, they would essentially need to kill this game completely by adding BIS gear to the crown store.

Yet you might well have been grinding different gear in the 17 months since they introduced VR16 ranks but didn't quit then. Would you really quit because you had to go through it again or is it only to get the same gear in a higher level rather than changing the BiS?
