Furniture Material drop rate feels a tad too low.

How odd, I actually felt the rate was quite fine when I gathered for a few minutes. I checked the stores and on day 1 Bast and others were already below 500gold.
So I think you might want to give it a week or two to judge if it's really too low.

I've been just collecting nodes randomly over the last couple of days, it really doesn't seem so bad so far:

    9 Alchemical Resin
    8 Bast
    5 Clean Pelts
    2 Decorate Wax
    13 Heartwood
    9 Mundane Rune
    10 Regulus

Honestly, that is a speedy enough rate that I can maintain my interest in my house... while still being rare enough that I will consider each piece I add.

So, I think all in all I have looted over 100 wood nodes tonight and I have only 5 heartwood that's dropped for making furniture. I am not sure this is worth the work, at least, I am not having fun anymore and I am utterly overwhelmed at the thought of how long it is going to take me to make a tables and chairs (between 6 and 10 per piece), let alone beds, wardrobes and counters.

Usually I don't mind a daily grind (for basic materials or to stock up for writs), but wanting something badly, so I can go craft, usually isn't this tedious or dull. I think they need to increase the rate in which these nodes drop their resources. Does anybody feel the same? Has anybody had more luck? Is it just terrible RNG? Should I complain about cancelling my sub to not really do it and just throw it around as an empty threat because I actually love the game? :P

Not to rub it in, but I was in a dungeon last night and got 5 heartwood from a heavy sack; not to rub it in though.

They have been told by many and many times of the abysmal housing mat drop rate. They had more than enough time to adjust it so, How can we conclude otherwise than the drive to monetize housing.

Any chance we'll have a comment from @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

Yep, its obvious. Like a lot of the other ways they design this game... to ruin in game play to make more money.

People seem quite adamant it's ZoS trying to shank our wallets. Damn, that's a strange feeling of disappointment right now. Either way, I guess it could be an attempt to correct the ingame guild store economy? Perhaps make recipes and mats worth a lot until they reach general abundance?

It was silly to think ANYTHING that could be obtained in the crown store would drop in a reasonable rng.

You could alternatively stop getting your collective knickers in a twist and wait until the Jesters festival. While I don't know about quests, I do know that it drops containers from writs which provide random loot (from crafting materials to motif pages and others) including the new crafting materials. On PTS had about 30 regulus from 12 writs along with nice quantities of other furniture crafting materials, if it drops with all rewards e.g. quests or dailies then no-one will have a shortage of material afterwards.

Also, there's 1200 or so items to learn to craft so not having stacks of materials after 2 days doesn't mean you're going to be struggling to find stuff to craft with if you only know 10 items. Time and patience are your friends and a good thing to learn when playing games or in any other facet of life.

I think it would be ok with the current node drop rates if furniture mats were also given in hireling mails, writ rewards, and refining.

I do generally agree that it feels a bit too much of a grind to furnish even a small room right now - maybe that will even out a bit over the next few months, but I don't think anyone really likes getting a house and not being able to put much in it - that disillusions and frustrates people.

I am ok with a grind for the best stuff, luxury stuff, but right now it's a grind to make a simple bed or chair, and that is off-putting for many.

Seriously? Well strike up the band!
ok anyone care to enlighten our friendly ZOS "trustee" on:
    1. How many pieces of furniture can be made with 30 regulus?
    2. How many hundred normal crafting mats one could expect from completing 12 writs?

Housing mats are treated wholly differently than any other crafting Mat. For example, I can go questing, grinding mobs, run dungeons, camping dolmens, or any other fun activity all the while collecting gear that I can decon into usable crafting mats. Not so with housing! The only way to obtain these materials is to endlessly grind farming! The game is no fun! Do you get it now?

    This thread 100%

The drop chance for the new material is simply far too low, especially when we compare it to how much we actually need in order to craft the furniture that we need and/or desire.

Seeing an increase in drop chance for the newly added Homestead materials would be a very nice needed change.

I hate to say it, but it looks like ZOS is pushing people to spend money in the crown store. Sure you can make all the furniture in game, but with the amount of mats one needs and their low drop rate, it'll take 6 months to a year to furnish a large home. Or one could drop $100 in the crown store and do it in a day or two. Everyone see what it looks like ZOS has done here? >:)

Hirelings and writ surveys really should be giving these new materials too. That would help.

With the number of players saying they have no interest in housing, I hope we'll be seeing more mats for sale by this weekend.

It feels a lot low, I think each node should drop one new mat. You are still going to be doing a serious mat grind but this is ridiculous.

Recipes and the wax only seem to come in backpacks and furniture containers (dressers, desks, etc).

I've spent the past couple of days farming, both in upper Crag and in Crimson cove. Probably about 4 hrs each day

    I got a fair few recipes/blueprints

    101 Alchemical Resin
    45 Bast
9 Clean pelt (wasn't farming animals)
    34 Decorative Wax
    61 Mundane Rune
    66 Regulus
    29 Heartwood

I also got 4 Fortified and 2 Potent Nirns and 5 Kuta

I don't know whether that's good or bad as I haven't started looking at crafting furniture yet.

Heartwood is definitely about twice as scarce as the rest, but to me, my farming expeditions don't seem that bad, they don't seem much different than for example when I used to play Lotro, there I would spend a few days farming mats every couple of weeks or so, then again I don't know how many mats are required yet to make stuff.

whats next crowns for your resins and tempers because of the grind

xp,cp, ap and your worried about a grind in the game?

its amazing how many guilds are releasing their stash of 1000's of the like to the market now. they drove up the prices for everything in the first place with their buying out and you can bet they are doing it with these mats too.

Last I saw, in the top trading guild in EU PC the MM prices of regulus was around 500g per item. I suspect that others are around similar figures of 300-1000g. That will drop substantially within a month as the market is flooded with people farming and selling what they get. I'd estimate prices to drop to around 50-100g per item by Easter, spurred on with the release of materials with the Jester's festival which would make things affordable to practically anyone looking to craft items from the blueprints they find.

Similar prices on NA, the prices will drop if they just give them to everyone. i don't think the markets really the issue though, its that everyone whats their shizz pimped like right now, that will drive people to crown store, lack of patience not the mat prices or availability as such.

Clearly meant to push any sane person to just fork out real cash.

Yeah, we are pretty much hip deep in the era of the game where they introduce insane grinds for the crazy people, and cash store options for the more reasonable and open minded.

Since housing has no value to me, gold or Crowns, I figure that by the time they actually make it worth my time I will have boatloads of the stuff I need. I mean, that should be at least 2 years from now, right?
