I personally think furniture should go into the crafting bag, if you don't have a banker in your house you have to teleport outside just to get some stuff or even relog if you have it on a different char.
There is no reason to exclude furniture from being stored in the crafting bag, it would make ESO plus more attractive after all and I guess thats great :P

    Yep, furniture takes up space.

One tip is to designate a "warehouse" property to dump off your spare furniture. The free inn rooms have terrible item capacity, so spring for an apartment or, if you can afford it, a small house. Once you place an item in a house, it's no longer in your inventory, so that helps alleviate the problem of furniture taking up unwanted space.

Note that once you place furniture, you can't sell it. So if your intention is to sell the furniture you don't want, you're better off moving it to a mule.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

If they allowed furniture in the crafting bag, it would be a slippy slope. Why not glyphs? Potions and poisons? Crafted gear?
At that point the sub may as well be mandatory just to admit that inventory management without the sub sucks.

furniture has no function but cosmetic. potions glyphs, poisons etc DO have non-cosmetic functions.

The reason the crafting bag works so well is because at the tech end it is a list of each crafting item and a number, from 0 to maxnum. It takes the same disk space for an empty bag as for a full bag.

Adding the furniture to the crafting bag would take the existing disk space dedicated to the crafting bag and multiply it by 10.

If it took 40 disks for the crafting bag now, then adding furniture would bump that to 400, because each individual bag would have entries for the thousands of decor items added to them - even though the quantity of each item would be zero.

It's magical fairy dust thinking that believes that things can just be added to the craft bag.

Agreed. On the recent ESO Live they explained the difference it makes for coding between a crafting bag containing a hundred items in stacks of thousands, and a furnishing bag containing thousands of items in stacks of one. They didn't rule it out, just said it wasn't something that could be done right now.

How about approaching the problem from the other side: Why are you collecting so much furniture that having it in your inventory is a problem?

If it's stuff you want for your house and you don't have the house yet you can dump it into the free inn rooms. Without ESO Plus each room holds 15 items, so that's 45 between them, with ESO plus it's 90.

If you're planning to sell it my advice would be to sell it right away, because the prices are only going to go down over time as the hype wears off as stuff becomes more common.

So in essence no one ever had a crafting bag.....

It's only a crafting material bag which excludes crafted items so let's call it a material bag for clarity @ZOS_GinaBruno

Just for my almost 300 books, I'm using 3 apartments. Thy really should have added a reasonably large "stored capacity" to each house which would also allow decorators the ability to take out and put away items (which by the way is necessary to move items between inside and outside).

If you are having an inventory issue, then ensure that you have your bank maxed out and also have the inventory space maxed out on your character before you complain about these things not going into the crafting bag.

Also, stop hoarding things. Make only what you need every day to do small upgrades and as other said, you can store some of it in the tiny free room that you get.

I don't have ESO+ right now, and while my bank is maxed, my characters inventories are not maxed out and I'm not having any issues with inventory space.

I haven't played since finishing the quest for the Glenumbra free room, but are people just picking up furniture when looting? If so, they need disassembling into components.

ESO's whole inventory system is a real mess. Crafting bags certainly helped but now it seems right back where it was. Storage w/ ESO+ would be a good idea as well as in house storage for furniture only.

    Typical thing as MMORPGs progress

Lot more junk that will fill up your bags and inventory space.

In 10 years, 1 mob in ESO will always drop like 5 or more loot... aka junk.

You can sometimes find furniture when stealing, but it seems to be pretty rare. I've been stealing a lot of stuff each day to make gold and I just got my first furnishing today: a letter which is now sitting on my free inn room table.

But I think they can come from other places too, there's some stuff which is specifically in treasure chests (although I've heard that's bugged) and possible some things which are dropped by enemies.

Most of it though you have to either buy from NPCs or craft. Which is part of why it seems odd to me that the OP would end up with loads of useless furniture. If you don't need it right now you can just hold off on making or buying it until you do.

hoarding? i run multiple characters with multiple sets as well as a crap ton of potions, foods etc, shared bank really ramps up the numbers. and yes i have maxed out bags, banks, horses etc.
