Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)
We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

Is 24 hour cooldown on character delete really necessary.

Nerd rage is strong, 24 hour minimum. If Im totally honest it should be 3 days. 3 days aint that much if you've played a few week straight and the nerd rage hits.

If you need more than 3 tries to make your char look good, you can always go to pts, start creating a char there, take a sceenshot of all the sliders and then, if you like the char, just create one on live with the same settings.

You don't even need to do that now, without the hassle of installing the game again you can just go on the other live server, i.e. EU or NA depending on which you're on in the first place.

The cooldown on deleting character has been very effective in deterring gold sellers etc. and should be retained.

The delete thing has certainly been a contentious area for me the last few times that I played. However, I understand their reasoning behind it.

My main problems are two things:

    1) Give us better lighting, or multiple lighting options. I made a perfectly good Khajiit in a dark gray color, got into the game and she was suddenly pitch black and you couldn't see any of her features. It was awful. The creation screen is just very dark. It would be nice if like in BDO, there were multiple lighting sources.

    2) The ability to save a characters look without screenshots of sliders. I, like the OP, reroll until I find a character that I'm really happy with. I rerolled my current Nord twice. Rerolled my Khajiit twice. I love the way both look now, but it'd certainly be nice to save their appearance, because personally, I'm rerolling when the Expac drops, for Warden as a Nord and I'd love to keep my same look.

Just my two bits relating to the issue of the Character Creation.

I do think that it would be wonderful if they could bring it down from 24 hours to 12. I think that's a reasonable amount of time. 24 hours is very long to only earn ONE delete back.

Same. I rerolled my temp 5 times because some small mistakes that onl showed up after I left coldharbour before giving up and deciding not to level one. All because of that stupid char delete limit, they should at least allow us to delete characters below level 4 or 5 without it counting.

That's completely the wrong way round and totally misses the purpose of the restrictions. Gold sellers have characters below level 4 or 5, the restrictions are to prevent them from rolling, spamming, deleting, and rolling etc.. Now, if someone suggested no limit on deleting and re-rolling level 50 characters I doubt anyone could object!

There are already 3 servers you can create characters on, (2 if you're only on console). That, together with the option to buy extra character slots, should give you all the opportunity you need to get the character you want.

It's easier than that. As I recall, the fastest gold farm in the game was the meet and greet in Cold Harbour. Back at launch there were constant trains running that quest until ZOS nerfed the meet and greet payouts severely.

At least on PC, there would be an even better solution. You can buy an (effectively) unlimited number of cosmetic tokens on the PTS. So you can bounce in and out of the character editor, tinkering until you get it just right. What you can't do is export that data in anyway (other than simply taking screenshots and copious notes. In theory, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to use some kind of simple text format to export and import appearance settings to the character editor, allowing players who have a legitimately difficult time designing characters they like more options to get the desired results.

Yeah, that was way back at launch. The gold farmers went to town on that exploit.

Seriously, if you know you can't change your character's appearance later on, then you take enough time to customize your character right at the first try?

It's not a matter of taking time. It's the character looking different in-game than it does in character creation. It's not being able to choose crown-store hairstyles as part of character creation and finding out after the fact that the proportions of your character's face don't suit the style you wanted to use. It's being unable to discern from the tiny voice snippets just how annoying a character's grunts will turn out to be.

And, yes, sometimes you can take forever on a character's appearance only to discover that you failed to notice that your Redguard is in EP.

I think the above suggestions, and the possibility of saving a template would be better solutions to the actual problem than reducing the cooldown.

Ever since they implemented it, I haven't seen a bot or gold seller again. Sure, it could be down to decent moderation too... but man, let me tell you now, you never want to go back to the days before the 'delete limits' were implemented.

Yes, actually. I will make a character and realize that I forgot to change the angle of his ears. Then I'll remake it and reallze that I don't like the voice. Then I'll make it and decide I should have added an adornment. Then I'll realize I forgot the voice again.

It isn't that simple. If I don't make sure my character is perfect, I will regret it when I get a few levels in, and as it costs so much to change your appearance, I have to make sure the character is flawless. There are so many small tweaks to make that it is hard to do them all on the first creation, especially if trying a different race.

The limit on deleting characters is to prevent a player from losing everything in the event their account is hacked.

So yes, it's a good idea.

I cannot emphasize how much time and effort people spend spamming customer support, over and over and over, about the deletion limit. Some of these people are gold farmers and botters (and who occasionally include the botting software UI in their screenshots for their support tickets, I kid you not! complete with Chinese font labels on the menu bar), and then there are extremely mentally ill people who have deleted hundreds if not thousands of characters.

I've seen requests to restore "not CharacterNameX_11 from two days ago, but CharacaterNameX_11 three before that, the dunmer male one" or the like. Hundreds and hundreds. And they just keep opening tickets and asking over and over again. Back before the deletion limit I suspect a pretty big chunk of all asinine support requests were just from people with severe mental problems who thought their obsessions took precedence over any other conceivable issue. I am not exaggerating.

Course, you know that from reading these forums. Not specific to this issue.

Of course this does not work on Console, but I find that PTS is a great place to check out something before doing it on the Live server. There is no way I would buy a furnished house before checking it out on PTS. In detail. Never under estimate the power of using PTS to get a mulligan.
