I'm trying to get a feel on how well the ESO community has embraced the Homestead update. I will keep my opinions to myself, but I will say that I have only purchased one of the Medium sized homes with gold, but did buy the Target Skeleton using crowns.

On the poll below, the option for the crown purchase is for either decorated or undecorated.

I wanted to hold off for a bit on purchasing a home, outside of the freebie to test the furnishing controls, until I could build/farm the majority of the furniture for it. I figure recipe hunting will go hand in hand with making the gold to buy said home.

I was initially excited about hosing but currently I am holding off buying a house until ZOS starts listening to the PTS testers and all the issues we identified with housing nearly a month ago.

There are already people disappointed with housing due to issues that were easily correctable and communicated to ZOS via PTS with ample time to correct.

It's just not worth the headache at this point.

not only am I happy with it and having fun, I come from playing a lot of fallout 4 so a lot of tips and tricks carry over, its very close.

I have actually started paying more attention to various stalls and building layouts and designs within the world and making a conscious effort to understand how things are set up so it looks natural. I hate houses that look pre fab.

having a lot of fun, really enjoying it, nice to have a really cool place for my friends and I to hang out. we sat around the fire in game last night because we didn't feel like doing anything and just talked.

I'm not impressed with the current houses thats available right now. With each house that I've went to preview I feel as if I'm in the state penitentiary. There's depressing walls all over the premises.

The housing is also very expensive as it deals with real life money. For the price of a house I can go out and buy a whole new video game. For the big boy houses like the manors I could actually buy a whole new graphics card with the price that ZOS is asking for.

It is also a very hard to get gold as questing doesn't give you nearly as much as it should. You can also wand up losing gold as theirs some that requires you to pay over 600 gold to further advance a quest by giving that gold to an NPC.

If only I could sell "some" of my Dungeon drop gear I might be able to afford a better house. Instead I break it down for the paltry 1 single piece of CP160 craft resource. :(

Also where is the carrot that was the Island Paradise. That's the ONLY one I'd want.

Think community must gather some balls and boycott the homestead. The way I see this update:

    Negatives:
    • Nerfed my stamina NB.
    • Nerfed my templar healer.
    • Broke group searching tool. From a player who were making 20 runs a day I'm down to 1-3 runs.
    • New dungeons bugs, Spindleclutch II sudden death and several more
    • HUGE amount of new items with exactly same storage space.
    • Housing is totally useless especially if you don't even have merchant and banker.
    • Housing crafting is too complicated\time consuming.

    Positives:
    • Ice Staff tanking. Still can't comment on implementation though.
    • Some positive improvements to several skills of templar.

As you see if you summurise my opinion it will be between "Disaster update" to "total garbage".

I think community has to restrain from buying houses so the same developer who was commenting that there's no reason to increase storage space according to statistics, will look into statistic and see that housing is useless without storage.

Now I'm asking myself, will I preorder Morrowind? LOL no find some other beta testers. Not ready to pay 40$ for the privelege of becoming one.

Purchased a large to manor sized home with gold
I own five houses (if you count the three "cozy" inn rooms).

    1. Completed the quests to get the three rooms for free.

    2. Started saving gold when I first heard about housing. When it went live, I went shopping (refusing to spend crowns) and found I still couldn't afford a manor or even a large house. So I settled on Ravenhurst, in Rivenspire, for around 200k. I could afford it and it was in a cool zone. Also, it came with a small yard. Nice.

But when I was done, I couldn't even afford furniture. So I went to a guild trader and about fell over. Furniture was selling for obscene prices. Like 25k, for a bed or a desk.

So I did the furniture grind, first grinding for plans and blueprints, then grinding for materials. After a couple of hours of that, I made two beds and put them in my guild trader for 25k each. I wasn't even sure they would sell.

Went back to grinding. Both sold within the hour, netting me around 40k. Made another one and two chairs and listed them. By the time I was finished for the night, they had sold for around 30k total.

    3. Went to Malab Tor and bought the Cyrodiic house (it small but I really like it).

Five houses. When I get home, I'll check and see what I've sold while I was at work. If I'm in luck, I might buy one or two of the smaller apartments (like the Sisters of Sands Apartment). I buy what I want now and furnish them the prices drop.

Edit: Actually, I realized I picked the wrong choice. Ravenhurst is not a large home; I thought it was.

I will probably buy one sooner or later. But I worry it is something I will enjoy for a week and then stop visiting. So I am hesitant to jump right in while it is new and exciting for fear of it having no staying power. I would have preferred guild housing. The current housing design is very introverted. Unless you are a hardcore RPer, there is little reason for other players to hang around in same house and lots of limitations on "sharing" housing that could have allowed for quasi-guild housing.

I don't RP. But with my house I have a private place no one but select friends can access. I have a place to deconstruct gear, my banker, and dps testing. It's cool to find new blue prints or a nice painting and be able to toss it on the wall when you get home and housing has made me run vet dungeons again to get the busts. You'd be surprised how much fun you can have messing around with a few friends. When new people come visit I generally pull out the large cage and place it over them while they are typing lol. Housing has been much more fun than I initially expected and this is just a base foundation they can expand upon in future updates.

I bought Daggerfall Manor right away. Even unfurnished I love it - the outdoor space is beautiful. I tossed a couple of rough stone slabs out to make steps to the overlook wall for a fine view, but aside from that nothing is really available for gold so it is empty. But it's peaceful and a nice place to log in.

I also bought Captain Margaux's place in Daggerfall because of its proximity to writ boards, crafting stations, bank and merchants. Free teleport to things I often need in a fairly quiet city, for a reasonable price.

And of course I got the three apartments because I have characters in each alliance so they were free.

I have not purchased a house. I have purchased five. :D

Ah, the cost of being a roleplayer with altitis.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."

Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Been playing more IC lately, thought the increased AP gained from capturing flags will bring more people there and i was right. You can enjoy a couple of fights there so i have been distracted from most of the housing information. I am thinking about buying the Forsaken Stronghold, from all the houses i have seen, that is the most appealing to me. Still i want to wait for a while, since i think we deserve more utility from the houses, such as being able to store our Legendary Equipment in there. For 1,285,000 gold it better have some utility attached to it.
