I have no idea what the video was about because I am hard of hearing (thanks for providing a brief text summary of the issue - not!)
But if this is a gripe about how it is going to take a hundred million years to get all the achievements, let me assure you that 100%ing the achievements in a game is NOT necessary in order to enjoy it. I've been gaming for long before achievements even existed, I enjoyed games without them, and I although I quite like them now they are here, I can live without 100%ing a game and still enjoy it. It's as though everyone wants some sort of award these days.
I had to put on my head set to hear the vid. As for your complaint, achievement hunting is about working hard to get it. There is nothing stopping you other then your own laziness. And if you quit due to this then you are playing the game for the wrong reason. You are not a true achievement hunter.

You obviously didn't watch as that is mentioned in the video.. Not everyone plays for the same reason. Its not hard to understand that people play for different reasons... pvp, pve, leader boards, achievements, social etc. So why think why YOU play is the ONLY reason people play...

Do you not understand the words "hard of hearing"? Perhaps I should spell it out for you, I am mostly DEAF and CANNOT HEAR the audio on that - please post some brief summary of what it is about.
You are not worthy calling yourself a completionist if you give up that fast.

I see this type of issue come up all the time in other MMOs. Same stuff, different channel.
It is what it is.

Although I still don't know what the complaint is about, I tend to agree - I have been playing since beta, and with one of my current characters since early access, I just got Master Angler title last week - I couldn't be happier! If I got any achievement easily, it wouldn't be an achievement, it would just be something that everyone had, and therefore worthless.

My guess is OP is hard of seeing.
As for the video, can't watch with sound from where I am (will when I get home), but most achievements can be earned with fellow hunters by working together for much faster returns. If this comment is not on key with the videos issue will address later when I have watched.

thank GAWD I'm not a hardcore completionist.
You are not worthy calling yourself a completionist if you give up that fast.

If I got any achievement easily, it wouldn't be an achievement, it would just be something that everyone had, and therefore worthless.
When you played the game with enthusiasm and enjoyment, it was on the basis that you were looking to complete all the achievements covering your field of play. You were happy to exclude the PvP achievements as you don't commit fully to PvP.
So why not now adopt the same approach to the housing achievements? If you're either not interested or else not able within reasonable use of time and resources to complete those achievements then why can you not apply the same criteria to housing as you do to PvP? Housing isn't PvE content, it is neither PvE nor PvP but purely cosmetic content. Can you not still complete the PvE achievements only as that was always your aim and your chosen measure of success as a completionist?
I fully support the completionist approach and have enormous respect, for example, for the guy who is a Master Angler on all 12 of his characters. I can well understand why he wouldn't want to stop at 11 of them, but in your case you've already decided to aim only for the completion of the PvE achievements and the housing achievements are not relevant to that aim.
Meanwhile, I can also well understand why ZOS would want to give an achievement to those few who do complete everything in the housing field, just as I'd personally understand it if they introduced an achievement for getting Master Angler on all 12 characters - incidentally, I bet the guy let out a massive sigh when he saw that they're adding another couple of slots in June!
I don't think it's unreasonable for developers to offer achievements for everything that can be done in the game, but I also don't think it's unreasonable for completionists to stick to the targets they've set themselves and in your case complete all the PvE achievements - which you can still do exactly as before without regard to the housing achievements as they don't relate strictly to PvE.
That's how I'd interpret it anyway, if I were in your shoes. It would enable me to still enjoy playing the game without feeling that I was letting myself down by not completing something that was never in the game when I set the parameters for judging my success in it.

@Epona222 To sum up the video:
-OP strives for 100% completion of all PVE achievements in the game
-Housing introduced achievements that would completely wreck his in-game bank account, costing some 13 million gold to buy all the housing required for all the related achieves
-OP states that this is not reasonable and it kills any reason for him to continue pushing for 100% completion of PVE achieves
-OP reiterates that his fun in game is derived from achievement hunting, and to understand fully one must realize that this is his main source of fun for the game, like someone else may find their fun in PVE leaderboards, or PVP content, etc.

Was unaware of the sound issue as its playing fine for me. I am not blind but I put up a thread with VIDEO in the title and someone wants a text file of what I am talking about. I dont need to do anything for him.
You really are a complete moron, aren't you? Yes I watched the video, but I AM DEAF AND CANNOT HEAR ANY VOICEOVER - all I see is a character standing on a wall flicking through the achievement UI.
Posting a video up and not actually posting in writing any of your own opinions on it is super lazy.
Title says video. Sorry to hear you cant hear. I cant see color however I dont be a prick to anyone who posts things saying "look where the red is on the ground" and I cant see it...
Couldn't you just not stand in the circle that's there?

And yet I play with people who are colour-blind and make the effort to let them know when they are in the red. You cannot extend a similar courtesy to me and give me a brief rundown of what was said in the video?
I'll just cheat and buy all 3 manors for crowns. Maybe. In 2 next years.
But I agree with you completely.
I like your videos generally (I subscribe on youtube), and I like this video, but I feel like there are some misses.
You are right to argue that we all play for our own reasons, so perhaps you shouldn't try to speak on behalf of all completionists, because what is "reasonable" is very personal.
And you kind of undermine your own argument by saying that you CAN currently afford to get all the achievements that you are argueing are not reasonably obtainable. Obviously they are obtainable and for you it would be very easy to do, but you don't want too because of the value you personally place on in-game gold.
I agree with your analysis, this grindfest is intended to drive a profit for ZOS, and many players (for many reasons) have been turned off the game by the homestead patch. I hope this video gets watched by the Developers 'cos they have not done a good enough job with this patch. I hope you stay with the game till morrowind because I like your videos.
DeadlyRecluse wrote: »Watched the video (audio is fine for me), I get what you are saying: two thoughts.
1. Even if they reduced the housing achievement to 1 of each "tier" of house, I would assume they would want each manor to be it's own achievement (and that seems fair, since they are huge, come with a title, etc.) That still ends up being like 11 million plus, so I don't see the gold cost for "completing" the housing achievement come down.
2. This game seems (and has since beta) very unfriendly to completionists--I know that's not news to you, but I think most of what you are saying will fall on deaf ears, as neither the devs nor the playerbase seem to care at all about acheivement points/progress.
Either way, good luck.
Also, the first minute of this video should be required viewing prior to forum posting, but I think most of your replies haven't actually seen it.
The autogenerated subtitles are pretty good, too, for people with difficulty hearing him
I'm very surprised that autogenerated subtitles are good for anything, because usually they completely mangle stuff to a completely hilarious level, but I will try again with that (it had better be worth me spending more time on, I already spent a while staring at a video of someone standing on a wall for ages)

Do the new master writs X number times to get achievement (buy and sell items from the tokens).
Farming nodes to get new achievements (refine and sell gold tempers for gold).
Hunting monster collectables (sell rare drops for gold)
If you're doing enough PvE to get all the achievements and wise about selling your loot, you can make 13 million gold.

Hi thank you for your response. However the community believes this is PVE. As pve and pvp are literally just pvp being Alliance and the rest PVE. Thank you for your comment.
