ZOS send the updates out at the same time but XBOX and PS4 need to verify the content and that usually takes about 2 weeks. That is why we have a delay to see what PC already has. It is not ZOS, but Sony and Microsoft that cause the delay

    Beat me to it... :D

As Durzo said; MS and Sony have a verification process for any updates/content that a developer wants to put on their services. In order to make sure that that new update/content wont break LIVE/PSN or contain damaging content to the games, they take two weeks to crawl over and verify that the new stuff won't do anything bad.

So, Consoles get a two week wait before content becomes available.

Because Xbox and PS need MS and Sony approval.

The truth? Because that's the order they decided to do it in from the beginning. Just like your teachers would line you up by your last name. Anderson went first and Wyatt went last. PC first because that's where Elderscrolls started and consoles next. I dont see how it's been such a mystery.

    U mean like DLC stuff.....

Cause ZOS chooses to do it this way and they seem to have decided to use PC PTS and PC live as quality testing. It's actually not due to certification because you could develop and submit for a unified launch IF they wanted to. Some say that holds PC back but no they could release pc Monday, Xbox or PS Tuesday and the other Wednesday as well and push pc patches as needed while console updates would only hit after certification.

It's just a decision and strategy of comfort or habit is all

They could release it at the same time because Morrowind is hitting that way it seems but I'd be careful what's cause the forums alone and live pc chat suggest 95% of updates should've have been released as is on PC

It generally applies to all updates, but there are exceptions. If there's an update that somehow gets through, but absolutely breaks the game; then the following "hot fixes" get queued for an expedited verification process, so that the hot fix can be applied faster to fix what broke the game.

But for updates like Homestead and Morrowind; or game adjustment updates like the (fairly) regular balance updates and tweaks, then those still go through the whole verification process.

A dev spoke up about this around the time No Man's Sky was released and it has nothing to do with whether or not the patch breaks the game. Hell, we've seen some poor initial released content from Bethesda themselves to know this is correct. The Pitt on the 360 was a shambles. The other stand out one was the return to Ostegar (sp) we got on the 360 for Dragon Age.

this! I have only seen a couple "Hotfixes" that were applied to everyone at the same time, and these were pretty major fixes to issues that were being exploited or abused. Mostly we console peasants have to wait to see most updates and fixes, but there are exceptions to every rule

Exactly, there are other Deb's who've commented on it as well, it literally comes down to each developers production schedules and staff as well as capabilities.

ZOS decided to do it this way so that's how it happens.
Heck they could also release consoles first cause they know they can patch PC whenever but it's their decision

IF you wanna go thru a LOT of hassle, you go thru console first get approvals, sit on Sony's and MS's .... lap... But if you do PC first, then they're running to you *ME NEXT ME NEXT!!!* It's the corporate BS that you dont have to deal with when you do PC. Im surprised they even bother with console since Sony and MS are such *** about procedures and specific coding.

If I were Bethesda I'd tell the console companies ... well... I cant say that in the forum.

FYI- I have every NES and PS console there is. Im not a console hater. I'm a *Do it our way* hater. Sony and MS can bite me.

Because console players typically tend to be younger and poorer and therefore more likely to collect benefits and other handouts at the beginning of the week so ZOS are helping motivate them by forcing them offline later in the week. In contrast, PC players tend to be older and in a better financial situation so a Monday patch during working hours affects them less than it would towards the end of the week where they'd tend to take their flexible working from home days.

    @Junipus
This makes no sense at all

If we accept your comments as is, wouldn't the younger market be more appropriate to market to as they all have guardians who are how you mention those on PC as being. PCs cost more so all things being reasonable, those on consoles have more money left to spend

If you read my later post, I address this as well. But regardless of what that Dev says, MIcrosoft and Sony have said that it's pretty much exactly as I described it.

But for your searching ease, here's my later post:

    I missed that.

It's just a myth that he verification process is to check for game breakers and LIVE/PSN threats. It's is all about the documentation provided alongside the dlc/game and nothing really to do with what's contained within the digital content itself. Not aimed at you, but do people seriously think both Sony and MS have a lot of people who sit there and sift through every piece of dlc and game? That would take some man power.

They are suggesting that the console verification process DOES NOT check for game breaks. On console the game has been broken a few times. Broken in terms of being literally unplayable in part or in full

    I stand corrected.

Aye, there's been a few broken games in my time. Barring dlc, Alpha Protocol is the game that jumps out. One of only 3 games I've literally never been able to complete due to game breakers. The other 2 were PC games. Daggerfall and one of the STALKER games (Clear Skies I think). All the other shockers I've managed to find my way to the end if I wanted to persevere.
