Simple - don't buy them. Prices will drop once the shine of newness has worn off and more people have their own 'recipes'.

One thing I've noticed is that only 4-5 different paintings are being traded. Do the other paintings have lower drop rates or are they crown store exclusive maybe?

Some come from treasure map chests which are currently bugged and don't drop paintings.

Not sure on other sources though.

I got 2 paintings from the first two chests (intermediate and master) that I ran into when I logged in today. I didn't even intend to go in the delve but I noticed my 11th toon didn't have the skyshard from in there. I will now sell these paintings as they don't fit on the crooked argonian walls of my cheap house.

So people who randomly run into chests get paintings, while those explicitly looking for them only get emoty soul gems. I wonder how ZOS managed to programm such a feature. 1.0

But seriously, i spent a few hours yesterday looking for paintings and needed about 8 master chests and obviously way more of the other types to come out with 1 painting.

In this setting its either idiot buyers or idiotic greedy sellers.
All know prices on the easier crafted items will come down.

Exception: Stuff who used purple tempers will be expensive and items using gold will be idiotic expensive as you could use it on gear instead so selling the gold tempers loose will be safer.

That's exactly how it works, but people with millions of gold won't care and will want to furnish their houses first.

There are people paying crazy amounts for anything when they first come out, it's the same in every game.

These with probably come down a little bit in the next few weeks or so. Although as long as crown prices remain in the greedy cash-grabbing range, I suspect crafted items will remain relatively high too.

My golden rule of art appreciation: if someone has to describe to me what the piece of art means or represents then a) that artist failed, and b) because of that it isn't art.

If greed were purely opinion, then price fixing and other anti-competitive pricing practices would not be actively legislated against. The "free market" defence is often misused, and it's as tired as it is transparent.

because the drop rate of the blueprints is so low and because the launch was just two days ago, it will drop in few weeks/months, believe me
