What did you do with the graphics in 2.7.5?

It seems to me the graphics quality is higher than my settings before allowed for, and others have agreed, "yeah the graphics got a huge boost." The problem for me is that my computer can't run it. I don't have a great computer for gaming, but I've been able to get by pretty well using high texture quality, and everything else at minimum or off except for view distance of 50 and bloom and grass on. Subsampling quality at low makes my game run quite smooth, medium subsampling is just usable, high is very jittery. Looking at old screenshots I find varied FPS up to 23 while in dungeons.

But after the patch I'm only at 9 FPS in most places, up to 15 FPS in unpopulated areas like my apartment. Worse yet all the graphics take several seconds to load, so moving fast means playing on unloaded terrain and fighting invisible monsters (and cities are even worse, taking minutes to fully load buildings and people). Setting my visuals to complete minimum gets me between 11 and 15 FPS, and smooth enough to play except with the ugly texture quality I still have problems with enemies not displaying and surrounding areas not loading fully, sometimes even after half a minute of fighting.

I don't see anything in the latest patch notes about graphics updates and I haven't read anything about new requirements, so what's going on?

    Hi Pareidolon my friend.

The "subsampling" setting seems to be stuck and doesn't change, regardless of what you set it at.

I got this as well, and am in the same boat with a low-end pc. I don't think the graphics got boosted, it's just our user settings that were thrown out of whack and somehow locked. Attempting to decrease the graphics in-game is broken for me, does nothing, and I had to edit the usersettings.ini file today to turn the graphics down to how they were before, and it is now much more playable. Check out this guide on how to do it:

Pay particular attention to the line SET MIP_LOAD_SKIP_LEVELS which determines the global texture quality, which was locked into high for me after the patch. Setting the value here to "2" corresponds with "low" texture qualities, which is what I imagine you are after.

Yes, the problem of the in-game settings menu not allowing downgrading of graphics needs to be resolved ASAP, but hopefully some of the tricks in there will get your fps back up to playable levels in the mean time!

More specifically it will be fixed at some point:
    Hi folks,

Sorry for the delay on responding to this. We've been chasing it since we saw it surface yesterday. We're digging into some additional info and hope to have more details for you soon.

Odd they just discovered it yesterday, I guess they really dont read the threads in the Pts...

Oh well im sure they meant they thought they fixed it and it just came back. Yeah im sure they didnt just ignore it the whole time on the pts, and the threads about it, and just now start pretending like it is new.

Thanks, I think that is the problem. I actually want high texture quality (which I was able to change in game) and low sub-sampling (which is locked), that seems to give the best image/performance balance. I went to change the settings, but rather than a UserSettings.ini, I found UserSettings.txt, and when I changed that the game just ignored it and changed it back on exiting. In any case it's good to know what the problem is and that it will be fixed in time.

Does changing the UserSettings back to .ini resolve the problem with the game not respecting the settings you set manually?

EDIT: Nope, it just recreates the .txt
