What has ZOS said about the DLC being called an Expansion to charge players?

The Win10 free upgrade was time limited. I know, I ended up paying for Win10 when I unexpectedly had to rebuild a PC for a family member after the MoBo fried.

You're REALLY not understanding the prominent point being made, are you?

Could be that the prominent point is bullocks

Or you really cannot understand the fact that ZOS PURPOSELY changes the way the use "DLC" to "Expansion" just so it gives them more money by *** over ESO+ subscribers. That has left people upset, because it's a money *** move by ZoS, imo.

Point proven further. They changed nothing. They added a new tier of content and people are crying about it because 'omg u like said I would get all dlc but now I dont get this new thing even tho I call it dlc and u dont'

DLC and Expansion are basically the same thing. You download the expansion, therefore, it's downloadable content.

DLC, is an Expansion. It expands the map, adds items etc.. oh yes that's right and it's downloaded.... thus why it's called DLC.

    DLC - Download extra content

    Expansion - Download extra content

What's the difference? Oh yes that's right... the name they give it.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

Don't worry guys, for honor will be out soon. Make sure to try the open Beta 9th of februari.

    Gets repetitive quite fast.
I'll consider ME Andromeda though. Well, after they release gameplay videos that aren't 1 minute long.

Though the closed beta was good fun when playing it with friends, it seems to be quite competitive as well. ME Andromeda will release 3 days after my bday so I'm definitely getting that one for myself as well!

I guess this is your first mmo. Those terms have never been used interchangeably in any game. But just to point out one, Morrowind has a physical copy. No dlc has a physical copy. Im sorry you aren't smart enough to understand simple things

The whiny children need to put their money (or not put it as it were) where their mouth is. Unsub, right now. If not you're just running your mouth with no intention of actually doing anything and if that's the case just shut up, because you're going to buy it anyway.

If you fanboys think you are supporting zos then I will send you my steam ID and you can gift me one expansion. you will support them and I will get my expansion, win-win.

I guess most of you are not aware you are being fooled by the company, changing the name of a DLC to expansion. They introduce fixes by crown store and doesn't care about other players. Bank space is same as the launch but there are more and more items and sets..

They add more crown store exclusive items and you guys still don't see the threat... When the game starts to have p2w elements don't cry.

I'm genuinely curious what @ZOS_RichLambert or @ZOS_GinaBruno have to say about this. I'm seeing a lot of angry discussions about the DLC being called an Expansion, and thus they aren't obligated to share it with subscribers, instead everyone has to buy it.

So people are angry about subscribing for years under the impression they will have access to content released in the future and then this expansion is an exception. Why should I continue subbing and supporting Zos if this is the case? What was your thinking behind making this decision? I'm want to know before I jump on the #hatetrain and uninstall.

PS: Yes I will send you guys my stuff if I uninstall.
I guess just don't understand why people's butt-holes are puckered over this.

I sub (so does my wife), we use the Crowns to still buy the DLC (just in case we have to un-sub), and we see no issue with having to pay for an Expansion vs. getting the (much) smaller DLC for free. In fact, we've already pre-ordered our copies on Xbox LIVE. My wife is getting the super-ultimate-swag-a-thon version for $80 USD, and I'm getting the slightly-less-uber-swag-a-thon version for $60 USD.

And you know what? We see this as being very well worth that expenditure. If even half of what Firor and Hines claim is in this Expansion turns out to be true, it will still be double/triple the size of a normal DLC. That's well worth the cost to us.

And frankly; getting small DLC/Updates for free due to a monthly/yearly subscription, but still having to pay for much larger Expansions, that's pretty standard for... most every MMORPG on the planet. Why people are trying to make it sound like this is designed specifically as a brand new way to do nothing but screw over the consumer, I have no idea.

This is what the entire industry does with DLC vs. Expansions, and nothing seems out of the ordinary to me or my wife (and we've got decades of MMO experience to fall back on with this viewpoint).

I think people need to take a step back, chill out for a minute, and look at this as objectively as possible. This is not a slight against you personally, nor is it a sign that ZOS hates their players.

This is simply ZOS offering an Expansion, and each individual consumer making the decision on whether the content is worth the value. It's a purchasing decision, nothing more.

No. If you have Eso+ you shouldn't be buying a thing that's related to content.

Why? If you Sub in WoW you have to pay for every expansion. Same with Rift, same with SWTOR, and EQ2 etc..it's how this thing works.

You pretend it will have p2w elements for some stupid reason. It wont, and that have been incredibly clear. "Guys, they are adding exclusive vanity items. PAY 2 WIN CONFIRMED"

We want to support the company buy purchasing content we want to play, not by buying thinks for crybaby entitled children.

Some of us have played MMOs for 15+ years, this is nothing new for companies. In fact, I would argue paid expansions are necessary to keep games alive and generate more return players. Most players have a healthy understanding of the difference expansions and patches make. Look at the current king, WoW expansions generate far more new/returning players than raid patches.

    Wrong....

SWTOR you get ALL content as part of your sub.. same with DCUO..

Was the same with ESO and when they first advertised ESO plus it stats all future downloadable content and expansions. They also stated that with ESO plus we would be better DLC content every 12 weeks. Its been over 6 months. When we do get more DLC content.. they relabel it calling it a "chapter" and change there advertisement for ESO plus. That is the definition of bait and switch and why people are upset who have been spending up to $180 a year with the promise that all future DLC would be covered for there support of the game.

I stopped playing pre-Shadows of Revan... but this is a lie as far as I recall. SWTOR sold expansions that you had to buy to play endgame content

They never said that. They said "all future downloadable content". There was no mention of "expansions" with relation to ESO Plus. The only time "expansions" were mentioned at all in the past was a very long time ago when they said (paraphrased) "we don't want to do expansions, we want to do large content updates regularly".

Calling me names and assuming I have played less mmo than you makes your argument much less credible. I like eso and I won't leave it for some time.

If you have a top level crafter without crown exclusive motifs you will understand why crafting is already p2w. Yes motifs are vanity but people prefer to buy good looking and top level gears. You will lose revenue if you don't have these exclusive motifs...

If you can't understand this then there is no point of arguing anymore.

I just don't understand why anyone is pissed about this. HOLY CRAP IT'S A FRIGGIN EXPANSION YO!!

Like be happy who cares if you gotta pay for it. You spend more money on subs in 3 months than you would buying this Xpack.

@BlazingDynamo - Calling it expansion doesn't make wrong into right. Can you tell the difference between DLC and expansion? How do we determine the difference between 2? and if that was the case, why ZOS was not specific about this before?

    Facts-
    1. as a ESO+ member you are supposed to get all future DLC content for free. Along with 4 DLC every year.
    2. T-1 Was not DLC but a update. SoTH- Only 2 Dungeons.
    3. Till date only Sizable DLC came out was Orsinium with 20Hrs of game play and now Morrowind has 30 Hrs, so that makes it expansion?
    4. Housing is not DLC, it's a another ingame feature update.

So maybe, people should stop calling it right because ZOS just changed the term of how they will cal their content. It does not make it right.

I don't remeber them saying 4 dlc per year. I remeber the term expect quarterly updates. I'm not going to fan boy ZOS, but the sense of entitlement in here is disturbing.

Did we get quarterly updates? Did we get content mixed in? Did you get your money's worth? And as of yet we don't have enough info to say if the xpac will be worth it or not. It's pretty simple really, either buy it or dont, keep subbing or unsub. If you feel cheated or they lied, hire a lawyer. Why would you continue a relationship that you no longer have trust in?

Point is we have already paid, we have subscribed or we have saved crowns. But now we have to pay again to get another DLC. I will buy the new expansion when it goes on sale nevertheless but still I am feeling fooled by ZOS. And I am sure anyone with half a decency will understand why this is bringing this much heat.

You as an ESO plus member got scammed and there's nothing you can do about it because you have no protection against the terminology they use to describe their content which has no true definition in the context.

Sounds like you need to look up the definition of what a "scam" is.

We got one DLC as big as Morrowind (Orsinium). The rest have been very small scale compared. Have you stopped to think perhaps content on that scale just wasn't possible to be given away for free to subs? Honestly I'd rather pay £40 for a chapter and get content this large rather than what SWTOR has turned into.
