I need to understand something with the new expansion...

They said they would "transfer characters to morrowind" or something like that

Does that mean I will not be able to talk to my friends who only have the base game and not the expansion or playing with them on the older content? or is that just a miscommunication?

Because honestly if thats true thats a crock of crap and I wont bother buying it.

I really hope this game isn't on a separate server or something because that just would not make any sense, I wont even bother going into the whole ESO plus thing because thats already annoyed the crap out of me.

yeah.... this is the problem :/ I dont want assumptions I want assurances because my friends are outright refusing to buy the expansion right now because of this ESO+ crap and the way it was communicated on twitch an hour or so ago.

They are obviously not creating a separate server for this, and like you already said it doesn't make any sense, and that's why they wouldn't.

i heard the same thing and have similar questions - i am not sure it will be "just another zone" either so i am waiting for more info with baited breath.

of course, waited may not be the right term, since i already pre-ordered and will buy it either way.

    yeah exactly, its really confusing.

not to mention the fact they did call it a "new game" which to be honest.....as an expansion makes no sense.

Especially considering in every other game you could still stay connected and travel between the non-exp regions and the exp region.

With the exception of RTS games of course as they are a completely different kettle of fish. New games in the same engine but it cannot work like that for a progression based MMO.

You will still be able to talk with your friends if you have access to the Morrowind content, but they only have the base game. It essentially works similar to what currently happens in DLC game packs with new zones, such as Dark Brotherhood. You can still talk with them, and even group with them, but they won't be able to jump to you if you're in the new zone. Does that make sense?

It makes total sense. It walks like a DLC, talks like a DLC but it's an expansion.

soooo it is basically a DLC in bigger you don't want to call a dlc because eso+ members would argue that it should be free then? i think you could avoid a lot of confusion if you would just say that it works like a normal dlc you do not get for free or can purchase with crowns. I don't mind paying (again) for stuff like that but just call it by its name

Yes thank you and that also means I can still do older content with them and travel to them in other zones?

Honestly, I think other people were/still are just as confused as I am/was due to the way it was said and presented on twitch.

    Incorrect.

Star wars the old republic (SWTOR) has free expansions for Subs.

I am aware that SWTOR has changed its sub features recently but its still a viable competitor and still relevant as a response.

(I also edited this post a bit as i felt it was a little bit too aggressive (the tone) as you were just trying to make a point)

Boxed is a totally different kettle of fish and you know it, boxed usually comes with goodies that orders online will not and so they should be seperate from sub generated purchases.

But that does not mean that those who "were" promised all (keyword being: Were) additional content with their sub shouldnt get it.

So they get the content and such, fine but they dont get the physical copy + the collectors items they have to buy it with cash to do that and just update their game via the disk.

I dont see a problem with this? subs get the base content of the DLC for free as they do with everything else but if they want the outside digital goodies they have to pay. Again I see no problem.

Has everybody forgotten how expansions used to go down years ago as digital was coming along? People would buy disk expansions and get goodies with them but the new digital purchase would get their own stuff as well. Okay sure, those are stand alone single player games but the principles the same. The lines become blurred, this is NOT a new game its a DLC as gina stated and its still connected to the rest of the game and on top of that it works like every other DLC so its just bigger so i see no reason why the subs shouldnt get the DLCs for free including morrowind seeing as they've been the backbone of the community since forever.

Sorry, but your friends have to buy it to. It is an expansion, not a DLC.

@ZOS_GinaBruno 's information directly refutes your post. I suggest going back and re-reading what she typed. Your friends do not have to buy it to still group or talk to/with them. They just can't jump to you if you're in an area of Vvardenfell and they haven't bought the expansion.

But you can still group with them and go through old content with them, just like every other DLC/Expansion for the game.

In short, they can't enter the zone of Vvardendell if they didn't buy it. But Vvardenfell is no different in how it functions than any other zone. Apart from how they get money from you. It is different in that way.

So are you really arguing that Morrowind is not a downloadable content?
So it is not downloadable and it is not content?
I am not sure why you are arguing with me while i just want to say the terms of ESO+ should be clarified.
I would argue that it would be much clearer if ESO+ would say that you while the membership lasts get access to all playable content purchasable by crowns for free.

Does that make sense?

soooo it is basically a DLC in bigger you don't want to call a dlc because eso+ members would argue that it should be free then? i think you could avoid a lot of confusion if you would just say that it works like a normal dlc you do not get for free or can purchase with crowns. I don't mind paying (again) for stuff like that but just call it by its name

no other high profile mmo releases expansions for free to subscribers. They release content patches for free but not expansions. So am not sure why anyone here would expect it to be free for subscribers?

because my eso+ says i have access to downloaded content included in it? i don't know any other mmo with this kind of deal. stop whiteknighting zenimax please.

ESO+ says i have Access to all of ESO’s downloadable content (or DLC) game packs (like literally)
I bet i can download Eso Morrowind and it obviously needs the base game (or as they word it includes it)
Not sure what is hard to understand there.

I don't mind paying for it just because it is obviously smth bigger than a normal dlc but people arguing that this is a bit strange can't be denied.
And this is not going to be a "DLC game pack", this is being listed as an "Expansion".

Different designation means different rules apply to Subscribers and non-subscribers.

I think the issue with it is that it was said in a way that indicated all future content or at least thats how it was pitched and thus regardless of how its changed its left its mark now and will never go away.
Ah, e-communities - the "pinnacle" of the internet............yeah, right.
