Two different instances of the world with Morrowind?

They mentioned:

- We will have a new tutorial;
- We can create a new char and start directly on the new zone with this new tutorial;
- We will be able to transfer our current characters to Morrowind expansion;

Sounds like we are going to have two different instances of ESO with Morrowind which I do not particularly like. I hoped Vvadernfell would act just like the previous DLCs but based on what they said so far it won't. How do you guys feel about this?

    It will act as a dlc... the transfer they used is just a fancy way of saying you can play the story also with existing characters

    They were super confusing in the stream, but Gina said in another thread that it basically works like any other DLC.

    What about the new tutorial though? We will skip the whole Molag Bal storyline?

    I'm assuming when they say you can transfer a character to Morrowind they just mean travel there, like going to a different Alliance or Cyrodiil and it's just a weird way of wording it.

    I can't see how it would make sense to do it any other way. The other possibility is that it's a separate version of the game and once you've gone there you can't go back, but if that was the case I imagine most people would be extremely wary of doing it, which would mean it's very bad game design.

    You can already do that right now...

    What it means is that a new character will start in morrowind first now

    I really really hope it will work as any other DLC.

    I want ESO to feel complete and coherent. Like, you buy DLCs & Exp. but all they do they fill the gaps in the map. NOT make the game as a separate experience.

    there will be no transfer, if you buy stand-alone edition (just Morrowind), then you play just Morrowind, if you buy the upgrade edition (or Eso base game+Morrowind editon), then apart from ESO base game, you just get access to Morrowind and can use the existing characters

    There is no standalone Morrowind version.

    I assume those characters will start on Vvadenfell but will be able to travel to the mainland and do the main storyline. But I don't know. (I also don't know how it'd work with picking an alliance - in theory if you start in Morrowind you're part of the Pact, but maybe there's a way around that.)

    I'd like to find out because I've been considering re-making my 2nd templar as a warden. I think it suits the character more and would feel less pointless to me than a 2nd templar. But if it means I've somehow skipped the whole main game story or I'm otherwise restricted I won't bother. I'll make an alt to check out the warden and the new tutorial but keep my main characters in the main game.

    Ok ok, but how will Morrowind-only ESO show the game on the map? Only Vvanderfell island? Isn't that like too small? :-/

    It IS a DLC and works like a DLC and acts like a DLC.

    It's just named differently so that ESO+ members aren't legally entitled to it.

    Beside the ESO+ issue, I also guess it's a marketing strategy to bring ESO back in the front row of physical and digital game stores as "new thing" and get some more spotlight.

    There is no morrowind-only eso... new players will have to buy the full game which includes morrowind and all of eso we have now... existing players can buy the upgrade (which is cheaper)

    There is no way to only have the morrowind part of the game

    Yep.

    There's Morrowind + the base game or Morrowind as an upgrade to the base game, but you cannot play just Morrowind on it's own.

    Basically they're improving on the great idea/horrible screw up Guild Wars 2 did - when they released an expansion they bundled the base game with it - making the base game essentially free to new players. Which was a great deal for them but lead to a lot of existing players complaining that they were being forced to buy the base game again to get the expansion and there should be a cheaper version for people who already have the game. Over a year on people are still angry about it.

    I'm guessing ZOS were aware of that (or just realised it'd look like a horrible deal for existing customers) and made a separate upgrade version.

    Ok, all clear now, thanks. :)

    They have created a new tutorial for Morrowind, which means there will probably be an option when creating a new character to either play the new Morrowind tutorial or the old 'Wailing Prison' tutorial. Depending on which you pick, your exit location will either be in an alliance zone for old tutorial or Vvanderfell with new tutorial.

    That would be ideal...
