    Instanced neighborhoods.

They had a lot of problems in FF14, but when they did work well it was was amazing. I always liked walking to my home and seeing the things my neighbors had done to theirs. Or actually seeing them out and about. Made a few friends just because I lived near them.

LOYTO also has instanced neighborhoods with streets and guild halls included in the mix, would be great here as well.

Im allready afraid of how many players actually are constantly coming and going to my house when im outside of it and when inside, constant clanking of door when they enter the house and exit.

What would I want in a house...you can't interact with anything so it just feels like a gold sink/cash grab. Other than putter around decorating I fail to see the point since you can't even sit on the chairs and there's no extra storage. Just seems like busywork to keep people distracted. If they add interaction with the furniture and storage I might see it as something worth the expense. Its not that hard to add an animation /pose node to furniture...I was doing it 10 years ago in 3DS Max and importing it to IMVU to sell.

    • Daily housing quests spawned at your house that reward you with furnishings.
    • Combat dummies included with house instead of being part of cash shop / grind
    • Attuned crafting stations with the ability to craft all sets from locations you have already visited instead of one station per set.

An alchemy garden would be nice to have. It doesn't have to be anything extensive - I would take a limited amount of ingredients - and quite frankly, it should grow far slower than zone in order to avert a large shift in the economy. Or just have them bound to the account. But it would be really nice to now that I have somewhere to go to get ingredients I need for the potions I make.

I wrote this a year ago, so some of this is out of date, but.....

    Player Housing

Ideas on what the future of housing could be. This is just a brainstorm. Many of these ideas might affect the game in negative ways that I can’t foresee or just not worth spending development time. Who cares, we’re having fun.... Its armchair developing.

The Obvious: Multiple sizes of homes (shacks to estates), plenty of furniture to decorate, and a way to display trophies.

Loot Chests: Well, one of these should just come with the DLC. A chest that is NOT connected to the bank, that you can safely story loot in. Maybe you could buy extras in the crown store (let’s be honest, we all know bag space/bank space is something people are willing to pay for and all MMO’s people know this).

Blue Prints: All furniture pieces, and other housing functionality must be crafted or found. In order to craft/build them, “blueprints” must be found. This would be dropped just like motifs or recipes.

Crafting Station Modules: I have mixed feelings about this one. I don’t think the functionality of housing should reduce the population of the cities. Cities should still feel like vibrant, social, functioning, populated places. BUT!! Maybe one or two crafting stations could be slotted into a home, after blueprints for the particular station is found.
    Small house: no crafting stations
Medium house: one crafting station may be built
Large house: Two crafting stations may be built.

Combat Dummies: Dummies that will allow you to attack and maybe even heal. Just something to get the numbers flying so you can test your character builds.

Farming: Large houses have enough land to farm food. Two-five plots can be used to either grow a certain type of plant or raise a certain type of animal. Each type of food has a timer (ala researching), that will produce the items. Rare food items take longer to grow.

Farming mini game: Maybe make the farming more interactive (this might drive people nuts).
Weeds: weeds will slowly grow in each garden slowing the production of food down 10% per weed. Weeds must be pulled.
Feeding: Animals that are not fed regularly, will see a decrease in procreation.
Harvesting: players must pick the plants or slaughter the animals to get food items.
Building features to increase Production: Finding blueprints to build, wells, feeding bins, shelters, storage sheds… etc, will increase production time, production output, and decrease maintenance times.

Secret rooms, Passages, Basements: buying/crafting trap-doors, and wardrobes with hidden entrances that lead to underground passages and secret areas expanding the home. Each one would have a separate function, like transport you to the nearest outlaw heaven, or lead to a personal secret wayshrine, or add one additional secret armor-set crafting station, or elemental pet summoning shrine, Soul gem mine (produces soul games each day), or underground fight pit for dueling, or secret guild meeting room, or underground forest that produces random potion crafting items. (again, nothing that will draw to many people from the city.)

Visiting Guest Loot Crate: I feel like it would be cool if a visiting guest could get a small gift while in your house. Maybe a small cash box that players can open that would hand out potions, soul-gems, poisons, lockpicks, crafting supplies, etc) Maybe a limit of 4 per day.

Armor Set dress forms: Dress one of these dress forms with a complete armor set, then when activated, it would swap your current equipped set with the one on the dress form.

I want smart mannequins. Here is what I mean. I want to be able to equip a mannequin just like I would equip my character (2 weapon bars, 7 armor, 3 jewelry) and label it. For example, i might have my mannequin labeled "BSW PVE DPS". In this example, he might be wearing 5 BSW, 4 Moondancer, 2 Grothdarr.

I would then be able to, from any character, go into my inventory and equip any mannequin I have dressed (obviously would need to be out of combat to prevent exploiting).

This would accomplish several things. First, the mannequins would look awesome in my house. Second, it would help a small amount with storage. Third, and probably most importantly, it would save me from changing the exact same gear set all the time between different toons. Forth, it would mean you don't find yourself grinding for two of the exact same piece of gear. Would pay serious crowns for a few of these.

    Mannequins for displaying armor.

    Weapon racks for displaying weapons

Mini games like cards, dice, etc

A Stable for your mounts where you could display several at once

Customizable signs for messages to players

This is a great idea. Would be nice to have a (directional) sign that says "Crafting area" or "Guest room" or "Hunding's Rage" :)

I'd like more interaction added. A small garden with alchemy items respawning daily. A fishing hole. More NPC's, acquired through various quests that will visit your home to make it feel more lively. Since dueling arenas and obstacle courses will be a thing, I'd also like to see craftable traps like lava pits, spike traps and more. Perhaps trigger mechanisms so you can spring the on other players at certain times, but now I'm getting into very wishful thinking territory.

And alchemy saplings or seeds for this should be dropped when gathering herbs in the game world. Same for trees (and animals, and mounts, and ...). It's a shame everything needs to be bought.

I would like to see the ability to place all of those "collectables" that you find while defeating mobs, that you have to actually type "DESTROY" to get rid ot. I saved them in my pack for months, thinking I would be able to place them in houses. Now I find out that they STILL have absolutely no purpose in the game other than to make you type the word 'DESTROY".

    1. A garden like they had in Skyrim, where we can grow vegetables like carrots, and poisonous plants to make poisons.
    2. To be able to sleep in a bed instead of just look at it. (Totally useless either way, but it's an RP thing, yo.)
    3. A higher cap for collectibles. Right now you can only put 4 pets/mounts in small homes, and 6 in medium homes, and that's a ridiculously small amount considering we'd like to put our mounts outside to view them.
    4. Weapon racks that are actually functional
    5. Armor dummies to display armor you've found
    6. To be able to steal a pie or apple or whatever, and put it in your own house without having to use 50 nickel and 17 blood diamonds plus your firstborn child to make a pie (or whatever the recipe is).
    7. A chest for storage that had maybe 20 inventory slots, but that was confined to the house (as opposed to just making the inventory bigger).... also like Skyrim. (Yeah, yeah ... I know the title said "except storage")

Fifth - for me at least, it would change how i view the storage - if i had say three of these for every character out of 12 9including 8 quickslots) then i would be saying to myself "what other gear do i need to keep around hogging up my inventory" and that would really help me empty out the tons of stuff i have kept now "just in case".

It would change "how" i use my inventory and make it more efficient which is far more beneficial than adding a new way to buy more slots in a cluttered stack of thousands of slots.
