What sort of extra functionality you wish for yer house? (Not including storage)

So wish away, tell us what YOU would like from your homey home?

My wishes would be..

Fir smaller like apartments and such, chairs that you can interact with to sit, drawers where you can place one or two items like collectibles or books, perphaps just for treasure you currently can pickpocket like dolls and combs and that sort of stuff. I would also like to be able to add my favorite pet(s) to my house or fill my house with cats for example with pets name shown. An occasional burglar visit would be interesting aspect as well, maybe your pet could help protect your home or you could call in a guard but if you dont notice the burglar, it will steal sopmething from those drawers or closets, some of your treasure.

Also, wardrobe for only clothing/armor and a weapon rack for couple of weapons. Wardrobe would have for example 5-10 slots. Cant be accessed from crafting tables.

For bigger houses, a stable where you could stable your active mount with name shown.

Also burglars but also very rare raid by ruffians of sort would be interesting.

In all cases, these burglars and bandit raids should be fully optional, not forced on you so a setting to disable/enable is required.

I also demand a garden, yes, demand. Even while they said somewhere that it is not a possibility right now, i think they are completely wrong in opting out from that, completely cosmetic housing will be eventually extremely boring.

Some other NPC activity.

Servants, bodyguards.. Gardener.. stablekeeper etc, all sorts of activity.

Would also be lovely to get visit from people you helped sometimes, visit from Abner Tharn would be.. Interesting.. Darion Gautier, Raz, Lyris Titanborn.. Would be nice to see them.

These are what i wish.

To me your house, once fully fitted out, should provide everything you need between quests i.e. a shop, a bank and crafting stations. I understand you can place the shop NPC in your home BUT this NPC cannot repair gear, so if it works the same as now, you'd still have to go somewhere else to get your gear repaired (unless you want to use repair kits).

So the thing missing right now appears to be a shop which repairs gear. If they add that in, the home becomes the perfect place to sort out your stuff ready for the next quest, with no need to go to town except to pick up crafting writs.

I'd also like to see: pets that move around your house, NPCs such as a butler, gardener, housecarl, steward etc who move around, the option to get married and adopt children like in skyrim hearthfire, armor mannequins, racks to display weapons, and water features like ponds and fountains.

A shop, a namk? Thats not really reasonable, Home is stilol just a home, even in game. If there is too much functionality, cities will go empty, people will not see other people anymore though sometimes i think it would be blessing, anyways...

In the end it would go just as Warcrafts garrisons, people would start to complain about them, too much functionality, everyone just sits there and does nothing.

Houses will need functionality but i think it should be for fun, not for performance..

Only thing though... I think bigger houses could benefit from ccrafting stations, people can craft at real homes too after all.

A bed you can sleep on.
A place to stash a small number of umm "procured" items so those thieving guards don't get them.
A couple of manaquins that I can put a whole set and up to 4 weapons on (to quick swap sets between characters or display)
Some wall plaques I have7 charged maelstrom axes.....I think? It's a few, I decided that that I wanted a house full of useless maelstrom weapons although I doubt I'll ever get this now, I'd settle for spreading them around on walls I've been hanging onto them for this purpose though. I want some plaques to decorate with by hanging weapons (and the useless shields too)
    Weapons rack
A DPS dummy that applys a dot because some armour sets need damage to them to proc.
    My pets to be animated.
My monster helms... I don't care about the bust of the end of dungeon boss . Just let me put some helmets somewhere,
I think my vampire wants a thrall
A steward (who gets a bit of heartwood or decorative wax even the odd plan.)

A bed to interact with, as in, press E and you climb UNDER the covers and snuggle up on your pillow for a nice night's sleep. It's a small thing but man would it be nice, imo.

We definitely need a way to grow plants in a garden.

I know you said no storage but, for me a House needs to have storage. I feel strange having all these cabinets/trunks/barrels with no functionality.

Not to nitpick, but... those two things will already be a thing. You also mentioned books, and while you won't be able to put them in drawers, you will be able to put books from lorebook collections you've completed on bookshelves.

So some of your desired features are already there, at least. :)
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Only thing though... I think bigger houses could benefit from ccrafting stations, people can craft at real homes too after all.

The problem with garrisons was the combination of functionality combined with the availability of basic farm materials, conversion of garrison resources to all end-game materials, having end-game gear totally reliant on garrisons, providing numerous rewards (more materials, gold, mounts, pets, gear) from the garrison mini-game, all while providing very few reasons / incentives for players to spend time in the larger game world.

Allowing players to use their home as their personal base for chores like banking, crafting, repair, mount training, etc while NOT providing the ability to use the home as a means to gain materials, gold, gear, etc while providing reasons to go out into the larger world just isn't the same thing.

Anyways, absent functionality allowing players to handle most of their daily 'chores' at home instead of in town leaves homes useless IMO - I can look at the homes and see them fully decorated all over the game world, and I don't need to spend my gold or real life cash to do so.

How could i forget the bed, an interactive bed is really something we need. I want to snuggle in too. Perphaåps the bed could give minor XP boost as rest xp as well but i certainly do9nt need anything more than a bed i can sleep in.
I know you said no storage but, for me a House needs to have storage. I feel strange having all these cabinets/trunks/barrels with no functionality.

I would like to have some function on those too BUT it needs to be very limited.. Fo example wardrobe could only carry few parts of clothing or armor, a trunk some treasure or wweapons, weapon rack 4 weapons.. Barrels that can hold food ingredients in your kkitchen..

But i think those armors and weapons should not be available for crafting stations at any time. The banks and services in cities NEED to have some usee too so cities stay populated.

I'm only speaking for myself, everyone has different desires when it comes to housing.

Our guild spent 7 years in another game before coming here. That game had housing & guild housing.

I found that I rarely spent time in my own house, mainly using it for long term storage (something we won't have).

We used our Guild house for displaying (some really cool!) raid trophies and other cool decorations.
The trophy limit seems very low for ESO housing.

The biggest thing we used housing for was guild events & parties. In that game, guild & regular houses were integrated into neighborhoods, with lots of space to spread out for events (and no player limits).

With a guild of 500 active members and peak logins north of 150 concurrent, 24 player limit in the manors won't come close to allowing everyone who would like to participate to join. It would be a lot more doable with a limit 2-4x that number.
So, even though we'll buy a house for the guild, it'll be limited to training dummy and crafting tables. That's a shame.
Thankfully, the faction separation went away with 1T so we can at least get together somewhere in the open world.

Instead of just clicking a "purchase" button, I would have loved the opportunity to *build* a house/village for our guild from the ground up, with perks for doing so. Imagine if the guild crafting table required 1 less gold temper, or if crafting food netted 5 instead of 4, if potions lasted a few seconds longer, etc.

I realize what we got is a personal housing system, with encouragement from ZoS to use it for Guild Housing.
Perhaps actual guild housing will come somewhere down the road and it will be more robust.

We'll get one for our guild to use, but I'm not sure if I'll bother with a personal house, based on how little I used it in the last game I played. Having a collection of attuned crafting stations might be cool, but it's so cost-prohibitive that it makes more sense to put those in a guild house that everyone can use.

Glad it's finally here, I'm sure a lot of people will be excited about setting up their houses.

Personally, it feels to me like it might be a bit too grindy/expensive for the average player and could use more functionality to keep people coming back to their houses.

Hmm, i would like guild houses/keeps/towers as well.

In LOTRO, we spent many long times in ur guild hall, taklking and having all sorts of funn. Instead of just house, a guild house or hall..

I also think that the building of house would be interesting and with "phasing", also possible.. I however, would like to grow a Telvanni tower.

I would like a chores grind. dishes piling up to be washed, if left unwashed, infestation begins, maggots, rats and so on, leading to the need for single target extermination with a stick. Or you can spend a few hours a day cleaning to keep things under control and prevent your furniture from decaying.

i had a list on other threads but here goes:

    New Functionality
"Plots" - let me plant/dig/enchant a variety of nodes so that i have "patch of kresh" or start a "rubedite dig" or set out some "thick leather traps" or enchant a runestone node" or plant a patch of "Ambassador root" so that once a day i can harvest my "garden." now of course these should be within reason but think of them as the housing method of duplicating the hireling passives.
Manageable Storage - where i can build a chest or rack and store "groups" of things and then NAME the chest/rack so i know on hover-cursor whats inside at least by the name of the chest. So give me multiple flavors of these.
Mirror/Racks - Simple - right click to select "swap all" and my worn armor, jewels, quickslots all transfer to the Mirror/rack and what is on there loads onto me. plus a slower items by item load or take for when i want to be picky.

    Convenience
Repair Station - Obviously let me "do" my own repairs - paying for the ingredients just like i would pay your typical grocer to fix my Gold Quality Pauldrons of Selene.
Guild Mailboxes (Runners) - Allowing access to a given "guild" from my home for acquiring dailies and "turning in" dailies." mages guild would include consumable writs and their madness stuff, fighters would include equipment dailies and their dolmen stuff, Undaunted would include pledges and their delve stuff, TG, DB etc.
Merchant Couriers - Each is tied to a specific cluster of guild stores (like say the ones in windhelm or the ones in Wayrest) allowing me to access them from home for buying.
Guild Couriers - Secure and confidential, these allow me acces to my guild banks and stores but not my normal banking activities.
Groomsman - These take care of the horses and provide riding lessons if you have the cash.

NOTE None of these would duplicate or replace the crown bought merchant or banker.
NOTE: Only the plots are "creative"(putting new stuff into inventory.)
NOTE: most are either better organization or saving the time to walk over to commonly available NPCs time after time after time.

I'd like more interaction added. A small garden with alchemy items respawning daily. A fishing hole. More NPC's, acquired through various quests that will visit your home to make it feel more lively. Since dueling arenas and obstacle courses will be a thing, I'd also like to see craftable traps like lava pits, spike traps and more. Perhaps trigger mechanisms so you can spring the on other players at certain times, but now I'm getting into very wishful thinking territory.

Oh that reminds me, larger player cap for the larger homes. Maybe allow a guild itself to own a home, with greatly increased player cap.

I think allowing a placed assistant full functionality might be good, makes home a good place to park a character after they're done for the day.
