Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Storage wasn't added cause only 3% of the active player base has max upgraded their bags and bank!

Most likely you will be building storage crates, wardrobes, armoires, armor racks, shelves and the like. The more storage the more elaborate the crafting - takes up a furnishing slot for your house.

The theory that it will cost IRL crowns instead of in-game is just pessimism-on-parade - seems the most common parade round these parts. (Though there likely would be a crown alternative.)

Maybe if the upgrade prices were not ridiculously over priced at higher ranges we would. To me the gamer makes me think the Devs are just upset because no one is buying bag upgrades in crown store. Well i say shame on you Devs same on you.

you miss the point, people want it to be craftable, and theres already useless cosmetic only craftable storage in game, we just want it to be functioning like it should...persumably

my PC and XBOX accounts have probably been added to the statistic of players not having max upgrades.
Those accounts have been dead since I switched to the PS4.

Isn't it nice when ZOS blames you for not adding storage in housing?
    Freaking wonderful.

    Really?

If that is their "reasoning" I suggest they need to employ people who can actually think rationally.

why are we getting punished for people who dont play the game? i did think active players ment something nut i guess im wrong...

Same reason why the vet players are getting punished, so the new and transient and casual players can feel like they're vet players right away.

So easy solution: If ZOS wants to punish vet players and reward casuals, just become a casual and put your actual effort (and money) into another game.

So...ESO Live confirmed the reason why.

Seems this is "our" fault if your bags and bank isn't maxed out. This is from Phillip Draven's commentary today
*Edits...to clarify it seems around 50% haven't done any upgrades but not only 3%

I get that idea BUT I'm curious if they understand that including alts isn't good data analysis.

On the contrary tho.....they are pushing crown upgrades and offer in game gold so...that's been made extremely clear that ppl need to do upgrades or not make alts (HUH???) Again @ZOS_PhilipDraven does the analysis not also show 7 to 8/8 on accounts without max upgrades as compelling that perhaps the cost of upgrading is out of line with the value it offers?

I have 8 active characters but I only use two who have maxed inventory. The others have upgrades but not more than 4........I don't agree with the methodology explained but I do want to make sure we have clearly understood your comments cause to be fair, you were only given a few moments to speak on that topic and it may have been a question without fair time to prepare the answer.

    Thoughts?

I dont think it is worth it to max out inventory and bank space. Why should I pay the REDICULOUS exponential gold increase on bag space and bank space. And, 1,000 crowns for 10 bag space is stupid.
Storage didn't need to be added, but blaming us is scummy just because you didn't wanna give us something free that would be helpful.

To be clear for the future when storage is introduced into housing you are ghoing out on the limb and saying storage wont be allowed as in-game crafted but will have to be bought with crowns?

please confirm so we can put in a google notice to check back in a couple months to check the predictions.

My prediction is we will either see both -crafted and crown in-house storage - or at least only the in-game crafted storage - within the next year - which is a long shot given no year ahead knowledge yet.

Honestly, there are so many things missing from what I WANTED to see with housing that storage is only a portion of my total disappointment.

Housing as a whole is a complete let down for me at this point. It is being rolled out as nothing more than a MASSIVE gold, crown, and material sink.

In my opinion, there is almost no return on my investment if I purchase a home.

For me the issue is price of upgrades. Other gold sinks such as respeccing have been reduced to acceptable levels but storage upgrades are still at launch prices.
Some people even have a second account just to have 8 additional storage mules. To say storage in this game isn't an issue and people can upgrade if they need more is coming from someone who may work for the company but doesn't play the game. I'd say 25% of my game time is storage related.

Perhaps a better metric they could have used is this:

Check the amount of characters per account that are lower than L10 that have full inventory and that are NEVER played (as in they never gain XP, or the last XP they gained was a time < a threshold date,) and compare it to the REAL total ammount of characters that are being ACTIVELY played.

IF the selection includes conditions as to exclude inactive accounts and trial accounts, I wonder if that query would turn the numbers around...

I bet it will, and the numbers then would should a complete different picture.

This is just me, but as far as I'm concerned your entire house should be a "Storage unit." You should just be able to drop things where ever you like. If i want to decorate my house by dropping apples all over the floor, for the price whether in gold or crowns--it should be allowed.

I bet it will, and the numbers then would should a complete different picture.

it would paint a picture that some people are using alts for free storage.

    So what?

What if 95% of the active players were using alts as storage and have not maxed the other in-game storage options?

That would not support prioritizing additional sources of housing.

that would show the players have already found alternative means to meet their storage needs - in this case - free alts.

Since ZoS isn't talking about removing alts or removing horse capacity or removing other forms of "cheap" in-game storage upgrades, they would exist and be used regardless.

How many active players have gone the full road to max all, even the most expensive in-game lptions, is a measure of NEED for additional storage options. That factor was low.

How many active players have used none of the in-game storage increase options is a measure of how many dont need additional storage. that factor was significant.

How many active players have used some of the cheap or free and easily available storage in-game increases and avoided the more expensive ones is not a measure of increased need for more but is really a measure of how many reached a balance point they are now actively playing at. they stopped buying storage even though there is more and are still playing - no compelling need to prioritize changing that on day one of housing.

Houses up to this point were just a pointless addition to the game as far as I am concerned. Storage at least makes them slightly useful. Now how about some animated NPC, Mannequins on which to display armour etc.

I currently use Guild storage and Alts to store all my miscellaneous rubbish.

This ZOS-explanation reminds me of a historical annecdote.

In WW1 the British military gave helmets to every soldier as a mandatory part of their uniform. Surprisingly their military hospitals were flooded with soldiers who had head injuries. Naturally they banned soldiers from wearing helmets after that, since it was obviously harmful. What they later realized was that soldiers who previously would have died, then only got injured, which caused the increased number of wounded soldiers.

Moral of the story: sometimes things are counter intuitive. When analysing statistics, ask yourself if you are seeing correlation or causality and ask yourself if you have accounted for every possible cause of your observation.
