See if you can find any data on provisioning shortly after launch. When the game began, ingredients and recipes were based on region, and there was a LOT more variety. (I will always remember the pie that had worms in it.)

ingredients were consolidated after a little while to make provisioning less unwieldy, more universal across all races.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Holy crap this is awesome and I found some really cool tidbits.

First off, it looks like altmer food is a cross between french/cajun and asian cuisine. They really seem to like quiche, roast pork, liver and crawfish but also goat dumplings, stir-fries, century soup (an anime reference), and fried rice. Honestly there's a lot I dont like about what ZOS did with the altmer, but I'm really digging the subtle asian vibes they're giving them. It mixes them up a bit and gives their culture some personality beyond snobbery.

Their food, like A LOT OF THINGS as we're slowly finding out, is suspiciously similar to the dunmer's, which may indicate they didn't "change" as much as Veloth would've hoped.

See how much we can learn from food and drink?? I'll keep commenting as I find more stuff on other races.

For what it's worth, I think there were some errors in the original drop tables. Guar eggs showing up on the Dominion recipe list, but not on the Pact one. Similarly, horker meat being a common Covenant food stuff, while the Pact ignores it seems odd.

Sure the details on the ingrediants may be a bit flawed in order to accomodate game mechanics, but I think the food is still intended to be more or less accurate.

Yeah, more or less. I think there were a few mistakes. Actually, I know there were a few mistakes, (recipes which didn't drop, or had the wrong names). That's why I'm more inclined to look at that list as a set of rough guides, rather than absolute fact.

Are there any specific examples of the food they eat in-game? I'm having trouble finding food and drink that are uniquely altmer or imperial.

It's not like bosmers eats others because they like (but maybe they like), but they must eat an enemy killed by theirself because of Green Pact. They have 3 days to eat dead enemy and they can share with their family. I guess Y'ffre just don't like rotting corpses in Valen.
Normally they eat animals and I think they can eat eggs, milk and honey. And salt. And they're able to make vodka with meat.

This is a year old thread, but I did read a book called A Culinary Adventure, it talks about Argonian cuisines. Most were insects, slugs, and a skinned/gutted snake, stuffed with shooms, rice and a live mouse. There's also a deadly poisonous toad and soup that need to be eaten together in a correct order, as the poison from one cancels out the other. Too much of either will kill.

    Imperials eat Argonians.
Orcs eat Khajiits and Argonians and Bretons.
Argonians eat Bosmer and snakes, and fish.
    Bretons eat Argonians.
Dunmer eat Argonians and kwama eggs.
Nords eat Argonians and drink mead.
    Redguards eat Argonians and sweetrolls.
Bosmers eat every other race, but particularly Altmer.
Altmer eat Argonians and pretend it's chicken.

I think that pretty much covers it.

When they aren't eating you, Bosmer like to chug rotmeth in parties, basically fermented meat water with thunderbug organs to spice it up.

    Then there's Aunt Anella's Cookbook:

    Jagga:

Set several shallow pans of boiled pig's milk cream where the cat can't step on them and leave alone for a day, then stir several times per day thereafter.

Strain the whey into a separate vessel, keeping the curds in their pans. Break the curds apart with a spoon, then allow the curds to dry into shards.

Stir daily to keep them from spoiling. Once dry, use these shards to thicken skimmed pig's milk, or to add more cream to plain pig's milk.

Bottle and let ferment for 3 weeks.

Note that you can drink the whey immediately, or use it in other recipes.

    Blood Froth:

Pour fresh blood into shallow pans and place in the cold cave till nearly congealed. Meanwhile, whip together a couple of chicken egg yolks and melted tallow.

Using a sharp knife, slice the blood into chunks, then dice. This is why you let it congeal first - it's impossible to dice fresh blood!

Whip the blood slivers with the yolks and tallow, adding more tallow if needed to thin into a beverage. Add salt to taste.

Set aside for a month to allow it to ferment.

    Fermented Honey Liquor:

Combine two hives' of strained honey with twice the amount of water, and a handful of hops. Cover and let ferment for a season before tasting. Ladle into bottles, seal them with beeswax, and put away.

The longer you let the bottles sit, the better the liquor will be.

And don't forget dark meat beer:
First of all, it takes years for all the meat and bugs to fall in. And they have to fall naturally. Crosswings have a fierce bitterness when they die afraid.

Then, you must stretch seventeen strings of the thinnest Alfiq-gut over each barrel. Press aged meat onto the strings, being careful not to let any fall before it has properly rotted. Then dust the meat with the finely chopped skins of the red-striped Frog to make sure the crosswings are drunk and happy when they hit the drink. You do this every month for three or more years, until you have enough meat and bugs to fill the barrel. And that's not even counting the enchantments. You must have spells to attract the crosswings and mimics. And spells to keep out the flipbacks, tree-hoppers, and hoarvor larvae.

There are spells to encourage the green mold and prevent the brown and white molds. Then you have to seal the barrel for nine or more years until the last of the green mold turns. Good thing we have long lives, eh?
