Crown price ranges are realistic or crazy for unfurnished houses?

I'll be getting a house with crowns as I don't want to spend gold on it and then furnish it myself and have fun doing so.

I just hope that more thn just a few forumites will tell them to check where the sun don't shine. Sorry, forgot that it is not allowed under threat of bans to voice a negative opinion about crown store pricing.

It's about what I expected them to charge but more than I think it's worth. It's certainly more than I'd be willing to pay.

But I'd been planning to buy one with gold anyway, so it doesn't really bother me.

Quite similar to my thoughts. Bit overpriced for unfurnished houses but hey, we are calling Zos "Zo$" for reasons

This one would like to have a manor, but this one would never have enought gold for that, as this one is only few times a week out in Tamriel and does not own a trading guild

If crown exclusives are more than 10k... compared to manor with title i guess no one will buy crown exclusives. Manors should be cheaper i guess it should be aroun 5.500-6k. 4 months of eso plus membership reward for completely empty house. At least manor. This would be sensible.

Ridiculously low! It's obviously a case of selling an item that worth a lot of gold, grinding and somewhat of a status symbol of financial success in the game for a bargain crown price to move lots of units. Like the Glass Motif debacle.

And I wasn't even contemplating one of the mansions.

    If there was storage... reasonable.

    But its just fluff.

Either you pay for instant gratification or you go out and farm and sell and work your way towards it.

You are BUYING your way through the game with real money, it's going to cost a premium. Whatever your circumstances, if you can't play often, don't expect hand outs on what people work towards in-game.

Buy a $3 house and be happy. You already don't need the required achievements to buy the house with in-game gold. Considering buying gold would cost 3-4x more, this is sensible.

    @Praeficere

Just to correct one thing tho....the cheapest unfurnished home costs $10 not $3. That's a big difference and almost the cost of an entire dlc

This is outright offensive, considering that the most essential function - storage- is missing, and will probably come at another hefty price. ZOS seems to be really desperate. Sad.

    @Praeficere

Crowns aren't free tho so it's $10 regardless in terms of the actual cost.
The only argument is if someone never subs who purchased 1500 on the sale price but it's still over $7

Though I don't particularly like the pricing, I'm not surprised by it and I expected it to be a little higher given recent pricings - though we will wait and see what tags they put on furnished homes.

If you fast-forward ahead to next month and look at the last 3 quarterly updates (SoTH, 1T, Homestead), only one of them has been a paid update - SoTH - and that was only 1,500 Crowns (IIRC) - so I can to some degree see why ZoS have had to recoup the 'lost' paid DLC money by pushing high-ticket items and now costly housing.

I've got about 7,000 crowns saved up from a discounted crown pack a while ago and my ESO+. I'll sit on it and wait until plus gives me enough for my home of choice (Strident Springs!) as I have no interest in dumping crowns into fluff - if I'm going to pay for something then I want it to be something that has taken work to produce - not just a reskin of pre-created assets.

It's a home not a motif. I think the prices aren't that bad. After the last bomb with the motif at 6000, I was expecting housing to be like 20k miniimum.

Nope. I'm a sucker, but not enough to sink more cash into a cosmetic, along with the extra furnishings, than it cost me to buy my PS4 or a few AAA games in the recent PSN sales. I simply don't think a cosmetic house is worth more than Skyrim (all dlc), Dragon Age (all dlc), FO4 (all dlc) and TLoU (dlc included too) combined. I have around 18k crowns and I'm still hoping I'll get to spend them on something worth while such has been the dire lack of anything interesting that I feel is worthy of me spending virtual currency which cost real money.

Props to those who will garner enjoyment from it, but for me, the novelty would wear off after an hour or 2.

Having thought about it a bit more I think the biggest losers in this are going to be the poor devs that spent however long designing a system that could have revitalised the game...

People would have been buying and selling more to get the funds to buy the houses.

People would have been running more content in order to get things to sell. As well as getting the achieves needed to qualify for the houses and the luxury furniture.

Crafters would have been doing their thing to actually have things to craft and sell again.

The game economy would have livened up again.

But why would anyone spend nearly 4m in game gold which can take months of playing to acquire when they can just drop the equivalent of a couple of hours of work to do the same thing and retain the money for buying BiS items when these things rotate again?

The low end pricing is not unreasonable and would serve for them to rake in cash by people just wanting to avoid the content and have a decent house but by making such small margins they make playing the game seem like too much effort for too little reward - I get the greed that drives them but to cash in on stuff like this you need a thriving game that is being played not just 3 monthly drops of content directly to the cash shop.

Just seems like they have shot themselves in the foot a little here by not making the higher tier housing more pricey while keeping the lower end more easily affordable.

I can't believe the number of players who think a decent-sized house should be as cheap or even cheaper than a mount or motif. I look forward to them accepting my reasonable offer for their real-life house, which I intend to fund by selling my car.

I cant believe anyone would think a digital item that you dont have actual ownership of, and must forfeit once the servers are shut down, should be worth more than the game itself.

I'm actually playing the game and saving all my gold. Made half a mil in a week farming mats and selling them in traders as well as buying low and selling high. No way in *** all hell am I paying a cent of real money on a cosmetic item, ever. I advise everyone to not buy any of these houses in crown store, it's so easy to get gold in game.

The only thing I have ever purchased in that crown store that I bought crowns to get is the DLC Megapack aka Content.

ZOS sets the development agenda and determines what content is released and when - if adding very little new content for three quarters was an issue for their revenue line, that is on them, not the players.

The other way to look at this is that ZOS has realized they can generate higher earnings by filling in their content patches with cheaper content (like copy / paste housing) and monetizing it with micro-transactions and gamble boxes over creating large paid DLC content like Orsinium on a regular basis - so expect the interval between decent sized playable patches to continue to increase while more and more 'filler' patches are full of fluff that can be easily monetized.

And in case any wants to argue that this isn't what they are doing now, then explain why cosmetic stuff like the last mount, gamble boxes, and now homes cost most than the base game and DLCs?

It is clear the money isn't in providing regular updates to game play content, it is in providing a virtual world set in Tamriel, and then peddling lots and lots of little cosmetic items to its inhabitants.

Yah they initially said they didn't have time to add in storage before it launched but it was something they wanted to do in the future. Now on ESO live it sounds like they are contemplating not adding storage at all because looking at some (specious) statistics, only a small % of players have fully upgraded their personal/bank storage.

Given the outcry on the forums, I hope they realize their mistake and offer it in the near future. It definitely has me thinking twice about the whole house thing.
