Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Storage wasn't added cause only 3% of the active player base has max upgraded their bags and bank!

My heart sunk when I watched this segment on ESO Live.

Were they telling me that I am partially to blame that we are not getting additional ways to store items just because I am part of the 97% who has not maximized my bag space on every character slot I have?

This post is my formal apology that one of my alt characters has only a max inventory of 170 slots including maxing out horse training for this character.

I am so so sorry and I am not being sarcastic in the least.

"Hardcore" fans hate to be reminded that they are the minority but they should be aware of it.
The core mechanics of the game are designed for everyone. I think it makes sense that they're tailored around the majority. In the case of storage, there are two mechanics attached : the bag extension in crowns and the bag extension in gold. The first one is direct income for ZOS. The second one is a gold sink and also a mean to retain players by "forcing" them to log in daily to feed horses.
If the majority of the playerbase had been done with either of those mechanics, they'd probably have considered storage, but that's not the case.
And not to forget that they won't want to devalue the crafting bar.

That being said, I don't think it was very clever from ZOS to "explain" it that way. It makes their "7 million accounts" look like dead accounts to 95%...

For a change, I completely agree with ZOS - if only 3% of players maxed out their storage it means no need to simply increase storage. If you have not maxed it means you don't want storage, you want FREE storage - which is completely different requirement, and honestly I don't see why it has to be fulfilled.

Another story is additional storage you pay for, I'd really would like to be able to craft wardrobe/weapon rack with crafting price similar or even higher than target dummy.

I am pretty sure most players in this thread and others are arguing about the complete lack of storage availability and not demanding that it is also free.

In this very thread you have people stating they would be fine with a crown cost. I am pretty sure players have also stated that they would be fine purchasing the storage with game gold.

I for one would prefer housing storage over storage on another character. I can jump to my house to grab my stuff instead of logging out. I would pay for that convenience. I don't think it should be some kind of litmus test to see if I maximized all of my inconvenient storage first before I can want the more convenient version.

Sorry ZOS Im not paying that much in game gold OR real life money for max storage. Bank I stopped at 75k. I refuse to pay another 80k just for 10 more slots. You wanna blame the community for not maxing out storage on bank and characters... some people have 12 characters. I don't really wanna figure the math there but holy crap that's a ton of gold. Nah man don't pin this on us.

Wait.. did they honestly explain the lack of storage for houses with people not upgrading their bank/inventory? Or did I misinterpret this?

Nope. That is exactly the explanation. Because we did not waste thousand of crowns on upgrading our bank and packs to their max, we obviously do not need any storage.

Lol if this is why they aren't making house storage that's sad... I have 6/8 of my base characters 1/8 of that is My crafting character 2/8 of that is my Secondary which is a NB tank and my Tertiary which will be a DK trial tank. The other 3/8 which will be eventually 5/8 of that is going to be Thief characters made specifically to get my Crafter more money to even upgrade his bank and inventory both sitting at 110/110 respectively

Id love to max out the storage space for everyone I really would but to have to make 5 alts to max out the storage space of 1 character is a bit obscene

If they want everyone to max out every character they need to make it so the upgrades are cheaper in game. I haven't even gotten a Mount yet because of how much money I need to put into maxing out my Storage.

    No. No I'm not.

It's the hardcore fans who really push the envelope of a game, who create videos that go in-depth to game mechanics, show strategies, offer advice, create websites, work on social networks and help promote the game. Word of mouth is very strong, and it's often the the hardcore players who create the communities, massive guilds and do a lot of work to create bonds which keep players in game. The hardcore players are those few souls who craft gear for free for guildies, who help others run dungeons after they're tired of running it 100+ times because of lack of content.

And we're being told that because most players DON'T upgrade all their gear it's impossible for use to get even a small addition to our bank space? We're the people who create theory builds, test armor and go above and beyond. Yeah, we're not the average player base, but we're also not asking for a lot. We're just asking for more storage.

It's disrespectful to be told that we can't have more storage because most players don't upgrade and max out their storage. Do you know WHY we have so much gear? Because ZOS made almost every set worth getting bind on pickup. We don't want to carrying around a crapload of gear, but it's not like we can easily get it back if we sell or deconn it. No, I really DON'T want to rerun every trial 20-30 times in the hopes of rebuilding a set if I need it.

ZOS created this problem. Now we're being told it's the other players who are at fault because we can't have nice things.

I like ZOS, I do, and they made a really great game that I love to support... but this is flat out insulting.

You're making a lot of assumptions there. If someone didn't complete a chapter in the main quest, that doesn't mean that they abandoned the game. It just means that they didn't do the main quest. Maybe they didn't care for it and they just wanted to explore all of the zones. Maybe they just wanted to run dungeons. Maybe they just wanted to PVP. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to it yet.

    @UrQuan

Only 12.1% of people achieved the rank of recruit. Isn't that the rank you get just by stepping into Cyrodiil? Only 12% have captured a keep/lumber mill or mine, yet it's one of the easiest and most natural achievements you can earn. I got it before getting my first kill.

Not completely disagreeing with you, but due to the delves percentages being around the 1.3 - 0.2% mark, I highly doubt 60-odd percent of people are now running around doing other things. The lvl 50 stat (12.3%) also says not many of those people hung around for any great length of time

Of course they're not all running around doing other things. The point is you really can't use those statistics for anything at all other than exactly what they show - or at least not without a lot more different data points that you simply don't have access to. For the record, I'm saying that as a professional. I do risk-based statistical analysis for a living.

It's not just insulting, but it's fairly laughable to even consider. They want us to be constructive, they should be doing the same. Yet all channels of dialogue are closed and so we have to pretty much make a big fuss to even get heard. Even if we max out the storage and sub for the crafting bag; That's STILL a lot of sets to cover. Mules isn't a solution.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom it's time that official dialogue be opened between developers and the player base.

its all Horker-excrement, the fact they make things up like that so they don't have to make a 4th bank slot or a new slot for us to store Items. If they offer it from crowns they are really being mis managed. And would argue there being worse then EA.

I belong to a small guild of friends who share items in our Guild Bank.

...and I spend 2-4 hours per week playing Inventory Management Online instead of Elder Scrolls Online, thanks to all the Bind on Pickup sets which were introduced in Update 12.

Some sets, I can trade to group members or throw out immediately. (I mean, Undaunted Bastion? Noble Duelist?!). Some sets, I can trade or throw out duplicate pieces, or pieces with bad traits. Other sets, I collect in case they are useful one day.

And all of those sets take up space in my personal bank and on my mule characters.

The question shouldn't be "how many players have never upgraded their storage space?" but "what is the average storage capacity of a Level 50 character?".

Maxed bank, maxed bag inventory on 12 characters, maxed horse bag on 8 almost 9 and crown store bag. Storage in a house would still help or increase personal bank space. You added a whole of new sets with 1Tam but didn't increase inventory options.
