Im curious, are their statistics based on max level characters only?

Seems silly to factor in low level characters that haven been played for months and months.

The reality of this matter however is probably this:

More bag space options in game means less need to sub to ESO+ for the benefits it gives to your inventory space. Why would the devs want to discourage players from buying ESO+ ? They wouldnt. Hence, no housing storage

Alts are not a solution, ffs. Even if I had enough gold to max out inventory on all my alts, I still don't want to have to relog for every little thing and turn perfectly playable characters into nothing more than pack mules - not to mention that without ESO+, I don't have enough space in my fully upgraded bank to comfortably move items around.

Is that 50% of players or 50% of toons because if many are like me then they have every toon slot filled with a mule but probably only spent gold to upgrade their main to max inventory.

Please tell me they didn't actually say that out loud? ?

If so,probably went something like this....

Dev 1 : "darn, can't get storage in houses to work,I'm just not skilled enough..."
Dev 2 : "Just leave it out....then we will blame the players ,since not all of them have spent millions maxing their bags obviously they don't need storage anyway...."

Think it's time to take a break from this game soon :/

To be honest and fair WE are to blame for this one..... If we could just come together and not buy a single housing item or house till they add some functional items like storage would solve this problem... But everyone will gladly shell out hundreds of dollars for a cosmetic house.....

God know that I will stay in my inn till they add some useful things to housing....if only everyone did the same just like it happened on Everquest a few years back they will change it.... I mean..ALMOST everyone is asking for storage in houses, they even said it on ESO live... But we as customers are soo dumb that we dont see that we have the power to change this outcome.....

Come to think of ir... This reminds me of election day

This is also very backwards looking. The 75% reduction in AP boxes and the cheap 5k AP regional boxes are going to flood inventories with gear. Add to that 1100+ furnishing designs and ~3000 furnishings, and you have an inventory management NIGHTMARE for the 3% of people that are going to be 90% of your Crown furnishing purchases. And the houses aren't storage--you can place furnishings in them, but if you ever want to redecorate (and who wouldn't?), you have to store the furnishings somewhere.

Housing desperately needs a craftbag-like storage system--tie it to the individual home so decorators can put things in it or place things from it. I have married couples in my guild that are really irked that they can't even give placement permissions to each other. Make it easier for us to make cool-looking things that will drive your marketing! $$

During ESO live the devs said they will not add anything for storage or a crafting-bag type inventory for furnishing items because 50% of players never upgraded their bag or bank space at all, not even once, so it's not needed.

They also said only 3% of people ever upgraded their bank/bags to max. That's the 3% giving you the most money ZOS.

Seriously? Does that 50% include people who created an account during free Steam weekends and haven't logged in a year? People's alts? All the banned and active bot accounts? TIL half the players are bots

But for real, they are using these numbers that clearly do not represent an active player base to make game decisions. Using this logic, you could say ZOS shouldn't add items to the Crown Store because only 3% of the active player base uses it (joking, but you see what I mean).

This reminds me of the time they calculated the "average" player had less than a hundred CP.
When in reality most players had much more.

Huh? Rich's numbers were rock solid on that. If your idea of "average" is the handful of people in your min/max Trials or PvP guild, of course it looks off the mark. If your idea of "average" is seeing a lot of familiar faces in PvP battles or at Undaunted Enclave, of course it looks off the mark. If your idea of "active" is being online multiple hours per night, of course it looks off the mark. But even among active players, the diehard players are a small faction. A common example in statistics is the counter at a diner. It seems like almost half the population of a diner are the retired guys at the counter who are there, chit-chatting about sports and politics and kids not getting off their lawn, all day long! Every time you go in diner, there they are! And at any given point in time, they are a huge proportion of diner population. But what about the casual customers in the booths, ordering a sandwich and some onion rings and leaving after 1 hour? And who only come in once per week?

Let's assume a 10 hour day, a counter than can hold 8 people and booths that can hold 12 people.

Number of unique people at counter over 10 hour period = 8
Number of unique people at booths over 10 hour period = 120

Number of unique people at counter over 7 day week = 8
Number of unique people at booths over 7 day week = 840

So the diehard diner customers make up about 8 / 840 = 0.95% of total customer population. They are probably some of the best customers and spend more money than average customer. But they are a distinct minority among total people who eat at diner.

You cannot just take a snapshot or go off familiar names. Yeah, there are some players who log a lot of hours. But the rest of the "forgettable" players are cycling in and out constantly. And the hordes of "forgettable" players are putting in much more hours, combined, than the diehard players.

    ...

I keep trying to come up with words for this, but I can't.

My bank space is maxed out, and while I have not maxed the bag space on any of my 8 characters yet, they all have all 60 inventory upgrades purchased for their horses, and I have several characters that I can't actually play at all because of the state of their inventory.

My main character lives with 60 free spaces for questing and such, with the other 130+ taken up with potions and alternative set options in case I need to swap gear to accommodate the group and the other healer.

I have a crafting bag, and I do my best to clean up my inventory on a regular basis, frequently deconstructing things that I wish I could keep for alts but I don't have room and they are stuck being mules anyway so it doesn't seem to matter.

Do these people even want me to play this game? I feel very unwelcome.

How many of those unupgraded accounts are alts to reach the 10 required to get a guild bank, to solve this storage issue?
How many have progressed past level 1?
How many have actually logged in at least once over the last three months?
Why be normal when you can be better?

I only have maxed out bags on one of my 8 characters because it would cost a fortune in gold to max them all out - the purpose of the other 7 characters was to increase my bag space without having to spend all the gold.

ZoS has not thought this out or are just coming up with an excuse

Say what?! I've maxed out bags on all 9 alts. My combined alts are worth almost 10 million gold. My newest alt was created 1/1. Using only the gold earned by playing and some guild store sales, I maxed the bags in about 10 days. What else is there to spend gold on? Still working on mount capacity, obviously, but that extra bag space already pays for itself, since it lets me steal more. That new alt has over 250k gold after maxing out bags in 27 days. It'll take me a little more than a month to steal a million. I challenge the idea that it costs too much to max bags, or that it's somehow a waste of gold. Gold is so easy to earn in the game, and there is really very little you can do with it. If you subscribe to the statement above, I suggest you evaluate what you do with gold, and maybe learn how to get more of it.

They seem to think that only people who have already maxed out their storage options will be looking for more storage. I'd say that's only true if they intended to make their housing storage options even more expensive than their most expensive bag or bank upgrades.

I think thats the assumption tho and its 1500 crowns per extra so I assume for ZOS, it makes sense.
Odd tho that bank and inventory upgrades are 1000 crowns per instead of 100 to 200 as a new alts gives 60 slots not 10.

    @NewBlacksmurf

Nope... They said it on ESO live... That they wont stack... They were considering a furniture bag much like the crafting bag but for a future release.... And they implied that storage wont ever come to housing or any functional items... Only cosmetic.. besides crafting and skelly target practice.... Yea i know ... It took me some time to digest

    @Mitoice

Not everyone has been playing for the same length of time you have and not everyone has a spare 250k gold just buring a hole in their virtual pocket. I initially played this game on Xbox for around a year and I struggled to make any great amount of gold because I didn't have much idea how to, nor was I really bothered about making a ton of gold. However, after a year hiatus I returned on the PS4 and made a lot of gold very quickly because this time, I actually knew what i was doing.

I can only speak for myself, but I wasted a lot of gold on stuff first time around I now know was useless. For example, when i began levelling up enchanting on the xbox, I had already sold a ton of glyphs as and when i had been finding them so sank a lot of gold into buying a ton to level it up quicker when I hit vet 16. This time around, I knew to break them down as and when i found them rather than sell them to a trash vendor. Same goes for ingredients and alchemy reagents. I knew to pick them all up from the off this time. So I no longer needed to sink thousands of gold into levelling up my alchemy and being able to make potions. I was also buying rubbish sets for over the odds from guild stores rather than crafting my gear as I hadn't been paying much attention to levelling my crafting when I was on xbox.

I think we all forget how much we ourselves overlooked when we were new to the game. There's a reason why returning players can accumulate vast amounts quickly and new NEW player don't/can't.

For a change, I completely agree with ZOS - if only 3% of players maxed out their storage it means no need to simply increase storage. If you have not maxed it means you don't want storage, you want FREE storage - which is completely different requirement, and honestly I don't see why it has to be fulfilled.

Another story is additional storage you pay for, I'd really would like to be able to craft wardrobe/weapon rack with crafting price similar or even higher than target dummy.
