This is pretty much a common event for me and my friends any time one of us idles. It's a success if you can go AFK anywhere and come back alive.
As for your situation, it sucks but not sure it's worth an entire forums thread of rage. Say a bad word aloud then revive and go back to what you were doing.
Also OP I feel for completion of this thread we should know the flavour of the soup, well at least I want to know...
2. People show more respect for each other.

Yeah, basically you'll meet a lot of people in the game that don't give a rat's ass whether they ninja that node/chest you're attempting to clear enemies from, they also don't give a flying one about annoying others as your very own example shows.
If I see some sucker clearing enemies from nodes or chests, I just run in there myself because in my vast experience playing the game and being on the receiving end of it, the chances are, they'd not think twice about doing it to me. Once you become them, it all becomes water off a duck's back. I still don't stoop low enough that I take the time out to mock them further by using the laughing emote which a lot of people love to do. I just move on. If they ninja the next node/chest, then fair play to them.

At which point I use major expedition and streak to follow you and jack your farming for an hour or till you teleport away

I'll never stoop to that level, but I'm not surprised if someone else does it.
I would not even know how to misdirect a mob, most likely the mProf_Bawbag wrote: »I learned a long time ago that these forums are not a true representation of a large number of people in-game. Content of post and signature does not compute (?).
Anyways, I'll never stoop to that level intentionally but I don't care anymore about other people doing it to me. If I am "farming" I watch which way that player goes and find another route, otherwise I just carry on.
If I see someone AFK getting attacked by a mob I usually just kill the mob, can't help myself, but I don't stick around to protect you.
If I run past someone (with mobs in tow) and the mobs leash back they won't aggro, at least they never aggro me.

I only began being an ass wipe myself in-game a month or 2 ago. Like i said, I have created threads in the past complaining about all the tactics others use and the lack of decency on show. Some will see it from your pov, others will just tell you it's fair game. I switched to the fair game side of things and it really is a game changer as far as not getting your Daisy Dukes in a twist over the actions of others is concerned.
I even spent a good while testing it. I would wait next to an enemy in upper Craglorn where there was nodes within their aggro zone and i wouldn't engage until I saw another player close enough to see what I was about to do. Without fail every single one of them ninja'd the node.
That's the people you're dealing with in-game.

Thank you AOE Daedroth! A pile of scrub bananas dead on the ground = win
^This. 100% this.FWIW you can't misdirect a mob on someone else. The only way you can get aggro is if you are in their aggro range and not stealthed, or you hit it when someone else had it near by. If they ran past so far that the mobs leashed back to their spawn location they wont aggro on anyone along the way until they get "home" (even if you try to hit them) at which point aggro opens up again and can aggro on anyone within their aggro range.
So one of a couple possibilities.
OP was standing too close to a spawn point. Not other players fault.
OP was standing too close to a spawn point where some other player was engaged in the fight. Mob cast some sort of aoe ability that hit OP and OPs armor proc'd a damage skill that hit the target. Not other player's fault.
OP should have AFK'd somewhere else.
