With so many bad ideas circulating on the forums atm and pointless threads I thought I would bump this .....

We got a buff, and a very good one: Range increase on Impale -> 28m instead of 18l

Whats the point of that? I never find myself out of range when impaling....

So that MagBlades can now execute from the same distance as Mag Sorcs and Temps, making us a little better as ranged casters

That's cool and all but all I see this doing is laying way to a future nerf to impale....

My reasoning being that now people might be able to impale off the top of keeps with this extra range. I could be wrong.

Soon you will see the nerf impale threads if this goes live. Like I said pvp is the reason mag nb getting nerfed so hard in pve and this isn't even necessary I have never found myself not close enough to do an impale. In fact I use to even think the range of impale was a little ridiculous how far it reaches.

Played mag nb as my main since launch. Put all my effort and achievements into her, crafting etc.

I've retired her now and all she does is craft. It's just wet noodle compared to any other class mag build wise. Going to use my Templar and dk instead and learn2sorc.

    - Agony: increase the damage by at least 100% on the Prolonged Suffering morph and get rid of the CC; keep the CC on the other morph

    - Summon Shade: increase damage by 50-100% and make one of the morphs a DPS only morph

    - Death Stroke / Consuming Darkness: turn one of the morphs into a ranged ultimate for Magicka users

    - Grim Focus: give one of the morphs an additional effect - when the target suffers from Cripple / Agony damage over time effects consume them and deal additional damage

I love the CC on Agony as it is awesome for harassing noobs in PVP if I could apply it to multiple targets that would be preferred.

Summon Shade? If they can't make sorc pets meta they won't be able to do it with this skill

No range ultimate is definitely a problem! It's like we are forced into using the Mage/Destro ult, glad we have destro ult now though so we don't need to get lvl 10 mage guild

    Grim focus needs a buff?!?!

Also I see the increase cost on strife as understandable, it's not something meant to be spammed but I would of instead preferred a damage reduction mixed with a healing percentage increase.

Magblades are probably the worst class to play in open world. Try to imagine that you aren't a bomb build -- and then compare Magblade to every other class.

Yes you are forced to use heavy armor and crappy mist form. Or you will get pinned down without a chance to defend yourself

I still manage in light armor using melee. I can kill 1 vs 1 and sometimes of course die. If a group attacks me im dead and can just leave the keyboard and get coffee since as said above here you are pinned down and can't move or anything (in contrast what many 1 vs X'ers make you believe in their video's. They never seem to get pinned down and unable to move)

At least in Light armor I don't have to worry about which trait. I just go full mundus or infused. If I use full impenetrable I still die in 1 second with 22-24k health.

Still, magblade is great fun. I also wanted a buff, but now I don't even want it. I have seen a few bombblades using: magicka deto + sap essence + destro ulti and vicious death set. They wreak havoc in castle defend/siege.

they only dead part of magblades are melee magblades. Only a few left, including me. If we get buffed, the first moment we log in there will be nerf threats anyway. Why bother.

The people who say magblade's are fine seem to be the people in cyrodiil. I play a magblade and I'm mostly in pve. It sucks. I wish we were stronger.

Mageblade has an amazingly fun kiting playstyle. The issue with that is, zerglings are more scared than ever so instead of kiting 4 or 5 players you can string out, kill, disengage with, then find other targets you end up pulling 30 people spamming cloak counters and you either disengage or yolo and get a kill or two before you get zerged

I would be fine with my magblade if only cloak would work as intended...

Of course, you can't hope to play the tank with a magblade in light armor. It's a different playstyle. You have to study the circumstances from distance, select the proper target (= not the blazing templar with 70k health...), have your ultimate ready for a devasting combo, and be ready to use fear and cloak away if the situation go bad.

Just remember you are not a tank and don't pretend to be one, and you will live long and prosper (if cloak works...).

tbh, if you're building around 5 necro + 2 pirate, you actually have some leeway to behave like a tank, that 14k dampen shield is effectively 18.2k(and can't be crit), or almost as high as a 40k magika sorc would get from stacking hardened+harness and it comes from a single button press.

There's also heavy armor HoT builds for mageblade that retain a lesser amount of burst than the light armor setups but actually become pretty tanky with all their incoming heals going off.

Thats weird because i PvE i can almost solo everything as a magblade. Not the veteran dungeons and trials though.

They're not competitive in trials or dungeons. Magblade seems to be the lowest DPS spec in game right now.

    - Cripple: increase the duration of Crippling Grasp to 10 or 12 seconds and increase the initial damage

Only do this if all DoTs are changed to 12 seconds... I like the fact that Cripple is 8 seconds and matches up with Blockade.

I would rather change Twisting Path to 16 seconds so it lines up better with the rest of the rotation.
