I like the crazy singing khajiit of MoL, but aside from that the mechanics of the non-boss parts of MoL and Sanctum are basically just "stick a bunch of mobs in the way while you walk around a big place." Hel Ra has some mechanics but for the most part they're annoying. The oils are nice and as a PvPer always make me nervous just hearing them, but they're over an inconsequential fight. The split mechanism is interesting but doesn't really amount to much. Same with MoL's ERP room, which I simply won't do anymore because of lag. Hel Ra hardmode is actually pretty interesting but the normal fight isn't, but it's strange to see how many people are completely and utterly unable to keep an eye out for giant red areas, whereas the cleave telegraph is not necessarily something easy to see from range while 11 other people are spamming particle effects all over the place so I feel bad for people getting wiped by that.

Whereas every encounter in AA is at least something well thought out. Those yellow buff spots no one uses while running through lightning. The damage pulse if adds aren't taken down. The insanity of trying to see the yellow circle in hardmode. Chain lightning and axes and ever-expanding voids of darkness. Craziness. Similar mechanics rehashed in MoL just seem to be there to *** off the poor tanks. LoS columns for no particular reason. Twins are irritating in easy more or hard. Debuff-removal pads recycled from other irritating dungeons - whereas getting dropped from the sky was actually very cool and disconcerting, running to the debuff-removal glyph while fire circles spawn all over - and recycled machine-gun that no DPS can easily see. I do like all four, but overall AA was done the best.

I love maw but I only recently started being able to get scores in there. Working on the time achievement. When I stop being terrified, maybe I can breathe and enjoy it.

For now, AA. The aesthetics are great and I like the thought it takes to split the team into 3 parts. The worst part about AA is the requirement for 12 people- you're always one DC away from waiting for someone to relog.

Maw. Mainly because of the Twin Fights and the Achievements. Like void avoided and the curse thing.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno
Why does Hel Ra, Sanctum and AA have no "no death" achievement? ^^

    Make it happen ^^

Incredible design and very cool mechanics. I'd be extremely surprised if ZOS found room to raise the bar even higher for Trial 5.

Heal Ra, lol. But I've only done Hel Ra and Sanctum, and I hate enemies that do Poison AoE attacks, just creates too much chaos.

What an architecture of Sanctum, deep down inside a massive structure!

I like HRC, both for its design and its simplicity. Short, but still keeping some interesting mecanics. You are assaulting a fort, and the enemy types and placements largely reflect that.

AA is a close second just for set design. SO I find the most boring of the trials, in the middle the tunnels start to all look the same. MOL and SO also tend to just throw the same packs of enemies at you an busy work between boss rooms where the process is to just prioritize the most annoying caster in the bunch. MOL does have the more developed boss mechanics, but it can be a bit much for first timers.

Imo Maw is the best in terms of both game design and visuals.
And the music is quite nice, too!

vDSA for sure. Many different fights, a cool atmosphere, and Hiath is a funny guy. After that, vAA is the coolest, followed by vMoL.

    From a tank perspective:

    AA hm: sustain test
    HRC hm: mitigation test
SO hm: definition of a STD
Maw: actually interesting mechanics where doing 1 thing wrong can compromise the raid
    (Haven't done hm maw)

In terms of the trials style, I'd definitely say Hel Ra. The whole idea of teams having to split up and take different routes to storm a fortress is awesome. Pulling levers to open gates for the other group and destroying siege weapons that are raining down fire on them makes it feel really epic whilst still feeling realistic. The only reason I didn't choose HRC is that only the 'right door' team really get to experience this, those on the left just get trapped in repetitive fights until the other team gets to a switch and most of the boss fights are pretty uninteresting (one is simply tedious). If both teams got to do stuff to help the other progress, and the fights were more varied it would be perfect imo.

Maw on the other hand, whilst having a really cool style, feels really linear in comparison. Like AA, it doesn't really feel like as much of an adventure, it's just rolling from fight, to fight, to fight. However, the fights, especially the boss fights are REALLY well though out, really good fun and really challenging. It fixes a lot of the problems that the craglorn trials had where you could just stack up and heal through a lot of the mechanics and makes you really have to coordinate.

My only hope is that the next trial does something to disincentivise simply stacking adds up under a boss and AOE-ing everything down. If there was a boss where all the adds intentionally tried to cluster up, and massively decreased their damage received when they were stood together (like when you're attacking the wrong colour twin in MoL) it would encourage a lot of new play styles in trials. Having to repeatedly chain maybe 4 mini bosses appart and burn them down individually so that their power and survivability goes through the roof. Mix things up so one fight needs massive single target damage and the next needs lots of AoE so a variety of builds are needed.

    Sanctum
I think Sanctum is the best looking trial. Sadly is also happens to be the worst designed trial, with such brilliant fights as the Troll Boss that just kills people without any other counter than using all damage reductions in the world and praying for good RNG, the Lamia Boss where the only way to beat it is to do an exploit where you drag 3 of the 4 elite adds out of the room, and lastly the Serpent where the original mechanics are now completely distorted since lamias no longer oneshot totems and the fact that you can ignore all mechanics except pink bubbles... But yeah, the details in all the rooms, setting, lighting, and such are amazing.

Mechanics wise I prefer Maw, since it wasn't a *** spaghetti bowl of stupid decisions like SO.

I voted 'other' because I really do enjoy them all in a different way.
vMol is the most challenging, especially with Hard Mode
vSO is the most beautiful place in the game, mantikora's cavern is just epic et I find all boss to be really well designed and interesting
vAA is intense with cool mechanics
vHRC is my least favorite because of the RNG on last boss
vDSA is a really cool place aswell, I find it even harder to be competitive cause every second is crucial if you aim for Leaderboard
I got bored of vMSA after 500+ runs mostly because I've farmed it too much
