You want to cast your sweeps or rapid strikes and not be able to block an incoming stun, because you cant stop? Because that would be the consequence of this change.
The thieves guild patch pts version, where you couldn't block cast felt like a totally different and bad combat.
Animation canceling is one reason why this games combat is so good!

Timing is key. Animations shouldn't be cancelable. This is actually killing pvp for casual players.
There is a very big diferrence between weaving and being able to hit 4 or 5 skills in the time it would take 2 to fully animate.
This is not street fighter, clipping combos and all the othe b.s. that comes with it should stay in that genre.

To do this, you'll need more than animation cancelling and also more than macros. There's so much misinformaion in such threads....
There are also skills/mechanics which allow you to do 4...5 hits in 2 seconds without any Cheats or whatever. People also forget, that their is a general cooldown for skills, weapon attacks (light/heavy) and ults you cannot bypass with ac/macros...

No you dont. Open with wrecking blow, light attack, wrecking blow, bash, light attack in the same time it would take to fully cast 2 wrecking blows.
Thats 5 hits in the span of 2.
Ambush incap bash swap l.a., fully cancelled poison injection.
Not sure why people try to deny this so hard
[thats 2 wrecking Blows in the time of 2 wrecking Blows. Bash and light attack are instant.
And thats still 2 skills in the time for 2 skills and Not 4 skills like you stated above

If you don't want to learn to cancel spam this like jabs and wrecking blow.
Taking away the damage done by a cancelled animation or applying a damage penalty for cancelling an animation would not ruin responsiveness of combat. The responsiveness remains the same, the time to kill would be longer and the game would require more actual "skill" with reactions to combat as it appears on the screen.
From a mag sorc perspective, I cant really see how anything other than LA weaving effectively adds more dps. The skills operate on 1 sec global cool dows, so it seems even if you block cancel an ability the next ability is still going to fire at the same time as if you hadn't block cancelled. Sure, the skill will hit slightly sooner, but I think the animation is included in the 1 sec cool down, so whether the skill fires at 0.3 or 0.5 sec doesn't make a difference to when the next skill will activate. Can someone confirm or discomfort this?
