Does housing contain loot containers like other ESO games?

I'm at work and don't have the time to browse through all the posts about housing. Do you get loot chests to put items into it, I'm talking about armor, weapons, crafting materials etc.

Thanks!

@lardvader Thank you for the information. For me, that was one of the biggest perks in the previous games. I loved having the equipment hanging about with armor on the full figures. It kind of takes the air out of even buying a home for me I think. We'll have to see how it all works out after it's released next month.

The lack of functional housing features its whats keeping me from buying a big house, for example storing loot items or building a functional.gwrden where i can get columbine... or motivation to spend tons of hours decorating one... ill probably buy a small house and put some random stuff,

@Mitoice I hear you there. It will be mainly for those with tons of time and gold and love to decorate. Oh well, it was a nice idea anyway, just doesn't seem all that practical.

I have to say I am finding it hard to understand why they wouldn't have added some form of storage to the housing.

But then Zenimax have always wanted to be different to other MMORPGs, its just that sometimes I think they forget that "different" can also be wrong.

Given there is no Alchemy Hireling and so Alchemy is already slight disadvantaged when compared to other gathering abilities it would make perfect sense to have a Garden in our Homestead that we can use to gather plants.

Wildstar does this brilliantly IMO, and it is something Zeni needs to look at, in Wildstar it is possible to add a different "plots" that allow you to gather all the different crafting mats, once unlocked they require a periodic subscription of gold - another useful way of adding a gold sink to the game.

I love the idea of housing and I have really enjoyed decorating my houses in past games, but the problem that you have here in ESO is a lack of purpose for others to visit and bask in your decorating skills.

I like the attuned crafting station concept as well as the training dummy which is why I will be buying a modest home, but without any reason for someone to visit I seriously doubt I will furnish it at all. They neglected the one thing that was needed for housing - PURPOSE

The way that this was done seems like this is a very single player concept for an MMO. As far as I can tell, there is no reason for another player to ever enter my home other than for RP - and that is something I very rarely do.

Housing was the main way that ESO was going to reignite my excitement for the game and cause me to keep playing. Sadly I'm not sure that this implementation will get that done. With 8 maxed characters I really needed something that would occupy my time and I'm not sure that this will make the cut.

This is the problem I'm having with housing too. The basic idea is ok, the houses and locations are nice, I'm actually happy with the range of gold prices and the decorating tool is great. But the whole thing seems a bit pointless.

In other TES games my house was primarily a place to store stuff I didn't want to carry with me. Sometimes that was practical - like valuable items I lacked the speechcraft/mercantile skill to sell. Sometimes it was just things I wanted to hang onto like interesting books (or long series I wanted to read in order - in every game I collect A Dance in Fire and The Wolf Queen) or interesting items I'd picked up. On more than one occasion I left weapons and armour I could have sold in a dungeon in favour of bringing back some random object I wanted in my house.

But in ESO we can only place designated furniture items. Some of these you can only buy after completing specific quests or achievements and they're related to that achievement, so they're sort of similar. But it's still not the same to me. In another topic I described it as the difference between going to the beach and finding a cool shell to take home and going to the beach, finding a cool shell and being told you're not allowed to take it but you can buy a different shell from the gift shop.

It means housing is a lot less appealing to me. I can't see myself spending a lot of time in my house, I'll probably only go back when I have new decorations to add.

Totally agree. Housing looks really exciting, but as soon as you realise what a grind it is going to be for no actual benefit it just seems pointless.

I downloaded the PTS and was bored within 45 minutes. Tried it again today and had about an hour of fun making a forest, a cave, a functional library and a marketplace... Then I realised I would never use any of these things because it will almost always be better to go back to a town.

I believe (I hope I am wrong) attunable crafting stations, target skeletons and (possibly) respec shrines are the only functionality that housing adds. Fortunately they will fit into a very small property.

I'm expecting all the useful options like storage and display to be added later, available through the crown store and maybe a time intensive RNG in-game method.

Oh yes, I hope for gardening too! (And I played a little bit of Wildstar, agree the gardening was fun. Same for Skyrim Hearthfire, or with mods.) A great reason to visit the house. I guess many MMO devs don`t want easily obtainable craft stations (like in ESO currently on PTS they seem extremely hard/expensive to get) for fear of less lively cities; gardening would add to house utility without "taking" from reasons to go to town.
And yes indeed I agree about the alchemy part too!
I hope some sort of storage will be added soon if they cant do it for launch.

Yeah, not much point to housing except attuned crafting stations and training dummies. But some people like to show off their decorating skills and maybe invite their friends to RP, I guess. More power to them.

For me personally though, I'm certainly not going to be spending any Crowns on any of those bigger houses unless they serve some actual purpose. ZOS should, at the very least, make the banker and merchant fully-functional when they're in a house.

This has basically saved me over 2m in-game gold. The houses in a practical sense are useless in their current state other than the dummy.

Strictly speaking, yes. Stuff like barrels, sacks, crafting nodes, chests, even the dolmen reward chests are available. But, to the best of my knowledge, they're all non-intractable. You can stick a cluster of ore in your front yard, but you can't actually do anything with it.

From the comments here and around the forums, ZOS is leaving the best things out of the home update. No armor mannequins, or weapon display cases, no farmable land for alchemy supplies. You can decorate the {snip} out of your home but can interact with very little from the sounds of it. Those are the main reasons I owned property in the other ES games I played. I can't really see much point in spending any gold or crowns on homes in ESO....at least at this point.

And no, I haven't tested this on the PTS. Between work, the new house we got less than a month ago, I barely have time to log on to keep my trade guilds updated.

If you have the banker assistant, you can park him in your home and get access to storage that way.

In a way, I hate to even entertain the thought, but do you think it'd ever be a possibility that they'd give storage/mannequin type stuff to subs or put it in the crown store? As it is now, you can pay crowns for additional storage or a banker. However, bank space and the banker have a gold and time alternative, respectively.

Just food for thought I guess.

I'm sure they will try and add Storage and Mannequins - just so they can monetise them via the Crown Store.

There's one problem with that though, if they don't give us a "taster" for free we'll just adapt and learn to do without those things.

If Storage / Mannequins / Weapon Racks are already in the pipeline as a Crown Store Extra they need to be giving us, totally for free, a limited number of slots when Homesteads launch.

    10 Storage.
    2 Mannequins.
    2 Weapon Racks

Should do for a start, that way we'll start using them straight away, soon run out of room for what we want to do, and so when they add them to the Crown Store they'll sell like crazy.

Sure, there will be some people who learn to make do with just the freebies, but the majority of those people were never going to buy such things from the Crown Store anyway, so they will not constitute a major revenue loss.

If there were PvE benefits like those in Wildstar or BDO I'd be more interested. Some people really like decorating, and that is cool. It's just not for me.

But I'm sure Housing will evolve over time. Maybe in the future it will be more enticing.

imo they don't want to lose the $$ they get for crafting bags (subs) and bank space.
Those bottomless chests from the ESO games would be an issue in that regard.

A good solution would be to sell (or give) a single fashion dummy that allows you to save 1 complete set of gear, or those Weapon Display things that they had to save two swords or whatever.

That would be cool & keep folks coming back for more.

No containers so to speak aren't in the update but it seems they did look at something like this and it was already said that storage or containers were not added due to resources. That could mean their team, time, as well as the game itself....

Its not cause they want to.....
its literally at this point due to some type of resources....take that as it was written and be careful to assume otherwise cause we were not lead with any more. Maybe ESO Live this Friday will touch on it as its about update 3 specifically the housing piece and will have a FAQ section

    FYI
The is the only ESO game to ever exist.
Also Bethesda not to be confused with Zenimax Online was the developer of TES games which are single player and very different intentions
