They want 1000 Crowns for a mesh made with minimal effort. It's hilarious! The Squid Beard uses the Handlebar Mustache. They couldn't even do 100% new mesh for the limited release...
I know pricing and value are very subjective, and much of mine is based on the amount of work that went into something... but this, to me, is just silly. I want whatever the marketing department is on, because that must be some good skooma.

✭Why do you expect them to reinvent the wheel, when the handlebar mustache works perfectly with the curly style of the beard?
It sounds like the price is based on desirability. Flashy, unique facial hair only in the store for a weekend = Highly Desirable. It's up to each buyer to decide for themselves whether it's worth the price tag.
What I'm saying is "Hornswoggled" is a bit of an exaggeration, no matter how perfectly that word choice matches the tone of that beard.

To be fair, though, you had the ability to preview it, so you could just choose to not spend your crowns. I thought 4500 crowns for the elk was beyond ridiculous, so passed on it - shame, because I wanted it, but I can live without it.4 -

This exactly. I wanted it for my Nord DK but 32.73 real world dollars for a mount is really unnecessary.
I too am having no problems living without it.
Edit: My math was a little off.
Even at the best crown sale price, $21.27 is still OP.

✭✭✭✭I didn't actually buy it. I was just looking forward to it for it's time on PTS, and found it's release to be comical. I don't expect them to reinvent the wheel every time, but I do wish they would be a bit more reasonable.
I was also looking forward to the Elk mount, I have a character named The Monarch Elk. Sadly there is no cool animations, or even additional pieces for the mount upgrades. Like others, I felt it wasn't a 4500 crown value and have lost nothing by not picking it up. The Squid Beard will fall into that same category.
The title was just to have something fun and not overly serious, denoting an overtone for the thread.1 -
MyrkrSoul ShrivenIt'd be nice if the prices of all cash shop things dropped, yet people pay for them so any company wouldn't change. Unfortunately, Z tends to have a few more problems as a company than other companies I'm used to...not that they were angels. Money grubbing is not a trait I like to see in a company for a game that requires a subscription to be virtually playable (craft mat bags, that are currently broken). Hair and facial hair of the quality in the cash shop should be included in an in-game barber for gold. If it sparkles or has an aura, then cash shop makes sense.0 -
