Moondancer - how it works

Well, i'm thinking about farming moondancer, and since i don't have it i want to make sure if it works as intended or i should spend my time in something else than farming this set.

Following question:
the 5 piece bonus:
"When you activate a synergy, you gain a shadow blessing that increases your Spell Damage by 448 or a lunar blessing that increases your Magicka Recovery by 448 for 30 seconds. You can only have one blessing active at a time."

Let's say i run 4 piece moondancer on one bar and 5 piece on the other. And i'm on the 5 piece bar and activate a synergy.
Now what happens if i swap to the 4 piece bar? Do i lose this "blessing" or does it stay?

    It stays for the duration. In the case you get magicka reg but you want the spell dmg you can grab another synergy and get a new chance for the spell dmg buff, that will overwrite the old buff.

    But it can happen that you get douple time the reg buff. In longer fights the uptime of boths will be ~50%, maybee a bit more reg uptime. But hunting just for the sp buff when you have it in backbar will drop down your damage.

    Keep in mind, Moondancer is great even if you get regen. Instead of "hunting" for the spell damage proc, keep the regen. The sustain is great too.

    If in a trial, people are usually spamming many synergy abilities like healing orbs, shards (usually for tank so I wouldn't take it), talons on mobs, purify synergy from the templar ritual, dk standard, etc.

    In trials you should have no end of synergies to choose from, constant streams of both gold and blue balls, ulty's, shards etc.

    I will give you my 2 cents on moondancer: Best In Slot on paper, horribly frustrating to use in practice.

    I gave this a go in trials for a while. I was running a double staff build where I had 5 BSW on my front bar, and 5 Moondancer on my back bar. The self buffed spell damage I could get was insane when both of these proc'ed at the same time. I dont remember exactly what it was, but it was the highest I had ever seen.

    To answer your question, yes you can just have the 5 piece on one bar and it will carry over if you activate a synergy on that bar. The problem, like so many things with ZOS, is that it is all based on the almighty RNG. There were fights where I would literally get the regen buff 8-10 times in a row. You end up stuck on your back bar trying to look for a synergy and forget to actually be doing damage on your front bar. I also found that in my particular build, only having BSW on one bar killed that uptime as well.

    Remember that once you cast a specific synergy, there is a cooldown until you can cast it again. There was a lot of "I need bubbles, Crap, I need shards, Crap, I need the other bubbles" going on in teamspeak. It might seem like you would have no list of synergies to choose from, but that is different than having them when you need them. Most rotations only have you on your back bar for 2 seconds at most, and more often than not, this time would wildly increase as I looked for a synergy to use. Couple this with the fact that synergy use is one of the buggiest things in the game, and I couldnt get rid of this fast enough.

    Now a 4 piece moondancer on your front bar will likely be BIS for most magic builds next patch.

    Edit: Only way I would run moondancer 5-piece is in PVP, where the Regen buff is just as good as the damage buff, or if I was running DW on my front bar with Moondancer, so I had a lot more flexibility as to win I could hit synergies. Trying to do it on your back bar is just a nightmare from a rotation standpoint.

    Edit 2: Also remember that moondancer weapons in good traits are kind of like finding a unicorn. We have been clearing vet MOL 3-5 times a week for months. I have seen 2 sharp inferno staffs drop i think. Never seen a sharp sword or sharp lighting staff for our whole raid.

    Awesome set, I pair it with Molag Kena and Burning Spellweave, get two sharpen Moondancer swords on back bar, one sharpen BSW inferno on main bar you will get really high spelldamage OR enough sustain for powering Keena proc, works awesome on magblade and sorcerer, but you will depend from synergy.

    Good in pair with templar healer with Twilight Remedy set from same trial dungeon, such healer can provide minor force, powerfull HOT heal and several synergy to proc set, Mystic Orbs, Luminous Shards, Extended Ritual, Solar Prison.
