Mages Wrath Damage Scaling

So with the new destro passives, I'm at a loss for which type of staff would benefit mages wrath more. I know that technically it is a single target execute, but it does have an aoe component to it. Has anyone tested this?

Curse damage on the target you use it is single damage and boosted by fire staff. Curse aoe who hit nearby target is aoe and boosted by thunder staff.
Same with mage wrath, only the aoe part who hit every target but the targeted one is boosted by lightning. And for force pulse's additional damage to burned, chilled or concussed nearby target.

It's really depend of what do you want, more single damage or more aoe one. With the high utility of aoe in dungeons and raids (and destro ulti, negate, the new elemental ring and other anti-group tool in pvp), lightning staff isn't dead yet.

if youre just using the skill it wont matter
the effect is on light attacks
fire doing more damage and inferno doing aoe

in pvp i suggest lightning for implosion, in pve it depends on the situation, typically inferno is better cuz your focusing on executing one enemy (this will not necessary get you the highest dps numbers due to ads but it will get the highest single target dmg)

Is that confirmed @Lashiing that the 8% extra damage on an inferno is only on light attacks?

Surely its weopon skills as well if not all skills whilst on that bar?

depends which passive your talking about
    copy and pasted for you

Ancient Knowledge: This passive ability no longer decreases the cast time of your Destruction Staff Heavy Attacks by 5/10%. Instead, it grants you a bonus as long as you have one Destruction Staff ability slotted. This bonus depends on your staff type:
Flame Staves: Increases your single-target damage dealt by 4/8%.
Frost Staves: Increases the amount of damage you Block by 10/20%, and reduces the cost of Block by 15/30%.
Lightning Staves: Increases your Area of Effect damage dealt by 4/8%.

All singeltarget skills (pure singletarget skills)

So basically frags, curse, mage's fury, shock aka all the sorcs dps abilities. I like, time to gear up the good old mag sorc.

yep, magsorc is predicted to be top next patch
question is fire/fire or fire/lightning since ilambris isnt gonna double proc anymore
im leaning towards double fire to keep bsw up longer but havent tested yet

Curse is an aoe ability, and it gets buffed by lightning staff passive. My concern is the mages wrath ability, specifically. I forgot to test that, and will not be able to do so for a while.

Wrath is buffed by Inferno, while the splash damage is buffed by Lightning.
    Same with Curse.

So, with force pulse unreflectable, and a 8% increase with a fire staff to frag, curse, force pulse, light and heavy attacks (don't forget theze are tons of more damage against vampire), there is no reason to play Lightning staff exept for the implosion and undogeable heavy Attack ?!

    Lightning EotS.
    Vicious death explosions.
    Mages wrath explosions.
    Grothdar and infernal guardian procs.
    Pulsar.
The AOE component of curse explosions?
    Lightning heavy attacks.
The soul explosion thing when you hit low health.

    It's actually pretty amazing.
