New BiS for mag NB?

Hey all,
I was just wondering if the BiS will change for a mag NB when Housing patch hits. If so, what new gear should I be farming for now? I would assume I am going to need a lightning staff to go along with my fire one, but am unsure about the gear changes.

I am no theorycrafter, so I would appreciate any heads up you could give me.

Thanks!

The BIS still seems to be to crawl back into your grave until ZOS decides to res us. While the buff they gave us is nice, strife needed a buff, not a nerf.

Sorry if this wasn't exactly what you were asking for, but I just feel quite strongly about this issue. Also, lightning staff will probably be used with path, I would assume, if that helps.

Yeah, I would assume it would be used with wall of elements too, and maybe some other dots. I can see my rotation being confusing for a while. :( What a mess this is gonna be lol.

not really, only change i would say strife needs is either 1. fix whatever stops the heal from healign for 25% of critical hits, or 2. make the heal flat value of strife to be the following formula (spell power x 1 + max magicka /10) / 4 every 2s.
    v160 spellsword (nightblade)
    v160 restoration archmage (Templar)
    v160 battlemage (sorcerer)
    v160 restoration archmage (Templar)
    v160 warrior (DragonKnight)
    v160 assassin (nightblade)
    v160 swordsman (sorcerer)
    v160 spellsword (nightblade)

Drop sets like scatching mage or burning spellweave will be BiS. Twice born will fall back behind julianos...

Monstersets like grothdarr or skoria (never our best friends on mageblade) will lose against 2x kena. When magicka support is not good enough for 2x kena then take 1x kena 1x iceheart...

    Jewerly 3x aether

    - staff msa fire
    - fire staff aether
maybe lightning on backbar possible, maybe dw backbar possible

lol why is everyone so gungho about kena when you have to light attack target a, do no ability, light attack target a again to proc kena. meaning 2s of every 8, you doing nothing but light attacks.

its still kena... its proccs on light attack - most singletarget skills (like force pulse) - light attack
    ZOS never fixed it

Nothing really changed for NB this patch to warrant much of a change in gear, other than TBS becoming useless, which can easily be replaced with Julianos or any of the numerous magic drop sets, like Spinner's, Scathing Mage or BSW.

If you use Fire+Shock staves, Illambris will probably still put in work for you.
I'm still of the mindset that Scathing Mage is better than BSW on a Magblade, just because it's much easier to maintain Scathing indefinitely on a Magblade due to Twisting Path but that is just my opinion. BSW is probably much easier to farm though and does offer a much higher Spell Damage increase so really it's up to you to decide which is better for your playstyle.
IA is still one of the best jewelry sets for Magic build for PvE and U13 doesn't really change this much. Moondancer and Willpower are still good alternatives as well.

Something I do want to add though is that with the changes to major and minor force, Magblade has become a shell of its former self and considering that they were already low end for basically everything, it really makes me question if a new level of thought needs to go into Magblade theory crafting. Should they just go abandon crit all together and go more into Raw Magic and Spell Damage? Should we be more DoT oriented than we've been? Or should we just all re-roll into Sorcs until an actual balance patch helps us out of our rut?

Regardless of the answer, I'm really not looking forward to waiting another year before NBs become viable in PvE.

I will use 5 Julianos 5 Mothers Sorrow and 1 Molag Kena.
Playing with 2 fire stafes in raids and 1 fire 1 shock in aoe situations.

    BIS will be 5 BSW 3 IA/WP 2 Kena and 1 MSA + 1 crafted staff.
Problem here is that the BIS combo isn't really BIS if you are a runner in MoL and only does slightly more damage.

My problem is I only have a precise MSA inferno staff and so the BIS combo does sightly less damage.

Skoria is actually not bad...had some self buffed parses with over 2k from it single target...

Why the hell it needed buff? It was best ability which you can spam almost without any investments into magicka sustain and get not that bad HoT, can't say that it needed nerf, but it may have cost increased when nightblade regen passive switched from stamina to stamina+magicka in IC times.

It needed a buff because nearly every magblade dps abandoned it for Force Pulse long before its newest nerf. It used to be great, but that is before they nerfed it several times.

From my understanding BIS is Burning Spell Weave, Infallible, Ilambris, VMA Staves.

Lightning on the AOE bar will probably be preferred, but honestly IDK without more testing...

You will still do Fire Blockade in a group with a Magi-DK because of engulfing, 20% more damage on burning, and more chances to proc BSW outweigh the buff you would get with a lightning staff.

    Regarding Nerfs and buffs...

The Twisting Path buff is welcomed and makes it "slotable", so I am happy about that.

The strife nerf has a little impact on solo builds and no impact on raid builds.

Until Merciless Resolve is fixed in some meaningful way Magiblades will probably be last in single target DPS in most situations.

I would also like to see the damage for Agony buffed and the duration extended to 8 seconds.

I wish the developers would change or add a ranged monster set that procs off of "Magic" damage... or perhaps change Scathing so it procs off all magic damage instead of crits since that is basically the Nightblade set anyway...
    Playing since beta...
