I'm actually honestly asking- I just don't understand the logic behind it.
When you PVE as a tank- the idea is to pull enemies closer so that your group can burn them down. I don't need to run away afterward.
When you PVP as a DD or tank- you can pull enemies toward you- but it's not like you can quickly execute them and run away. Am I supposed to put a DoT on them and sprint away? If I take the other morph- I pull myself closer to an enemy... why would I want to run away from someone I just pulled myself to?
Can anyone enlighten me on how major expedition is useful on chains?

It is because in PvP chains are very unreliable when you need them most (e.g. pulling someone out of a good group), and because the Devs know it, they added major expedition so that you can run to the target instead.
Just be happy you get something OP, Templars are still waiting for any kind of expedition in their class lines.
Also, FYI, this is getting buffed on PTS, I think it is now 8 seconds or something.
