Does anyone else want them to have active in game Game Masters? I wouldn't mind having a small ticker on my screen or in chat that says "So and so was banned for insert generic reason here". If a botter is reported the GM would port to player and watch them in invisible mode or if a player is being racist or harassing etc etc. Things like that. I've yet to see any players with the Zenimax logo in game.

Also, they could host random events to spice things up. But I highly doubt the servers could handle the traffic if it were to happen which is a completely different topic.

Yea, I'd like a bit more live in game monitoring, but I think there is too many people out there who will claim its too "big brother". I also think that, unfortunately, ZOS does not having the staffing to properly police the game

I agree on the monitoring part. However, I'm not in agreement with regards to hosting random event. I'm speaking of this on behalf of the RPers. I don't do it but a lot of my friends do, a GM hosting an event will be very much immersion breaking and only caters to casual and non-RPers.

Now you may say that they're among the minority and having to satisfy the whole population is impossible in this regard. I say no, simply because you can choose not to host any event in the first place like how it is in-game on this very minute I'm typing and that would not be imposing on anyone at all.

I agree, in that I'm not interested in being constantly told who has been banned, but I think it would be a good preventative measure to maybe have a forum section with "x number of people were banned in January for bottlng"

How so? Say a GM calls out in zone chat something like:

"Calling all adventurers! Monstrous spiders have infested the gate to Rivenspire, chasing out the soldiers! Duke Nathaniel has put out a call for brave souls to clear the fortification of this menace. Sir Languedoc is forming a party in the marketplace in Alcaire Castle for this purpose. The first 6 adventurers to prove their mettle by dueling Sir Languedoc and either defeating him or battling him to a draw (going toe-to-toe for a period of no less than 60 seconds) will be recruited. The hunting party will be richly rewarded by the Duke once the evil spiders have been slain!"

I mean, I wouldn't think something like that would be immersion breaking at all. And that was just off the top of my head.

Most GM's won't use there GM account when in game unless taking a serious issue serious "Moving everyone to a different zone" first hour of the game's launch, people got stuck in the starting building.
    or using /server to talk.
other then that, they are incognito playing on a different account's so they don't get bothered.

Things like monitoring in-game behaviour are probably easier for them to do without appearing in-game with a sign letting everyone know who they are.

Even if the people they're trying to watch don't leave or start acting like angels they'd probably be bombarded with whispers and people trying to get screenshots with them (that's what happens whenever a GM appears in other games I've played).

GMs used to appear in-game in the early days and mass-kick botters. I've been in delves when one has advised everyone who's a real player to step well away from him. Moments later those remaining next to him were kicked.

Of course, a lot of a GM's in-game involvement will be to monitor what reported players are up to, and in those circumstances they are likely to be invisible so as not to alert the players concerned. So just because we don't see GMs running around in-game I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they're never there. Doubtless they also pick up a lot of useful information when running their ordinary player accounts.

A lot of people, surprisingly, are against having in-game Game Masters constantly breathing down their necks, like, God forbid someone with authority would catch them exploiting or bad mouthing in chat...

But honestly I'm not one of them, I'd definitely feel better if ZOS had a presence in-game. It'd even be interesting if a Game Master had this boss-like character with 25 - 50 million health and a system message taunted us into trying to defeat them, and if we did we'd get some neat item and gold in the mail.

So you want people that are already probably actively monitoring the game to make it clear they are there like game prison guards or something?

You realize most of the people on this game are 18+ right?

ZOS ARE YOU THERE??? I HAVE SOMETHING TO REPORT!

    Absolutely Not,
i have played many mmo's where there was monitoring going on in both zone chat and also ingame and i hated it.
you would be muted for a few hours if you mispoke something that the dev did not like or even if you retold a joke you would get a 12 hr ban for spam.
it was rude, embarrassing, insulting, and down right wrong.
not only that but it removes you from the immersion of the game and makes you feel like looking over your shoulder on your every move and every word spoken, even in common chat.
'i rebuke this, and hope we Never see it in eso.

and that is perfect! im all for them being apart of the game and chat and guilds and events. but not as the hall monitor and most certainly not as a ingame cop.

    This ^

Had the pleasure to interact directly with a GM once, they fixed a character issue I had. Absolutely wonderful person, and very helpful and informative. I don't believe for a second there are "no GMs left", call me naive if you like.

there was a guy yelling in all caps in common chat about his hatred of Orc's a while back, he went on for a good 3 or 4 minutes with his hate speech and out of the blue he was just no more.
his voice and his character were just gone.
i tried to whisper him but it said "account not found"
i am certain he was he was probably banned for the day or something like that with a warning.
but that is private between that person and the dev.
those types of things is what is proper and no one knew what happened. i believe that has been zenimax's stand since launch and i support it to the fullest. and i hope it never changes.

I personally have never seen a GM in ESO. I played on and off from 1.0 up to 1.6 where I started playing frequently and have yet to see a single GM.
