Soloing Vet Spindleclutch 1

Last night I thought I'd try soloing Spindleclutch 1, though I didn't realise until the first boss that it was set to Veteran - but I decided to press on anyway.
Got to the Whisperer... and instakill about 5 seconds into the fight. One damage report was 3 x 14k, so my poor Templar with 17k health had no chance.

Now, I have done Spindle 1 on VHM and while it was difficult it wasn't a complete wipe for the entire group every time she did whatever it was that killed me last night. Which leads to the conclusion that if there were four doing it, the damage would be divided probably equally. There didn't seem to be any way to avoid it or mitigate it in any way.

Is is actually possible to solo this on Vet, if you're not doing it as a Tank? (Does anyone have a character that has over 42k health?)

I don't remember this fight and I'm not sure I've done it on vet. With that being said there are very few dungeons that are unable to be soloed.

Was the damage unavoidable/able to be dodged? Were you blocking? Did you have a shield up (if magplar)? Do you use Ritual of Retribution or Channeled Focus for the major mending? Channeled Focus also gives you major resistance buffs.

I did the same thing except with CoA1 last weekend. I was doing vMA and when I got done I ported directly to CoA1 to farm BSW. I didn't even realize a difference until I got to the first boss and saw his health. It was incredibly easy until the last boss, died a couple times without getting very far and realized I didn't want to spend the time figuring it out. Called someone in to help and he got a medium divines helm for 5 minutes of work.

Vet SpindleClutch I was a difficult one to solo only due to the Whisperer fight...the other bosses in this dungeon are all easy.

The Whisperer has a few high damage abilities which makes it difficult:
    • Main Attack: 12-14k damage attack
    • Daedric Explosion: Large AoE explosion for +30k damage (you must avoid this)
    • Arachnophobia: Fires a bolt at you that does 14-20k damage and stuns you for 3-5 seconds (you cannot break free)
    • Web Blast: A poison bolt that does 14-21k damage with a small stun/knockback.

The Arachnophobia ability is the toughest one as it stuns you for several seconds and you can't do anything about it. So the usual death is getting hit by this and then a followup Main Attack or AoE explosion which finishes you off. The only defense I've found for this is to roll-dodge the bolt by recognizing the attack animation (she rears up a little bit). I don't think you can block this attack either.

The other attacks are less dangerous. The AoE explosion is slow enough you can easily avoid it if not stunned. The Web Blast can be roll-dodged in the same manner as Arachnophobia but you can also block it as it and worst-case it doesn't stun for very long.

So the name of the game for this boss is healing, healing, healing. You have to have multiple sources of healing up on you at all times in order to survive the multiple high damage hits and the times when you are stunned for a few seconds. When I soloed it on my Magplar I was using:
    • 25k Health with 1H+S
    • Channeled Focus for Major Mending and armor buffs
    • Puncturing Sweep for self-heals/damage
    • Mutagen (Renegeration morph)
    • Ritual of Retribution
    • Potion of Vitality (+30% Healing Taken and 900 health/sec)

As it was the fight took 11 minutes as I was focusing on just surviving most of the time and making sure all the healing spells are up at all times. I roll-dodges the Arachnophobia as stamina permitted and otherwise just let it hit me. If you fight at max melee range there is generally time to get stunned and avoid the AoE explosion once you can move again.

I'll have to try it on Hard Mode sometime as well to see if its soloable. The damage gets bumped up quite a bit though so I may need to increase my health a bunch in order to survive it.

The thing was, I was getting hit with several attacks at once from the Whisperer. The screen goes white and your character holds their head like if someone reads the HM scroll, and then BAM. Dead. I have 15k or so health on her (that's with blue food) because all her enchants are Magicka, and I had down the healing circle, and on the last try before I gave up I spammed Breath of Life. Still died. The death report showed three 14k hits.

Same thing occurred with War Chief Ozozai in Fungal1 on Vet last night, and for that one I was also using Vitality/Immovability pots. He knocks you flat then charges you - the problem being because I'm using blue (health/mag) food I don't have enough stam to roll dodge more than once or twice max.

You need to dodge. Not block. Then you won't go whiteout mode. On a magplar it's very hard as you'll dodge twice and done for. The attack happens too quickly. She spits an Attack at you and thats when it happens.

Barrier is very very handy for this fight.
