[Housing] Renting a bed in an Inn for 24 hours for gold

The thing that I expected to be in player housing is the ability to rent a bed in an inn throughout Tamriel towns for 24 hours for an amount of gold. I pay a merchant some gold and I get access to a sleep animation on a bed in that inn for 24 hours real or game time.

Well there's 3 inn rooms you can own just by doing a short quest. But I don't think you can sleep in the beds (unless it's because I've placed every single one so it's unusable) and there's no benefit from logging out there over anywhere else in the city.

I agree it would be nice if sleeping, or simply logging out in a house/room you own gave you some benefit like in previous TES games. The ability to rent an inn room could be useful, but with wayshrines all over I think I'd be more inclined to teleport to my free inn room and then teleport back than pay for a room in the city I was in.

the whole thing (problem or not) with ESO, unlike other Elder Scrolls games is that there is no need to sleep...what's the point...and therefore what's the point of crafting a bed or renting one in an Inn

I agree with you that it would be good to get a boost of some sort, that way it actually makes it worthwhile

It's doable in ESO too. In Skyrim and Fallout 3&4 you got the well rested bonus which gave you a 10% XP gain bonus. In ESO that bonus is provided by ESO+ subscription. But you can give a smaller, temporary one, for example 5-10% XP bonus for 2 hours, or a 10% extension to daily illumination if you log out in an owned room for more than an hour. For example if I log out of my char at the end of the day and leave him inside one of my homes, next day he will have 440K illumination.

It would have to be real time. Game time would be pretty short.

There is a sleep animation, it is just not tied to the beds. It would be nice if they did this, but the usefulness is pretty limited and the application is rather boring if you are not a role player. (You have to sit there and watch yourself sleep) Remember that you are only in the game when you are in the game, and time passes at the same rate whether you are in the game or not. If you want to sleep until in-game daytime, you either need to stand there until that time, or come back to the game when it is day.

Renting a room for the day could be handy for would be a role play thing. Nothing wrong with that, but it is a lot of development work for a feature that already exists in a permanent form. The only problem with the permanent form is limited locations.

The idea of sleeping to rebuild Enlightenment is about all they could do, but my view of Enlightenment is pretty jaded. Since the introduction of Enlightenment to the game March 2015, I have never run out of it. It regenerates faster than I use it.

Actually; I'm surprised there is no buff for using your home. Functionality is definitely needed in future releases/updates/patches.

I run out of enlightenment in 1 hour of normal play. If I turn in 1-2 high XP quests even faster. Anyway, you can only stack 12 days of it, which is 4.8M "enhanced" XP or 1.2M normal XP. It was most likely implemented as an anti-grind feature, so probably adding a bit of that for logging out would add to that.
