Btw, you say that the cheapest you have seen it is 50k. I bought 2 for 20k each for other friends. I can't remember which guild was it, but it was in Elden Root, maybe it's worth to take a look there. Of course, I bought them while the event was still on, so the price probably raised, but you should be able to find it below 50k.
I understand it's a pity about the achievements and title, but when things are random... well, it can happen!0 -

✭✭I'm really surprised by this, I usually have the worst luck with the RNG but got the gold recipe on my second box and another almost every day that I bothered with the quests (which I only did for the style mat, had everything collected and title on two characters in the first three days). Still have a couple sat in my bank.
Thought the drop rate on them must be practically guaranteed for me to get so manyPS4 EU0 -

Very useful if like us and are going for Master Angler Achievement, but the ingredients are hard to find have to do the provisioning crafting writs and save up.
Some guild stores are selling the recipe for 1-20k, shop around for it some people are selling it cheaper, others are gouging.1 -

Dang it. Everywhere I've searched on NA Xbox I can't find it. I've been porting around between the faction homelands and other regions and I can't seem to find a recipe for less than 50 - 80K, even saw one for 200K.
I've been whispering players that link it in chat too looking to sell and have offered Motifs + Money + Items and still no bites.

Gotta say that I'm pretty salty (and it's not from drinking all the fishy rye) after trying to grind for this for the entire length of the event, only to run out of time and constantly get screwed by the RNG of the Festival Crates.
Really wish there were Guardrails or some sort've weight adjuster that was implemented into the New Life Crates, that tracked your progress in the event and slightly increased the chances of you getting the Hissmir recipe the closer you were to finishing the New Life Festival and claiming the title.

well I did grinded the whole witches festival too, but did not get any masks, they were cool. but I got all the motif pages either from drops or from the guild bank

I pretty much hit that point once I found out I couldn't get the recipe without selling my soul or giving 80K (which I don't have) to a player or Guild Trader.
I've JUST recently gotten back into ESO and I'm currently playing through the Thieves Guild DLC while levelling my first Character to 50.
So I'm kinda poor-ish and am still inexperienced as I haven't even touched the Champ system yet.

I think it's slightly unfair as well.
Like I said in another post, if you're going to do RNG of some sort with quests for replay-ability, add some sort of weight adjuster or streak breaker, so if I already have 5/7 items, each time I open a crate, the odds for me getting the items I don't yet have slightly increase, this would diminish the amount of dupes I got for recipes and also motifs.
It's a standard practice in most games that use odds of some sort relating to rewards or prizing. It also keeps players invested because the odds don't increase to the point where you're guaranteed the item you don't have, it just makes it more likely that you'll get it on a subsequent pull."What is your purpose here, Arisen? Anthony_Arndt✭✭✭I have a two-year-old son so I don't always have a lot of time to game. And he loves all things Star Wars, so SWTOR is our MMO of choice (for now). But my wife and I have loved the Elder Scrolls since she got us playing Morrowind and ESO since the beta. We've been big fans of the franchise and ESO has been our favourite fantasy MMO since the first day we logged into the beta.
The Hissmir box block from the New Life failure is the first thing that's turned me off of the game and left me feeling demotivated to the point where I end up logging off before I even finish cleaning my inbox and refreshing my AH posts.
Because of this gods' forsaken recipe.
I played just as much during the New Life failure as I did during the Witches Festival. I don't know how many boxes I managed for the Witches Festival, but even though I only got one mask, I got almost a dozen of the gold recipes and countless others. So I managed to finish the achievements on my main, my wife's main, and as many alts as I cared to.
And it was fun. And I finished the festival happy with the game and refreshed at the break from normal questing.
So the New Life Festival started and I was just as excited about it as I had been for the Witches Festival. And I ground through the dailies, day after day. I completed all of the achievements, minus the ones requiring the Hissmir recipe, within the first two or three days. And every day after that, the festival just got more and more frustrating.
When I first tried looking in the Guild Stores out of desperation, I started checking 10-20 stores a day and never saw a recipe for less than 20k. Across all eight characters, I maxed out at just over 18K. So I pooled my gold and ground through some quests and played the AH until I broke 20K. But by then normal prices were closer to 30-50k, then 40-60k, then 45-70K, and now that it's over it's usually starting around 50K. So the price has been sky-rocketing faster than I can raise the money.
The gold recipe from the Witches Festival is still going for 500-1,000g and the New Life failure is 50K and up. Someone screwed up and grinched the RNG.
So I'm taking a bit of a break from ESO and focusing on SWTOR until Housing launches next month. My Khajiit could use a break from the grind to just relax and ignore the loot. That is, hoping the Devs didn't screw that up too but I've heard that the requirements for furniture in terms of crafting mats and gold are absolutely ridiculous so that might just be another disappointment.
In the future, I would recommend looking at festival rewards in other mmos. Quests give barter tokens and the tokens are traded for the prizes. People who want to do things once for the experience can buy what they want. People who want to complete the achievements can grind for that. People who want to stock up for friends or auctioning can grind to their heart's content. Then, failures like the New Life failure can be avoided.”Fusozay Var Var”: ”Enjoy Life”Life is short.
