Dang, I really need that cup now. BRB buying crowns.
Seriously that's 4 dollars in crowns? Like, I was planning on using crowns to decorate, but I was expecting things like that to be more in the range of 50 cents. Any way someone could post the PTS prices for those of us who do not indulge in that storied land...
DeadlyRecluse I don't have a complete list but in general the most basic things of White quality (including most rocks and plants) are 10 Crowns, somewhat nicer Green-quality items are 50 Crowns, Blue items (getting into some truly cool stuff) is 150 Crowns, and Purple items are 400 Crowns, but this goes for all purple items no matter how big they are. That fancy cup costs exactly as much as an enormous Nibenese fancy column. It just seems like the pricing in need of a serious round of fine-tuning.
@Recremen Ah, I see. So would it be fair to say that overall the crown prices are reasonable (whatever that means) on furnishings, but some items just feel like they are in the wrong category? But if I wanted to buy a bunch of basic building components, I'll be in the 10-50 crown range?
Basically yes, though I'm still loath to spend four bucks on something that isn't, like, actually attached to the character. It's one thing if it's a fancy hat or adornment or hair style since your character is always in view, but on furnishings? I'm not too keen on that price. I'm keen on the idea in general, but I guess we'll see how it all pans out. I suppose I'm mostly glad that none of it is in the gambling boxes.
Called it, 10,000 crowns for manor easily.
(I'm just being doom and gloom sorry)
All of the prices, and crafting requirements are just nuts.
The insane requirements for items:
A Decorative Purple level PIE requires among other things: 60 Nickel, a Kuta.
What good is a Decorative Purple Level PIE?
Hundreds and hundreds more mats you need to save up to craft with no place to put it. This is attempt at getting players to sub for crafting bag storage.
Prices on some mats will skyrocket.
Mats will be harder to find in the world as more players are wanting them.
The whole system is designed to make money off of whales and lonely RPers. What do you expect?
Furniture is going to be pretty expensive and time consuming in game to push people into the crown store. That was the plan all along.
I will buy the cheapest house for 1 target dummy.
Houses are purely cosmetic and it is awfully sad that we are not getting real content. I guess future content will continue this trend and be hugely crown store focused. Housing is the perfect system.

If your buying racial style stones from an NPC vendor on live you deserve to be broke.
I am absolutely POSITIVE that it was just explaining of the ways the item can be sourced.
Also, if you have a 10 place setting on a table.. that 350 style stones... now.. go add how many you possibly spent on the 10 altmer chairs, the table... the style stones add up REALLY quick. Even for folks who have 1000's.

Well, dip me in alchemical resin and throw me to the skeevers!
I don't even understand how can they put white quality items in the crown store. The crown store is meant for nice things! I'd say blue but come on, green quality at least. All white furnishings should be available for gold at the home goods merchant, relatively cheaply (and so should be cheaply crafted) so any citizen of Tamriel could realistically afford them.
It should naturally come down to quality and design that no hero of Tamriel would want the white items but for the briefest of emergencies... green, blue and purple items would be the ones actively sought after, crafted and purchased.
This game truly makes the economy the most fantastical element by far

@Totes-Bode
It looks like you only read the title, my friend! I go into the price for making it yourself as well, pointing out that the material costs of the furniture are grossly high, especially since they require multiple rare items and that the base material themselves (Heartwood, Regulus, etc.) are also rare drops. I had my based covered, you trust.
We don't know yet crown prices for houses.
I hope ZOS will follow the same pattern as they did with gold prices: reasonable price for houses and the simplest furniture, up to sky prices for fancy (fancy! not basic!) furniture/decorations. It sounds very reasonable to me.

Can't wait to see the memes generated by those price tags when they finally announce them (and I wouldn't be surprised to see higher numbers).
Edit: It just dawned on me that people might take out mortgages for purchasing virtual real estate.

No, i read the post you made. I disagree that the material cost should be lowered. I would like something to work toward for once instead of instantaneous gratification.

You can buy building materials from in-game merchants.
